Keymaster*mumbles something about bad mythology and how a river of fire should not be green* but yeah you’re probably right since the show takes a majority of its cues from Disney and not classic mythology.
I thought the river of fire is Phlegethon, not Styx?
Actually, yes. My bad.

Okay, I understand that Jared himself is growing up quite quickly, but in the show universe, Henry is still only 14(ish). C rushes and puppy love are one thing (and since it got next to no development in S5A, it can remain in the teeny bopper phase). I mean, yay for the show remembering that Violet was a thing, but whyyyy are they in NYC? Seemingly alone? Or at least sans parents?

KeymasterI think the river Hades attempts to dunk Hook into is the River Styx, because it is green and has souls swimming in it like in the Disney movie.

KeymasterSo Hellbroke is essentially the Asphodel Fields, or whatever its called. Thats a thing, right?
It is a thing, but I wouldn’t call Hellbrooke that either. Asphodel is just where ordinary souls go when they die. Those average Joe’s and Jane’s who didn’t lead extraordinary lives of heroism but weren’t evil either. There’s no “moving on” or unfinished business there. It’s not Limbo while you wait out a sentence of punishment before moving on to the worst place (like Tartarus) or the better place (Elysium).

KeymasterThe reason why they showed it to the audience this episode and not last week was because Olympus wasn’t introduced last week. The light was too bright for us to see Olympus because Olympus doesn’t mean anything in the Henry Sr/Regina story. But add in Hercules, who spoke at some length about Olympus, and suddenly the light fades enough so that the audience can be “let in” on the secret: the better place, upstairs, where souls go when they finish their business is Olympus.

KeymasterIt appeared like a white light, just as it did for Regina’s father, but then you could see Olympus in the background.
No, read the above TV Line article.
The Underworld is kind of a weigh station between two other worlds. Hades has a brother that’s up in Mount Olympus, and then there’s a place “downstairs” that’s even worse.
The Underworld is the in-between Limbo. You can go “downstairs” (the worse place) or you can go “upstairs” (the Better place) and that’s Olympus. Olympus is their heaven, no matter what culture you’re from.

KeymasterI wonder if the pen is going to enable Henry to rewrite the narrative again, the way he did at the end of 4×22
Maybe but it would feel like a 180 from Henry’s final scene in S4. He broke the pen because he believed that no one should have that much power–to do what Isaac did, essentially. So for him to pick up the quill and try to rewrite stories/fates/whatever would mean that Henry has be given significant breathing room this season to explore why he’d have a change of heart.
But…this is a show that often forgets that Henry is a thing.

KeymasterRatings have come in for episode 5×13 “Labor of Love”
Eyeballs: 4.33 million
Demo: 1.3
We stayed steady in the demo (as predicted) but did tick up in overall eyeballs.

KeymasterSo Hook’s gonna be lowered into the green river? Which river do we think that is? More flaming blue hair? URGH!
My guess is Cocytus. There’s not much in ancient Greek lit about it, but it plays a VERY heavy role in Dante’s Inferno. It’s the river in the lowest circle of Hell where Hades in bound and chained and is the home of traitors. Given that it looks like this is a place in the Underworld that is “deep underground” and that Hook’s now faced with the task of betraying his friends that’s my guess.

It is probably the river that makes you forget. They can’t have an arc without having simeone forgetting something.
Noooo. Most likely not. Lethe has to be the white one, if just for symbolic importance given what Lethe does. And it does make you forget everything, just your sins. Hades wouldn’t want that for Hook.
