    Round 3 is now open

    http://www.zimbio.com/brackets/TV+Couples+March+Madness+2016

On the OUAT front, only one couple made it through

SwanQueen is up against Klaus and Caroline from The Originals.

If SQ wins this battle, they will go up against the winner Jane and Maura (Rizolli and Isles) vs Oliver vs Felicity (Arrow)

Voting goes through Monday March 14th

Interesting note: the verb they’re using for “cross” (perasis—rendered in the above as perasei) gets used in some classic texts to mean passage from life to death and to pass through gates.

    *blinks* Hey look real(ish) Greek!

Translation: yes that’s a rough translation. It’s not how actual Greeks would have written it (it’s too perfect word order…like they took the English words and simply put them into Greek whereas Greek would have words placed in any order it dang well wanted).

Interesting that they’re using “agape” for love—there are several words in Greek for love but agape has a lot of Christian meaning nowadays and it meant a more universal, cosmic love instead of brotherly, more common love.

A few things…..when they say “can’t say,” to me that means they have a chance of addressing it at some point. They will tell us “no,” if they won’t, like the well for instance and the fates. So with that in mind, when they say things like Maleficent and Lily are not forgotten, that makes me think they still may go back to that. When they say “can’t say” for whether or not Merlin created the quill, that’s also exciting because that was an answer I never thought we would get.

Or it means that they haven’t come with an answer yet. If they say “no” it means that it won’t be address. If they say “yes” then obviously it means that it will be addressed. But “can’t say” either means that they won’t say for spoiler reasons or can’t say because they haven’t thought that far ahead and honestly don’t know what they’re going to do with ideas that are now laying scattered around the plot of 5 seasons.

A character being boring or under developed is the fault of the writers who often get overly distracted by their crazy plots, their shiny toys, and their own obsession with other characters/ideas. And if the writers feel that the only way they can remove their now boring and defunct character from the narrative is to kill him (in spite of what kind of thematic, moral, or ethical message it sends) then you have to question, at the very least, their artistic integrity. It’s lazy for people who’s jobs are literally to tell stories and figure out a way to develop their characters and ideas in organic ways. There’s nothing wrong with killing a good person in TV. It happens all the time and in other shows can be handled with grace and thoughtfulness that serves their other characters and their narrative.

There is,however, a problem with killing a good (morally upright) character in TV simply because *writers* don’t know what to do with them or find them uninteresting. And the fact is, in recent history on this show, the characters who are getting killed off are those who are 1) parents 2) definitively morally upright (meaning they have not committed any egregious sins such as the big bad one of murder) and 3) were met with hostility from parts of the fandom and moreover their deaths are never given any kind of weight or meaning. They just simply exit stage left and the other characters go back to focusing on plot.

WE had gods on the show before …. wasn’t POSIDEN and Ursula Greek deities?

It was never established if Poseidon was an actual god or no; he could easily have been named for the real Poseidon like our Ursula was named for the ancient sea witcht. And if he was, he’s certainly not the brother of our Hades and future Zeus (if Marcus is Zeus)
