RumplesGirl
KeymasterI really liked the friendship between the two, especially in the moment after the water zombie (what WAS that ??!) attack. The show actually gave Charming some much needed color with his very introspective line, “I don’t want to only be remembered as the man who kissed a sleeping princess awake thirty years ago.”
It might be one of his more complex sentiments and really added something to Charming, a character who is often dangerously one note.

KeymasterWait….did CS just break up?
If they did you know it won’t last.

KeymasterOne other thing. Think maybe Arthur had something to do with Merlin being trapped in that tree, and he actually doesn’t want Merlin freed? Why else would he secretly steal the toadstool from Charming, when they were planning to use it to communicate with Merlin?
Bingo

KeymasterWait, what? When was that said? I must have missed it.
The flame of the torch Arthur and Charming were carrying around apparently came from the Burning Bush.

KeymasterSo Arthur could be found out not by magic, but by science!
Witchcraaaaaaaft. (because Arthur has no idea what science is!)
lol. But yeah, basically what happened with Rumple and Zelena, except Arthur can’t wave his hand and erase the evidence.

KeymasterForgot one thing: apparently Moses was in the EF?!
Funny. This is not a thing I learned when I was getting my MA in Religious Studies.

KeymasterWhat if Arthur and Mordred have been merged by Adam and Eddy? Definetly darker motivations, but he only thinks he’s doing what’s best for his kingdom, and doesn’t care how dark it may be.
I was thinking something along the same lines.

KeymasterAlso….HOW did he disappear? The venom doesn’t make people disappear. Snows father didn’t disappea
And until you reminded me of this, I didn’t even realize it was a mistake in continuity. Dang it, OUAT.

KeymasterI don’t get this promo at all.

KeymasterI thought this episode was better than last weeks but there is still a certain amount of randomness to it all. Still too many Magical MacGuffins that are inserted for no other reason than to give the characters something to chase. And in this case, it’s something that isn’t even associated with Arthurian mythology (admittedly, I might be forgetting something? Anyone know?). There are also just weird moments that take you out of the world of the show because of how STRANGE they are (Arthur can drive a car?!)
LIKED
–I did enjoy quite a few of the Arthur and Charming conversation moments, especially the conversation at the Lake about how David wanted to be more than just the guy who woke up a sleeping princess with a kiss. That speaks to his White Knight tendencies. He wants to be heroic and go on quests and most importantly succeed, but he’s usually not really successful and that bothers him. The fact that Arthur relates is a nice parallel.
–Being right that Charming would take the Siege Perilous
–Being right that Arthur was shady.
–JMo is still doing an nice job as the Dark One
–Belle actually did stuff
–The Dwarves need to over throw the monarchy
MIXED
–Hook admitting that he was the villain in the Rumple scenario. First off, FINALLY. Yes you were a villain and you did a terrible thing. But last week Hook was still calling Rumple the bloody crocodile and Hook hasn’t actually done anything to say he’s sorry to Rumple (or to those that he hurt after Rumple). It’s one thing to say it out loud, but it’s another to make amends. We’re missing the other half of the puzzle.
–Rumple is awake! Because of Hook’s sword. I am a ball of rage. They had the PERFECT artifact with Neal’s ball or his shawl and they used Hook’s sword to wake up Rumple. ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH.
–I liked Regina’s red dress but what is up with Snow’s/Mary Margaret’s outfit!
–Mostly solid Arthurian mythology except that Lance never got the Siege Perilous. It’s actually pretty important the it’s not Lance.
DISLIKED
–No. More. Magical. Beans. Ever.
–Magical toadstool to talk to the tree. #Wow
–Once again some terrible morals, or at least twisted ones. Guinevere and Lancelot chose to have an affair. Arthur did not force them to have sex. OUAT has a weird habit of taking away people’s ability to chose and making it someone else’s problem.
–Henry? Who’s that?
–Shouldn’t Baby SnowFlake be older by now?
–Random knight I care nothing about does Arthur’s dirty work.
–Arthur can drive a car?!
