ry4christParticipant
I don’t know what to do with this episode. It was interesting, confusing, and a let-down all at the same time for me.
Liked:
– Rumple was supposed to be a Savior. Great twist. Black Fairy ended up being the evil “born” she was trying to protect Rumple from after searching for it among 1000 babies – also a great twist.
– Robert Carlyle’s acting with Gideon. So much heartfelt emotion. He is somehow able to take all of the nonsense written for him and somehow make it work at least on an emotional level that resonates.
– Continuity with the shears and anti-magic cuff.
Mixed:
– The Dream World and Sands of Morpheus. I like the continuity and it served its purpose for the plot, but now you can retrieve lost memories from when you were a baby in it? Ok….
Disliked:
– They made a big deal out of how Fiona didn’t give Rumple a name, but why didn’t she exactly? Blue and Tiger Lily interrupted her and Malcolm choosing one, and then they just never got around to it? It was set up as an important plot point and then…this.
– The Dark Curse, the “curse to end all curses” was made by just putting two ancient spells together by a self-taught and made fairy? Really?! That’s it?!
– So Fiona was going to crush Tiger Lily’s heart to enact the Dark Curse, because she loves her most. I guess that could work since it’s clear she doesn’t truly love Rumple and what’s best for him and maybe she doesn’t love Malcolm that much? But if she built into the curse that you have to kill the thing you love most, shouldn’t she be smart enough to realize she doesn’t really love Rumple that much or she would have to crush his heart instead of Tiger Lily’s? She loves Tiger Lily more? Huh???
– We’re led to believe the Black Fairy is the ultimate, original evil, but she’s predated by Nimue? To be the ultimate end-all Big Bad, she needed to have been pulling the strings and somehow the reason for all the previous evil and villains throughout the series – didn’t Rumple even say she was as much to Emma a few eps ago? This was a chance for the writers to shows an origin of good and evil story for their universe, and they sadly didn’t.
– I still don’t understand why the Black Fairy put on all the theatrics, and didn’t want her secret told. Why are they now at a point where they “can be a family,” but weren’t when she first got to Storybrooke?
– Still no origin story for Blue. No reason for her shadiness throughout the series. We’ve gotten origin/motivation episodes for characters like Tiny, but not for the “original power?” My only hope is that they make Keegan a regular for S7 and finally get to her story.

– Why does Black Fairy steal babies?????Yeah I’m confused on this as well. Is she trying to replace Rumple? Is it to fill a hole in her heart?
I’m thinking it was maybe this, but also so she’d have workers to mine the dark fairy dust to work toward her escape.

– I don’t understand savior mythology or how black fairy was planning on using the curse to save rumple.I thinks the plan was to send baby Rumple to a land without magic, like Snowing eventually do with Emma and the wardrobe. Tiger Lily even points out that Fiona’s solution would send ALL the children to the LwM.
I just rewatched the scene, and my understanding was that she wanted to send all of the other children to LWM and stay with Rumple in the EF so that Rumple’s killer would be in a different realm unable to hurt him. Otherwise, how would bringing everyone including her and Rumple stop him from being killed?
ry4christParticipantZelena learning to drive is literally me at age 14.
Same. The first time I tried using both feet lol.

I never noticed Snow’s key necklace and it’s resemblance to the storybook’s key – you have such a good eye for detail. Your list of Snow’s close relationships and their losses reminds me of Regina’s line about Snow to Tinkerbell in 3×03: “She’s a monster. Totally indulged and adored. She sort of ricochets through life telling people’s secrets.” As much as I love the show hitting me with a shocking twist, I really hope Snow is who we think she is. If she’s secretly evil that would devastate Charming, Emma, Henry, and Regina. I wouldn’t want to see that after so much growth in those relationships over the seasons, especially with Emma and Henry.
ry4christParticipantI’m guessing Fiona is talking to Tiger Lily here?
ry4christParticipantI actually really like the idea that at least one character doesn’t get a romantic partner as part of a happy ending because realistically not everyone finds/wants a romantic love interest.
Agreed. It’s frustrating that they set up Robin Hood as her “true love,” only to in my opinion pointlessly kill him off. But yeah, the message that you can be single and still have a happy life is a good one. Strong friendships, familial or not, don’t get enough attention on television.
ry4christParticipantAhhhhhh! I can’t wait until Sunday! I have such big expectations for this episode – I really hope it’s not a let down. Best case scenario in my opinion would be to find out not only Black’s secret and how she became evil, but also:
– Blue is confirmed as shady in some way, awesome if she’s also black or her other half
– Black Fairy has been the one behind many of the plot explained as “fate” or “coincidence,” i.e. Pan’s drawing of Henry, Emma and Neal’s first meeting, Regina adopting Henry. Use this ultimate villain as a way to tie everything together show!ry4christParticipantThey’re both good-looking people so they’re going to look very nice, but neither of their outfits really fit their characters in my opinion. If I was their friend in real life attending the wedding, I would think, “Huh. Not what I would expect you to pick,” while nodding and smiling of course! Lol
ry4christParticipantAll the characters who were regulars were in Season 1 except for Zelena, Robin, Will, and Hook and none of them have successfully been integrated into the series. They are all either disliked greatly by the majority of the audience or considered boring and a general waste of time. They have never really been written for successfully.
Without getting into shipping wars, I personally agree with you that Hook was not “successfully” integrated into the show. I wanted his storyline to go a different direction so that a different storyline could play out. But that’s just my personal opinion. I can’t deny that there is a HUGE fanbase for Hook. This forum and many others indicate that he isn’t disliked greatly by the majority of the fandom and many fans don’t see him as boring or a waste of time.
ry4christParticipantMain characters, billed as starring, that were brought in after the Pilot have been August, Belle, Red, Neal, Will Scarlet, Robin, and Zelena. I would agree that Will and Robin especially weren’t written very well and perhaps only gained minimal fans, but August, Neal, Belle, Zelena and even Red have all had sizable fan bases
You forgot one, and it’s arguably the one A and E would use to show that they can bring in new characters to help transition a show and sell a show (for better or for ill)…
Hook.
Oh! I put him in the list in my head and it didn’t make it to the keyboard! Thank you!
