KeymasterYes! I love the first book. An unbelievably strange book that combines myth, fantasy, time travel, pocket universes, and vernacular photography. There are creepy monsters and an entertaining plot, but what really makes this book worth the read are the black and white photos sprinkled throughout. At first, I thought I would find them annoying but it’s amazing how well they work with the narrative, fitting into the story at just the right moments. It was obvious that Riggs spent countless hours hunting down these photos to use, pouring through garage sales and personal collections. The photos are strange (like the cover photo of a girl floating) and are obviously “faked” but that is washed away in the explanation of who the children in the photos are
I really should sit down and read book two. I keep meaning to!

KeymasterNah. We’re an ensemble show. Also, I’d lay smart money on it being Beckett from Castle. Stana wants out.

Keymaster*attention*
My deepest apologies. We have hit a major snag in this re-read, as you can tell. Right now, we need to go at a much slower pace. All of us have full time jobs that are currently eating our lives. I shall TRY to respond to Macy’s post and get the next chapter up sooooooon.

KeymasterIn general I think A&E are aware of some of the problematic issues in their show. Issues around consent and rape for example they HAVE to be aware of based on a few of the lines between Robin and Zelena in her cell a few episodes back, but they skirt around them and don’t address them appropriatel
Wellllll….I dunno. Those Robin/Zelena lines seem telling but at the same time, Adam refuses to acknowledge that Regina and Graham were having sex during those council meetings. He said once that because we didn’t see it, they might have been playing a card game! All this happened because people wanted to know if Regina raping Graham would come up. The writers also keep using the wonky consent storyline either because they don’t recognize it as rape or because they don’t care.
I’m not sure which one scares me more.
I would hope that Jane Espenson is aware. She’s smarter than the average bear and wrote for a show that DID deal with issues.
Wait. I just tried to #Hope something. Gotta stop that.
