Okay, the portal thing, in Gold’s defense: He honestly believed that Cora would beat Emma and Snow. Cora in Storybrooke would have been a serious threat to him (and she DID find his dagger and almost kill him with it) as well as the people he loved (oh and everyone else but let’s face it, Gold probably wasn’t too concerned about them). He told Cora that he had had a vision of their final confrontation, so that probably fed into his belief that it would be Cora to come through any portal
Exactly. In his eyes, Emma and Snow didn’t have magic and magic is power, as we have heard him say so many times. And since he didn’t know the depth of Emma’s magic, he assumed Cora would win.
Cora still wins for pure unadulterated evilness in my mind, since while post-curse Gold is almost always motivated in his crimes by his love for Belle/Bae or his own self-defense, and Regina usually by her desire to be with Henry, Cora kills people just because
Mmmhm. Everything Rumple has done he did for the love he feels for his son. Now granted, many things he’s done have been devious and manipulative and down right terrible BUT he was a parent looking for a child. I’m not a parent myself, but if I was missing I’m sure my mom would move heaven and earth to find me. Regina was manipulated by Rumple, absolutely. But she also made her own choices. She didn’t have to choose to push Cora through the mirror, she didn’t have to choose to be Rumple’s apprentice, she didn’t have to choose to take her father’s heart, she didn’t have to choose to enact the curse. She made many bad choices, motivated by hatred (misplaced hatred mind you) for Snow. But I do consider her to be a victim of her mother and to an extent Rumple. Cora is just a wackadoodle.

Most of them said Cora, but a surprising amount of people were claiming it could be anyone from Rumple to Charming. So, while the death wasn’t a total surprise, for the casual viewer it was a bit of a mystery.
But ItachiIshtar is right about the double-edge sword. You don’t promote the big episodes, you won’t get the numbers. Spoil it too much and you won’t get the numbers because people think they know what is going to happen.

If they did get Racey together, the fandom might actually implode. But, it is a Sunday 8pm TV show, so it’s going to be anything major (I’m still shocked they had Snowing in bed together in The Cricket Game. Nothing wrong with it, just was a bit unexpected.)

Charming was so injured in FTL, so near death, that when the Curse hit, he wasn’t healed but left almost in the exact same circumstance. It could explain why Kurt and Owen are going into town.

If you click the tab “Broadcast Only” and then “Episodes”, it shows Once in the number 1 spot for the night in terms of broadcast scripted TV shows. I think when twitter is calculated into the Nielsen ratings starting this Fall, it will be a huge factor in Once’s favor. The current Nielsen sample just doesn’t seem to reflect the real viewers tuning in well enough. 🙂

The Nielsen seems to be a horrible way to calculate this stuff and I’m glad they’re making some changes.
I’m also glad I have fellow Oncers here to freak out with every Monday after we get our ratings. I think we’re actually doing quite well. Jane Espensen confirmed that Rumple wasn’t Regina’s father. As for Rumple being the safer person to be the dark one, the saying “Better the devil you know” springs to mind. Rumple at least had a heart, literally, whereas Cora was all about the power.
Did anyone think Rumple was a little bit taken aback when Cora told him she had ripped out her own heart in FTL? Almost like he thought such an action was wrong, even by his standards?
I did! Like the thought never even occurred to Rumple. His motives, as devious and manipulative as they are, are prompted by one thing: the love he feels for his son. I don’t think Rumple believes love is weakness (I was so glad it was the King who told Cora that and not Rumple). Cora’s actions were prompted by that philosophy and her need for more and more power.

Back on the topic of ratings, TVByTheNumbers made an error and Amazing Race actually got a bump to a 2.4, so it still beat Once by a tenth.
ARG! That’s sad, but our ratings share will go up at the end of the viewing week, as will our overall numbers.

It’s funny..I didn’t think I was particularly attracted to Rumple/Gold, and I’m not usually the sort to moon over actors on tv….but in this past Sunday’s episode when he stood above Cora’s body with his partially bare chest- swoon!

That scene was…unf. Partially bare-chest, cold icy glare, that voice. Mmhm. I was perfectly happy to watch that scene over and over. And I’m not particularly attracted to Rumple either, I just think he’s one of the most fascinating and intricately drawn characters on TV right now. But yeah, that scene was bad@$$.
