KeymasterHow does a Dark One appear without Smoke?
We’ve seen Rump appear and disappear a few times without smoke. Like when he fought Charming in season 1. It’s usually still accompanied by some sound though in my memory.
Yeah it does, I just wonder how it’s accomplished since every time Cora or Regina POOF, there is smoke.

KeymasterBroken heart could refer to both the metaphoric and literal heart. I’m thinking this is the episode where the writers reveal how Emma actually went dark: she crushed a heart, which left her family heartbroken. It’s already been foreshadowed that Emma will kill someone: first with Cruellla, then with Lily and again with Merida.
Prayer circle for Ruby, y’all.

KeymasterPerhaps the sword of Godric Gryffindor was based on Excalibur?
More or less. The hero and his magic sword is an old (and I do mean OLD) trope. Harry and Arthur are both in that classic cosmic hero mold so it’s natural to draw a parallel between the two.

KeymasterI would muster up the energy to talk about how misogynistic that sneak peak is but frankly I can’t even be bothered because it’s just one more drop in a vast ocean

ETA: oh, I should talk about the peek in general, eh? Well, it does nothing for and not because I don’t ship CS but because it’s just a very random moment that needs some heavy contextualization.

KeymasterThat basically solidifies that they are doing Merida and Mulan as the LGBT

KeymasterIf it’s not Regina (who seems the most logical choice given the direction of the season) then I think it’s Charming since 1) his episode and 2) he’s following in Arthur’s footsteps as a heroic knight AND is the guy who will be getting “the relic” in the past (I assume). Meaning that the Siege Perilous will be offered to him, making him a knight of the Round Table and worthy to draw forth Excalibur.

Keymaster1. Thea- I highly doubt that Thea is going to die considering if this was the route the producers would take, it would have been done in Season 3 where what’s his name stabbed Thea in her living room, and left her for dead.
And Thea is actually my number one choice at the moment. Her or Felicity would be the biggest blow to Ollie but I don’t think they’d go and break up Olicity by killing Felicity. That’s ending their show, really. The fandom would never return. But Ollie’s rasion d’etre has always been his little sister. He just started accepting that he can walk in the light and always be in the dark. What better way to show him that there is peril in the light than by his sister’s death. Also, 10 cookies says it was Merlyn.

KeymasterThe pieces of my brain (and heart) aren’t quite back together yet, but here goes.
–I really like the fact that the theme of the season, well this episode at least, is lightness shinning through the darkness. Arrow has been so dark as of late, S3 in particular. It often felt like Oliver was never going to get out of the dark and he would only become more tortured and more depressing. But this episode shows that Oliver wants to stand in the light; he wants to be hopeful and an inspiration. He’s changing and it’s a breath of fresh air.
–Felicity is still awesome. I love that she was bored.
–The ring! Gosh please don’t hold off that proposal for long.
–Thea is going to go loca, isn’t she?
–Diggle. DIGGLE. His “you don’t trust; you don’t love” speech broke my heart. Broke it into two. It’s also just not TRUE. Ollie does trust and he does love. He loves so much but it was a burden to him. He’s starting to realize that loving someone doesn’t need to come with a price. Please let Digg and Ollie come back together.
–Papa Lance WTH. He’s working WITH Darhk?! And preaching to Ollie about monsters?! UMMMMMMM
–WHAT IS THIS ENDING. WHAT IS THIS ENDING AND WHY AM I SCARED. IT’S NOT FELICITY, RIGHT?!
–Damien Darhk is terrifying. He’s into something old and dark and very…powerful. What he’s offering blood up to is likely worse than Darhk himself, plus Ra’s, Slade, and Merlyn.
Overall, fantastic opening episode.
