You’re right MatthewPaul – it would still be retconning what was implied if she was actually dead when Alice read the book to her daughter. Still wouldn’t like it, but I could live with the “something terrible” that happened to Anna just being a separation, and that by the time Alice reads the book they’re back together ruling Wonderland (I’m trying to apply the same logic to “something terrible” that Gold applied to “tragic” in the Kathryn incident lol)
[adrotate group="5"]ry4christParticipantI don’t like this explanation, but maybe the last time Alice had contact with Will, he and Anastasia were the White King and Queen. When she read the story to her daughter they no longer were, but Alice didn’t know that.
With Belle and the dagger, it still doesn’t quite make sense because I thought they’ve indicated in the past that the Dark One couldn’t act against what the controller of the dagger desired whether they verbally expressed it or not. Unless, Belle deep down does want Rumple to be able to return.
ry4christParticipantJane’s response. Shake my head. I wish they would just come out and tell what happened instead of stringing us along with the tiniest bit of hope. The only way I see them possibly “redeeming” this is by having Will think Ana is dead, but she actually isn’t, so that they eventually still end up together.
ry4christParticipantChanging the timeline so that Wonderland occurs in the future, would actually be a retcon I’d be okay with.
ry4christParticipant^Yes. Well said. A and E seem to have a much harder time writing compelling stories for their “heroes” than they do for their “villains.” But really, I don’t think Regina’s long redemption arc would have be/would be as effective if Snowing had set the standard for what it means to be a hero (at least what it means according to the show).
ry4christParticipantI love Cora as a villain as well and am excited to see her again this season. In addition to MatthewPaul said, do we know that Cora actually created the magic candle? Perhaps she just acquired somehow, and it was made by someone else.
ry4christParticipant“What happens when you find out that the person that was helping you grow might actually be as bad as the people you were trying to get away from?” Good grief! Did they really do something that horrific. If the Evil Queen is one of the people she was trying to get away from, they have do have done something pretty bad to compare to her. I wonder if they’re over-hyping it. I hope they don’t sacrifice Snow and Charming’s characters for a shock reveal.
ry4christParticipantHas there been a time when we saw Snow or Charming’s heart without a black spot? Maybe the black spot was on Snow’s heart long, long before what she did to Cora.

I hadn’t thought about his abilities of foresight which meant he might have known they’d survive the Chernabog. I have less of a problem understanding it from Rumple’s perspective than I do from Maleficent’s. Even if Rumple didn’t feel like he broke a deal with the QoD, I don’t see how Maleficent wouldn’t see it as a broken deal. So her statement that he never breaks his deals when he’d royally duped her before seems very strange to me. Maybe the rest of the season will bring more info to light on this since it seems like an odd inconsistency to have in back-to-back episodes.
