Let’s not forget how Hook actually jumped off of a building to get Emma’s attention (before he knew he was the dark one…how could he not know? *twitch*). I think the toxicity thermometer just broke.

Suicide attempt to get a woman’s attention (and then having it work). I mean I can’t even right now. I literally cannot. I’m trying but the lack of coffee and the anger are preventing me.

I thought it was character assasination. Ruby was over being with other werewolfs in season 2 and she told whale she thinks Regina gave them second chance by casting the curse so suddenly she’s miserable being among her only friends and family?

    Quote

    That. That right there.

I also do not, for a second, believe for a second that Ruby would leave her Granny behind to go off looking for wolves that are “her own kind.” Ruby’s happy ending was never true love or being with “her own kind” it was finding inner peace within herself and learning to love both the wolf and the girl because they were both her.

Regina is Baby Neal’s Step-Grandmother….that makes Zelena Baby Neal’s Step-Grand Aunt…making Baby Mills his Step-Second or Third Cousin

It is too early in the morning for me to try and make sense of that.

Favorite part of this had to be Hook holding up all this little baubles and telling Emma about all the people he killed for petty and silly reasons! Gosh. What a guy! So romantic. So wonderful. And he kept souvenirs from all his kills! You know who does that? Sociopaths.

All three of these women know Belle but not ONE mention of her (that I could see, thanks digital TV).

I’ll save you the pain of waiting: There was no mention at all. Mulan even brought up the Yaogui adventure but only to mention Philip. Red mentioned that she had heard of Mulan from her friends–those friends being Snow, Aurora and Philip

Red, who is devoted to her Granny, just runs off like that without a way back?

And Granny hasn’t mentioned this at all in the entire season following Red’s departure?

I think Hook, not Emma, might be the one involved with Merlin’s disappearance. Merlin’s voice mail simply said “the Dark One knows I’m here”, but now we know that they could have misled us into thinking it was Emma, and it was actually Hook going after him.

    Quote

Yes I suspect Hook’s to blame. But what actually happened to Merlin? Is he dead? Did Hook kill him–and if so, was it because someone ordered Hook to kill Merlin? Like, someone got hold of the sword? We still don’t know how it ended up back in that stone.

One of the recent Adam and Eddy interviews simply said that they would “plant the seeds” in this episode, which it seems like that’s what they did. They also said that both Mulan and Ruby would be in 5B, so I guess that’s when the relationship will truly start to develop.

    Quote

Then they planted their seeds poorly because it felt like it was Mulan and Merida the entire episode and Ruby was just a hanger-on whom Mulan went trotting off with later. And it’s like Mike said, the pronoun game is beyond insulting! They still can’t have Mulan say that she was in love with Aurora. It’s being kept vague on purpose (so as not to offend sensibilities?). So no, I have no hope that the show will actually spend any reasonable amount of time developing a realistic LGBT relationship. The next time they visit this particular ship, it will be go about as well as this episode did: it will be obvious filler and be frustratingly vague about any actual LGBT feelings between these two women.

This is endemic of a much larger problem on OUAT: inclusion and representation. People of color crop up every now and then, and then are shuffled off either by being evil or dying. How about gays or lesbians or transgendered peoples? None. Mulan is apparently bisexual but only in the most vague way possible. The writers make Mulan play the pronoun name, never explicitly state that she was into Aurora, not Philip. They have never said nor had Mulan say, out in the open, loud and proud, that she is bisexual/pansexual/gay. It’s the 21st century! It’s 2015! We live in an age where gay boys and girls are being beat up, harassed, and are killing themselves for those they chose to love. Wouldn’t it be great–wouldn’t it be empowering–for our media to tell the LGBT people of the world that they are loved, they are equal, and that their stories deserved to be told right alongside straight peoples! But no. OUAT doesn’t have it in them. They won’t fight that battle, but they’ll take the credit for being “bold” and pushing an LGBT narrative. Heads up, Adam and Eddy. You’re part of the problem, not the solution.

I’ll get off my soapbox now but the fact that they think they are doing something good here is more insulting than the episode.

Have we had an Eva or Ava?

The chest-thumping Adam and Eddy were doing earlier this year about exploring an LGBT relationship is laughable since, in the end, Mulan and Ruby are less romantic interests and more budding friends who decide to go hunt werewolves together. There was no hint of a relationship between the warrior and wolf. There were no long looks, no hand holding and certainly no kissing. In fact, if you hadn’t known that OUAT promised an LGBT relationship this season would you even have known that Mulan and Ruby were supposedly set up as one? If anything, Mulan and Merida had a greater connection and more chemistry and history between them than Mulan and Ruby. Ruby didn’t even enter the narrative until about thirty-five minutes in and after that, she was a secondary character to Merida’s story line. I’m not even sure why she was there helping out Merida!
