KeymasterI actually think that if anything, it’s a voice over but no actual vision (CGI or otherwise)

KeymasterI’m not going to lay down any odds about Neal or MRJ. It’s an interesting title but…yeah, there’s no real hope for anything here.

KeymasterInteresting that leads to the main title. So it’s the first thing we see/hear? Thanks for the screenshot

KeymasterWell the gods can take on forms they want, so perhaps that was just his chosen form, and it was a different race than the one chosen by his brothers
Sure…but do you really want to go through “Race Swap 2.0” in which they turn Poseidon from black to white? Cause…I don’t.
They referred to Ursula as a goddess multiple times though
REAL Ursula, yes. But is she really a goddess or just BELIEVED to be one? That’s what I’ve been getting at for several posts now. She was powerful–yes–but that alone doesn’t make her a goddess. A and E can easily say that people believed her to be a goddess because of her powers and Ursula just let people believe it cause it worked for her.

KeymasterDidnāt they call URSALAāS father Poseidon a god in that story lineā¦. I think A&E have already used the āgā word. . .
I think so. But A and E don’t exactly use their previous work to inform their current arcs and storylines. They just hope and pray the audience wasn’t pay strict enough attention or has amnesia.
And it’s tricky with the OUAT Poseidon; just because he claimed he was a god does not mean he is one; he was not shown to be a god/have god like powers. He just stated he was one. I could claim to beĀ god but it doesn’t make me so; it also goes back to my example I used above with the TV show Stargate SG-1; the aliens claimed to be gods but that does not make them so.
I’m also *really* not sure how Poseidon is going to fit into this current family mess with Hades (and maybe Zeus) because in Greek mythology the world was divided into three for the three brothers: Zeus became King of the Gods and got Olympus; Poseidon got the oceans while Hades got the Underworld. As it stands in the ONCEiverse, Poseidon is a different race than Hades. I guess they could go the whole “adopted” route but…man does that mess with Greek mythology.

KeymasterTo be fair, some shows do get early renewal but in order for that to happen, they have to be doing extremely well (and have done extremely well in the past). For example, TBBT was renewed in S7 for three more seasons in one fell swoop (S8, S9, and S10). In 2015 it brought in $348,000 in ad buys for one thirty-second commercial (OUAT brought in $155,000 in 2015) hence its easy early and many-season’d renewal. ABC sometimes will do early renewal under special circumstances. With LOST, they renewed it through season 6 earlier than the airing of S5 but with the caveat that S6 would be the last season overall.
However with OUAT, I think ABC does take it one season at a time. This is, as Matt rightly says, a PR Jedi Mind Trick to fool ad buyers into believing that they should continue to shell out big $$ for a chance to air their products from 8pm-9pm on Sundays. The odd thing is that it works. From 2014 to 2015 there was a 14% increase in ad buy amounts even though, after the Frozen hype died out, our ratings weren’t lowish (somewhere between 2.0 and 1.6 most weeks)

KeymasterI donāt know that Hades will be a god in any way that matters. I just canāt imagine them using that language.
Yes I’ve been pondering how the show will tackle that. Using the “g” word is rather heavy and tricky. Tons of shows do it, but also carefully deconstruct what that actually means in their universe (example: the “gods” of Stargate SG-1 are not actually gods but the Goa’uld aliens who set themselves up *as* gods to the people of earth). If I had to guess for OUAT, I’d say that the Underworld is just another realm and Hades is just the king of it (and since A and E can’t resist family drama, Hades will be an unwilling king who was forced into this territory by his dear older brother Zeus who rules another realm, Olympus). The in show-explanation will be that in our world the legend simply called Zeus and Hades “gods” because of how powerful their magic. It’s actually not an uncommon phenomenon in real history, to elevate someone beyond human simply because they are perceived to be uber powerful, magical, special, ect.
