Rumple ran away from a situation that pretty much guaranteed getting killed when he fled the war. Emma’s gonna convince him that he can finally be a brave hero by dying.
Thus far parts of this season are recycled plots from previous seasons, so yeah…why not bring up S3A ending and do it again. They’ve already set it up with what you said and the fact that Arthur apparently wants to make SB the new Camelot (like Pan wanting to make SB the new Neverland)

They aren’t aware. They are writing the way media has been written for a long time and aren’t really listening to the criticisms that people are beginning to notice and pick up on. To them, this is just how you tell a romance on TV

Yes he initially was a sword for hire who captured Snow for King George, but he didn’t know that George was going to poison Snow’s fertility. He regretted it, and did all that he could to make up for his mistake.
