KeymasterDuring a journey to Camelot, Rumplestiltskin procures a magic gauntlet, an item used to locate a person’s greatest weakness. <small>(“Heroes and Villains“)</small>
Lancelot is one of the Knights of the Round Table, but falls from grace because of a woman. He leaves Camelot behind and travels to the Enchanted Forest, where he ends up working for King George. <small>(“Lady of the Lake“) He also speaks of a magical cup that grants eternal life</small>
While trying to reclaim the kingdom from the Evil Queen, Snow White resigns herself to accepting a life of exile. To boost her confidence, Prince Charming attempts to make a deal with Rumplestiltskin, who stresses that belief in oneself must come from the person and cannot be done with magic. Thus, the prince forges a replica of the Excalibur sword, a weapon originating from Camelot. After planting the sword in a stone, he persuades Snow White to pull it out since only the true ruler of the kingdom can remove, which she does. She then stands up to the Evil Queen by asserting her claim to the throne and her willingness to fight for it. Since Prince Charming told her the sword resulted from a deal with Rumplestiltskin, Snow White attempts to pay the price for it. Rumplestiltskin, recognizing the blade as a fake, erodes the weapon with one touch. Upset at being tricked, Snow White confronts Prince Charming, who reveals his motivation was to draw out the courage he knew she had in her.

KeymasterPassing thoughts:
1) Emma’s in Camelot.
2) Henry should take the dagger.
3) We’re going to be world traveling in 5A, a la NL in 3A

Keymaster(which begs the question why didn’t Rumple try to suck the darkness out of himself in S4A…?)
I would assume because he didn’t want to lose his powers. He wanted to use the hat to free himself from the dagger, but he wanted to have his cake and eat it too by being able to hold onto his magic.
We don’t yet know that the hat sucking (god the things we write) takes powers. I assume Rumple does (maybe…who knows…) so you might be right.
Like mentioned before they don’t have the interest anymore to focus on character instead of plot. If they do wake and use him, it will only be in an advisory capacity on how to deal with DarkOne!Emma now.
Yes I think Bobby is going to be benched (or perhaps asked to be benched) for an amount of time in 5A
ome also speculated that they’re planning for Season 5 to be the final Season, so they would have taken the risk. On the contrary, Adam and Eddy recently confirmed that they don’t have a clear ending date and are planning to milk how many more episodes out of this show as they can.
You and I both know that even if they weren’t planning 5 seasons, that their ability to milk it isn’t exactly up to them and them alone. They might be reluctant to lose him, but they also know that Rumple’s the biggest draw on this show anymore. And if the end is nigh…
Look, all I’m saying is that those who did think he was a goner had some very legitimate points not only from an in-show story telling perspective but from an outside perspective as well

KeymasterI am wanting to stick with Merlin as Lilly’s father because he turns into a dragon in Disney animated cannon during the wizard’s dual in Sword in the Stone and he is the only male we have seen that does so.
I thought about that, but I thought it was Madam Mim who turned into a dragon. Isn’t one of Merlin’s rules, “no dragons” and he ends up turning himself into smallpox to defeat Mim-As-Dragon?
I mean I think you’re right that it’s Merlin who is the father (because in storytelling having Lily say I don’t know who my father is and then having another character talk about a mysterious male figure who apparently is super power and super mysterious means that they are one and the same–like learning that Rumple had a son and learning that Henry’s father is out there somewhere)

KeymasterBy the end of S4, the only way to “rescue” Rumple from the hole they’d dug him, short of killing him off and calling it a day, was a typical deus ex machina plot device. And so, behold, the Hat.
What bothers me is that if they chose to go this deux ex machina route, then why not use the duex ex machina that was already apart of not only the show’s mythos but of Disney mythos? True Love’s Kiss. Is there a reason why Belle didn’t at least try to kiss him? She knows it almost worked once before back in the EF. And even if there is a slim to none chance that it would work, there was no attempt or even the thought of an attempt. It just feels weird that the writers wouldn’t at least have Belle try. Instead they turned to this hat and had it suck Rumple’s darkness out (which begs the question why didn’t Rumple try to suck the darkness out of himself in S4A…?)

KeymasterI said this elsewhere so I’ll just say it again
We’ve never seen Hook actually teach Henry how to *sail*. I know that it exists in Off-Screen-Ville, but the only thing we’ve seen is Hook teaching Henry how to use a sextant. The point is that the writers deliberately made it out that Hook was Henry’s sole teacher which is not true at all, and once again attempted to erase Neal from the picture. Henry easily could have said, “you and my dad taught me” when he was referring to his teacher(s). But in that moment the writers chose to completely forget about Neal which brushes against Henry’s own internal struggle to bring him back at the end of the episode. The writers haven’t had Henry remember his dad *at all* this season, including in this sailing moment, but then suddenly throw in a rather emotional scene about Henry wanting Neal back. It’s a disconnect.
The writers have a tendency to completely ignore Nealfire except when they need to drive home that he’s dead than a doornail, as if they still can’t believe that they need to address him and his death to the audience (since I have yet to see a Hot Seat or the like that doesn’t ponder whether or not Neal could come back after a season that ended with time travel and then a season that ended with everyone’s lives being re-written). So the writers pretty much ignored him all season until Zelena showed up and then “yes, Neal is dead and this is his apartment, he’s dead, and this was a dreamcatcher that meant a lot to him, and he’s dead.” Rumple ignores his dead son until Isaac brings him up but only to reinforce the idea that Nealfire is dead and he ain’t coming back. Henry never mentioned his father all season (except once in trying to manipulate Rumple) including during this sailing moment and then suddenly “I want to bring back my dad with this magic quill because I’m totes sad about it even though I haven’t talked about him or mourned him at all but I can’t cause dead dead dead” followed by the Apprentice, “yes, very good. He’s dead.”

KeymasterSo apparently the darkness was going to consume all the realms, but the Sorcerer (a.k.a Merlin) battled it and managed to “tether” (is this the new “cleave”?)
OMG take it back! If they start to say tether every five second in S5, I am holding you personally responsible.
it to a human soul that could be controlled with a dagger. Thus, the first Dark One was born. According to the S3 episode “Quiet Minds”, this happened at the Vault of the Dark One
Where did this human come from though? Did Merlin just pick any normal Peasant Joe and turn him into the Dark One? (seems shifty!) Or is there more? I mean, on the grand cosmological scale, the Dark One and his “fall” from grace seem pretty Lucifer-y to me. My guess is that there is a lot more to the story than the Apprentice either knows or is willing to tell. At this time, here’s my theory: The Sorcerer and the human who would become the Dark One were close–either lovers or friends or something. The Human got a little above his station, started thinking that he could be bigger and better. His ego..it grew and he became obsessed with having powers. He stockpiled them, never having enough and always wanting more. Until Merlin decided he had to do something about it and cast the Human into the <del>Pit</del> Vault of Eternal Goo and somehow caused this human to become the DArk One.

KeymasterAre you completely shocked that it doesn’t look like we’re getting a corporate tie-in for 5A? It does look like we’re finally getting Camelot, and to my knowledge there’s no Camelot/King Arthur movie coming out this year.
Incredibly shocked. And yeah, I couldn’t find anything Camelot-y either.

KeymasterOkay, I don’t want Rumple to have any power.
If he has power then he’s going to be tempted to get all the powers back and I do not want another season of Rumple trying to stockpile his power out of fear or self pity or self loathing or whatever else. If he’s human, then he’s human and he needs to have an entire season of learning to be human again and making some pretty big apologizes and accepting that he can’t have it all.
