I’m talking the Snow where she drinks the potion to forget Charming

Hmmmmmm. That’s a bit more possible, I agree.

So what about Charming? What happens if he takes the serum–someone who has more personality than a jar of mayo (I kid, I kid!) (maybe)

Rumple is not beyond hope of redemption.

Maybe not, but one of the biggest problems with this arc (an arc I did enjoy) is that it tries to sell the idea that one good deed (or one half-hearted, semi-good deed) can wipe the slate completely clean and undoes all the bad. So if Rumple wakes Belle up, say with TLK after he sacrifices his darkness, then he’s redeemed? It doesn’t undo all the pain he caused her, it doesn’t bring back any of his victims, or the terror and fright he unleashed. I know the show is more concerned with redemption over justice but is one selfless act enough to do undo all the bad when there has been that much bad?

(yes, the same last few sentences can be applied to any of the Big 3 Villains on the show)

Is getting rid of the Darkness suddenly going to make Rumple a better man–going with the addiction analogy, addiction isn’t something you “get over” (look at Regina this episode talking about her inner EQ and how she’s always having to squash her down and fight her instincts). This is a life long struggle and we’ve seen Rumple, time and time again, chose magic (the easy path;the path that makes him feel good) over what is hard. He even did it after he was totally cleansed of the darkness the first time!

So this idea that he just needs a wake up call, needs to give up the darkness, and then needs Belle back baffles me because he’s had all that before and it didn’t stick. What about the way this character is written currently and for the past few seasons makes us think it’ll stick this time?

I know that but it almost seemed as if Snow’s own dark side was briefly coming out to play.

So if all the characters got injected with the serum, who would come out to play? Depends on their current status, yes?

Hook (good, reformed pirate) takes Serum and we see Dark One! Hook

Emma (Savior) takes Serum and we see The Dark Swan

Rumple (Dark One, selfish, power focused) takes Serum and we see Spinner! Rumple

Snow (hero) takes Serum and we see AU!Snow (is this even possible? That reality wasn’t real)

Charming (hero) takes Serum and we see AU!Charming/James (again, is this even possible? That reality wasn’t real)

By the way, wouldn’t last night’s episodes have made more sense if Henry had mentioned that Tamara had done this stuff, not Neal?

Yup. And Neal had told his son after learning about Tamara’s allegiances. I mean still plot convenience but makes way more sense than Neal’s super secret quest.

Maybe Violet is the half sister of Lily (same father) hence why both girls have flower names?

    Quote

Yeah, that’s sort of in line with what @thedarkonedearie thinks, except that he believes them to be full blown sisters and have Mal as a mother. I thought it was insane but….well, crazier things happen on this show every Sunday at 8pm EST.

I think his thought process is more like,  When I don’t have power I loose the people I love (Bae) so I am going to make sure I don’t loose Belle by having enough power to protect her.  Of course this is circular thinking because he lost her because he wanted more power, but I don’t think he has figured this out yet.

Sure. I think that’s mostly spot on, but at what point is Rumple, at best, hopelessly dense and, at worst, power hungry and refusing to see any alternative besides “more power.” His son literally died and his attempt to get more power (by *twitch* cleaving himself from the dagger) only resulted in Belle banishing him from SB forever. If all *that* isn’t a wake up call, then what is?

When Snow was talking about being present at the birth of the evil Queen and wanting to see Regina “end her”, Snow’s voice kid of went like dark Snow, like she was really into seeing Regina kill the EQ.

    Quote

The EQ was a menace to Snow for a long time so I’m sure she’s glad to see the EQ go byebye.

Is this actually the science vs magic story line?

I don’t think so. It seems like science and magic were working in tandem in the Land of Untold Stories; Jekyll used all manner of science-y doodads and thingamabobs to put the magical wand back together. I think we got that prediction wrong; S6 is going to be about the war between the character’s two selves.

but maybe he’s beginning to think it’s because he’s lost Belle’s love.

Yes, maybe. But then his thought process is fairly…weird.

“I’ve lost Belle’s love because I can’t be a different man because I desire power too much!”

“How do I solve this problem…??”

“Oh, I know! I’ll get MORE power! Yup, that’ll do it.”

He needed both to get Belle back

Oooh, but does he need both? Belle, yes, for obvious reasons. But does he actually need the crystal (which he thinks will give him “more power”) to wake Belle? No. What he needs is to let go of the darkness, let go his power, and be a better and different man. He doesn’t actually *need* that crystal for anything, he’s just unwilling to do what actually needs to be done to wake his wife.
