KeymasterAnd it infuriates me that these writers can’t write interesting couples without making them blander than string cheese, or inserting unnecessary, farfetched, and vaguely distasteful “drammaz.”
String cheese can be quite exciting. I like habenero string cheese.
However, none of the couples on this show are habenero cheese

KeymasterLike it’s one thing to have minor characters shipped off to forgotten character island, but you can’t put Snow White there on a show about fairy tales that all started with her and Charming, and I’m sure ABC knows that.
You mean the same network that let Patrick Dempsey out of his contract early and allowed the creator to kill of his character despite the entire show starting with Meredith Grey and Derek Shepard?
It’s like Bar said; you’re taking the creative-narrative approach. Networks don’t much care about that; they care about what will get them money. If Ginny wanted to leave (or anyone else) and A and E assured ABC that they could still write a show to get eyeballs, then ABC would say “bye bye!” Less money they have to pay one actor anyway.
EDIT: also you seem to think that LOST and OUAT have the same cultural cache/status with ABC. They do not. LOST was lightening in a bottle and a phenomenon that skyrocketed. OUAT is not. It began a descent in S2 (ratings wise) and never really fully recovered (apart from the shark jump of Frozen that was temporary). LOST remained (and remains) one of the most talked about, analyzed, well received TV shows in the past 15 years. OUAT does not get the same treatment as LOST. Just like no other show on ABC got the same treatment before cancellation: ie: Revenge, Resurrection–both of which had very strong first seasons and were considered “hits” before the inevitable decline and cancellation.

KeymasterI could see her stepping down as a series regular while Josh continues to work full time.
I could see that. Ginny-as-Snow barely has the work she used to have. The Snowing flashbacks now are more Charming centric (Siege Perilous) or don’t have running around the woods like they used to and her present day stuff is usually one scene with Josh or Lana in which she spouts some lines and then goes away. even her up coming 513 centric is Baliee not Ginny in the flashback..
Ginny has been done (at least that how she presents herself in interviews) for awhile now.

KeymasterI can’t seem to find anything about the actors’ contracts, but as far as I know season 5 is the final season they are contracted to do. I would be very surprised if Ginny, Josh, Robert and Emilie continued to season 6.
I believe it was a standard 2yr then 3 yr for most everyone, apart from Bobby who got the 5 years *very* early on. Colin and Emilie are the odd ones since they came later (well, and Sean/Bex now but they might be year by year)
Right, I guess what I meant was, they aren’t going to continue the show without Ginny, Josh, Robert and Emilie. That’s just not going to happen. And with LOST, they announced at the start of season 6, that it would it’s last, and as a result the ratings spiked a little. I expect ABC will do the same for OUAT.
They announced the end of LOST waaaaaaaay before the start of 6.
Even though Snow White and Charming have been sidelined, they’re still essential to A&E’s vision of what Happily Ever After looks like for Emma and Henry.
Maybe in the pre-rebooted show. I don’t know..I think A and E would spin it so that Emma’s HEA is now just Henry/Hook and since she made peace with her parents, she can take over as the rightful queen of Charming’s kingdom and carry on their legacy as part of her HEA.

KeymasterYes, I’ve heard about those. I also heard that Lana said she didn’t like the episode “The Evil Queen” and that Ginnifer was disgusted with Robin and Regina’s relationship in season 4.
Ginny being disgusted doesn’t surprise me; but I didn’t know that about Lana.
