I’ve started watching ‘The 100’ on Netflix. So far, I’ve made it through 2 seasons. It’s good! Lots of action, interesting characters, complex themes, strong female leads, morally ambiguous behaviour which has consequences. It has so many things that we’ve been pining for on OUAT.

Yay! So glad you’re loving it.

The 3min conversation scene between Rumple and Nealfire—still one of, if not THE, favorite moments of the show for me.

So I watched the first couple episodes of OUAT in Wonderland.  Didn’t really care for it.  So I stopped.

Oded Fehr is a good enough actor that I’m going to give him a try (I do actually really like him in other stuff). But might recommend another go of WL? Once you get to episode 8, it’s really (really) very good and the back half, 9-13, is simply fantastic.

Sounds reasonable. Aladdin is good at getting people out of itty bitty living spaces

I was thinking Morpheus. The actor has been working with Bobby and Emilie.

But, seriously. Why does Rumple need help geting her out at all? Just…press the button.

She had a lot more to say at the 31:50 mark, too. She basically said that part of the reason she even wanted to start directing was so that she could have more say in what she works on (despite basically saying before that she probably wouldn’t direct an episode of OUAT): Jennifer Morrison: “When you get involved in a project, you might love the script, you might really love the character, you might believe in it, you might do so much work, and you might be great every day, but you have no control over what parts they choose, you have no control over how they cut it together. And so there could be a lot of great ingredients to a project and it could still end up being a really sh!ty meal. Is that okay to say? *nervous laughter*

    Well that’s telling.

I think JMo is slowly coming around to the same feelings as Ginny and Bobby. I think S5A was a wake up call; we know she put a lot of research into trying to create the Dark Swan and in the end, it ended up being all about Hook and Dark Swan wasn’t really that Dark. That must have been frustrating that she has no say in the development of her character anymore–Sean said that they don’t really get a voice anymore (at least in his case)

So they went their intentionally so they could never have their stories told???? What?

Yeah that’s odd. Cause Hyde seems all gung ho about the stories being told.

Okay so now the Savior is a title, something passed down, Emma wasn’t the first and Aladdin is a savior too. I wonder if this has anything to do with the Diamond In The Rough thing that Aladdin was in the movie.

I wanna see how it plays out but so far, not a fan of that idea

The former from what I can tell. People were angry that the magazine/interviewer was treating her like an object, forcing her to drape herself on Colin, be near Coin, ect. I still haven’t seen a video of this interview.

The video can be found here, and the joke from Emilie and JMO about instructions at about the 9:00 mark. The instructions cam from Entertainment Tonight that JMo be next to Colin. But that then raises the issue of how much was JMo and how much was ET. For example, did JMo really have to drape her arm over Colin during the interview? Colin’s body language is visibly closed and hands off, whereas JMo was leaning in on him with her arm on his shoulder throughout the interview. By contast, Lana was also seated closely next to him, but even on a tight couch, Lana’s was leaning into Colin and her arms weren’t angled towards him the way JMo’s were.

Great thanks! It does look bad, I agree. And it really speaks to something much larger in culture about relationships and power dynamics. I wouldn’t for a second imagine that Jen and Colin wouldn’t do photo ops together or have to be flirty in these things because it is part of their job to sell a certain image. Using another TV show, for example, Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards have to do similar poledancing for Arrow. But being ordered to do it for the sake of hungry eyes is disconcerting.

Colin probably wouldn’t get fired but that doesn’t mean ABC doesn’thave other ways to punish “bad behavior.” I’m not justifying Colin or JMo but we do hear stories all the time from, say, the music industry about producers holding on to the reigns of the singer; they may not lose their contract but the producer/company can threaten everything else—family, money, tour dates, ect.

This is where their unions should step in. Is there such a thing as an actors’ union? Also, are you serious about their family being threatened?!!

I’ve heard about in the music industry, sure. You’re family depends on your money and your fame and they can threaten to cut off funds, ect. Ever heard of Clive Davis? There have been some pretty nasty stories about him from some artists.

I wish @dontstopbelivin was around right now. She’s chalk full of these stories.

Actors can refuse on the basis that they need some control over their image as they’re the face for the show and hence targets for hate.

He doesn’t have to go along with it so much, even despite the pressure from media outlets and/or ABC. Colin is OUAT’s poster boy. He’s not going to get fired over objecting to it for the sake of his marriage.

Both points are true; Colin probably wouldn’t get fired but that doesn’t mean ABC doesn’thave other ways to punish “bad behavior.” I’m not justifying Colin or JMo but we do hear stories all the time from, say, the music industry about producers holding on to the reigns of the singer; they may not lose their contract but the producer/company can threaten everything else—family, money, tour dates, ect.

Also, while Colin doesn’t seem to fight it either (perhaps he should), he seems more visibly uncomfortable to me with the kinds of crazy fan-girl attention he gets both from CS fans and perhaps even his female colleagues

There was another incident last night where Colin was swarmed trying to leave SDCC and security couldn’t get him through and I guess it got really frustrating for everyone.

Yes this is also something I’m struggling with because Emma’s the savior due to two things: her parents ultimate TL and Rumple putting a drop of that TL on to the Dark Curse ensuring she’d be the one to break it. So how is Aladdin a Savior of anything?

Maybe they’ll spin it that Aladdin being made a Saviour is how Rumple got the idea for what he did with Emma? (Which would mean this scene with Aladdin and Jafar has to have happened 30+ years ago?)

    Quote

I like the idea. But man how does that screw up the timeline?
