KeymasterJust got home, slightly exhausted, so a few thoughts
1) I ship Emma with “Not Hook” so if it’s SQ then I’m 100% on board. @Nevermore is right that it’s easy the most complex relationship on the show now that Neal is dead. It’s also what the writers are showing every season/week while claiming to “tell” CS.
2) Good on Bobby!
3) There’s a lot of truth in what Slurpeez has been saying—CS just grows in its toxicity and how outrageously bad it is. I just can’t see them abandoning it because it comes down to whether or not the writers recognize the toxicity of their ship. They may actually understand that it’s a truly horrifying romantic pairing (but then again, the white heterosexual male privilege is such that they can’t conceive of writing anything that isn’t “right”) and are only giving ABC what they want but in a way that makes the network mandated ship as ugly as possible. BUT….it doesn’t mean they are going to turn tail and run from it all of a sudden. Ah, to be a fly on the wall.
4) Since I know DSB and Macy won’t pop around to give a theory, I’ll do it for them (and I think Slurpeez knows this one. I think she and DSB talked about it once before): when Hook restored Emma’s memories in 3B (312) the potion was laced with the Sands of Avalon, the same roofie Arthur gave Gwen, which explain Emma’s behavior S3B-present, especially when it comes to Hook.

KeymasterI’ve also long wondered what Emma is supposed to be the savior of anymore. What is her larger narrative purpose now?
She doesn’t really have one. I mean they can throw around her Savior status all they want but she honestly hasn’t done a lot of saving lately. And now it seems like there are other “Emma’s” even though, again, I don’t get how since Emma’s Saviorhood is very contingent of certain events, situations ect.

KeymasterStill not sure how I feel about there being other Savior’s when Emma’s Saviorhood is for some pretty specific reasons and the byproduct of some pretty specific events.

KeymasterJust popping in real fast (on a quick vacay) to say that @Runaroundmacy @Dontstopbeliving @heatherc1275 and @josephine and I all agree with what Slurpeez and Nevermore are saying and in fact we had about a 5 hour conversation along the same lines while driving into PA.

KeymasterI think RumBelle is bound for bad news either way — I suspect they’ll have Rumple die in some self-sacrificial manner yet again
Absolutely.

KeymasterCan Emma just talk about her family issues? Can that just be a thing again? Can it just not be about Hook?
Maybe if we pray really hard….

KeymasterI think Jafar will serve as both Jafar and Aladdin’s Genie.

KeymasterAnd what on earth is up with Deb? Is she being consumed by whatever evil this is just like Amy was? Because like Deb, Amy didn’t remember kissing young cop guy.
I think Deb is faking not remembering personally.
But still my biggest problem with this show is WHY. Why is the tall man trying to kill Amy? Why is he haunting people in the first place? What is his motivation? I get they are keeping things close to the chest still, but I guess it’s just the way that the story is unfolding that has me quite puzzled as to WHY all this stuff is even happening in the first place.
All of that.

Keymaster105 Thoughts
–I find it very hard to believe that with all the weird stuffing going on, including drug dealer/murderers hanging out in the woods, the camp counselor decided it was a really good idea to go camping in said woods with a bunch of pre-teens.
–Amy is reading a manual on how to toast a marshmallow. Good lawd, y’all.
–Garrett found a ring with JS and instantly says it belongs to his father even though he never the cabin existed until a few days ago. Because the letters J and S are pretty uncommon and couldn’t possibly belong to anyone else.
–I feel like I still don’t know Joel as a character even after this flashback. He never once came off as having visions or perhaps some sort of psychosis. A flashback is supposed to help me understand the character more but I feel like they shoved a random “issue” on to Joel so they could do something with Joel in the present day. For example, Cricket’s insecurities and need for validation from Alex made sense once we saw her flashback. Even Alex’s hyper-all-American-boy shtick made sense once we saw who he really was. For Joel, he says that the camera is the only way he could tell what’s real or not, but in the flashback we saw that he was interested in film making and recording everything around him before his brother died and before Joel himself saw the Tall Man. I just feel like I have nothing to latch on to when it comes to Joel. He’s not actually crazy since Holyoak is real so….what else is there for him?
–RIP Cricket. I do appreciate that they showed that the danger is real and that they intend to follow through on the Tall Man’s threats.

KeymasterOded Fehr is a good enough actor that I’m going to give him a try (I do actually really like him in other stuff). But might recommend another go of WL? Once you get to episode 8, it’s really (really) very good and the back half, 9-13, is simply fantastic.
Well now I don’t know if I want to watch it knowing another actor is playing Jafar haha. Especially if Naveen did a great job with it. But also, I don’t love the idea of watching a show that got cancelled early. Was there a definitive ending? Like did the writers sort of know the end was coming and then sum it up? I’d hate to give it another try only to want more and be disappointed questions weren’t answered.
Yes there was a real ending (that was gorgeous and amazing)
(and yes, ignore Will on OUAT and you’re set)
