Anyone want to predict tonight’s ratings for 503, “Siege Perilous”?

RG’s guess: 1.7 (bit of a drop with AMC airing TWD marathon leading up to the S6 premiere at 9)

I definitely want to see him actually demonstrate clear remorse for his actions towards Belle rather than the writers using “Belle’s very forgiving” as an excuse to give Hook a free pass.

You may wanna pack a lunch while you wait

Appearently now he (they?) considers STM as one episode. 508 and 509 are going to air together. So he (they?) Consider 512 to be the 100th episode, but technically, 511 is the 100th episode. I

Matt and I have been talking about this over the weekend and while we’re both confused, we think that is sort of how it is going, except that they are counting 508 as one episode but it’s going to be 2 hours. Then 509-511 airs the rest of the fall schedule. STM is back to being one episode instead of two so that 511 is the winter premiere and 512 is the 100th. Which…sure? I mean, I don’t get why it matters because it changes an entire seasons worth of episodes?

I dunno. Matt could probably explain it once he gets back.

Screwball has an interesting essay on the Hook/Belle friendship http://screwballninja.tumblr.com/post/130921026581/belle-and-hook-bffs-prompt-anon-belle-and

    From the above link

I’d love to see Hook apologize to Belle and/or physically protect her this season, but so far he’s treated her with respect and values her opinion. They give each other emotional support without asking for anything in return

Bullcrap to the bolded. See what I had to say about three pages back concerning their scene in Gold’s shop in 502.

After thinking it through some more, I’m giving this episode an 8.5 (and I go into more detail on a few things in my review). It’s a very clever episode, even if Whithouse told you how it would all end in the very beginning with the (innovative) breaking of the fourth wall dialogue.

    LIKED

–The emotional and character moments between the Doctor and Clara, particularly the phone call. The private part between just the two of them had a lot of punch.

–In the same vein, lots of great one liners (though not funny ones) like “Even a ghastly future is better than no future at all. You bent the rules to life and death, so I’m putting it straight.” I love when the Doctor recognizes his own mythicness.

–I thought the introduction (music wise) was really cool.

–The breaking of the fourth wall was innovative and superbly well acted, but I also think it needs to be a one time thing because it did feel like Whithouse was trying to explain his own script to us.

–The fangirl moment when McConnell began to dance around singing “it’s bigger on the inside.”

    DISLIKED

–The Fisher King bore no resemblance to his legendary namesake! The show missed the chance to really drive home the Doctor’s mythic nature by casting him as Percival or Galahad who comes and heals the Wounded King. But the show’s Fisher King was really vague; like what his motivation for anything?

–Could have done without the love stories, especially the one between McConnell (was that her name?) and the Other Guy. The Deaf Girl and the Translator were obviously in love from the start so I didn’t mind that one too much.

–Still strongly dislike the Sonic Glasses

Hmmm. Maybe I’m just looking into it too much but the positioning of that photo is making me lean towards the LGBT relationship actually being Mulan and Ruby.

I’d say the same if it wasn’t the actors posing. But it’s the actors and not their in universe characters. My cookies are still on Mulan and Merida

More thoughts later but right now, 904 “Before the Flood” is getting an 8 (subject to change?) right now. I quite liked the emotional beats, but the story felt…lacking. More later when I’ve had time to really think it through.

Here’s the 905 promo (hi, Maisie!)

I was pondering this earlier, but with Eddy using the word “Hell” to describe 5B, could that play into the theory that they’re going to the Underworld in 5B?

    Quote

    Yes, most likely.

    *scratches head*

Okay. I’m hoping that become more clear; making it 508 and 509 together made sense at the time because they filmed them together, but maybe it is just 508. I’ll change the thread title so we’re not all confused.

But now that I think about it, isn’t Hades split into a bad part for evil people and a good part for good people? Where is intelligent Lady RG with answers?)

Depends on which mythos you’re looking at. The Christian Hell (hades) is for all sinners, though the first level is Limbo (well, so sayeth Dante).

Perhaps you’re thinking of Elysium? I believe originally it was separate from Hades but it sorta gets meshed together at some point. Elysium is for the righteous, those chosen by the gods, or even just those fortunate mortals who are related to the gods.

There’s also Tatrarus which is particularly bad. It houses the Titans (bad dudes….you saw them in Hercules) but also used as a place to house and torment the wicked. If I recall correctly, Tartarus is where some of the most “famous” prisoners people know from Greek mythology are kept–Tantalus, Sisyphus, Ixion.
