Hey everyone! I just put up my first Once fanfic, thanks to some encouragement from Josephine and Lady K. It’s just a short little drabble — about 300 words, so very quick to read– but it takes place during the events of Skin Deep from Rumple’s POV.

I almost never draw women, so I’m honestly just happy and surprised that she came out looking like a human being at all. xD Emilie de Ravin/Belle is seriously so pretty though. She was really fun to draw. Although it took me a good 20 mins to get her mouth right and keep her from looking like the Joker. LOL
Anyway, I DO have a deviantart account. I don’t have tons of stuff on it, but I just put a link to it (and my fanfic account) in my signature. Feel free to take a look. I’d love to get some feedback and stuff on it. Thanks again!
I seriously JUST got back from work and was going to check if anyone else had this theory. haha. My iPod died, and since I was without music or podcasts for several hours while performing manual labour, my mind went to Once Upon a Time theories. haha. I was thinking how Bae could possibly stay young enough to meet back up with Rumple, and I went through basically all the examples in mythology I could think of that involve time-warping… Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, etc. etc. I couldn’t think of any good way that would keep Bae young(ish) without completely messing up Emma and Mary Margaret now that they’re stuck in FTL. I mean, we don’t really want them coming back as centenarians and only a few months having passed in Storybrooke. xD
I never even saw this thread, but I definitely agree that Neverland seems like the only valid option. When I was thinking, I wasn’t sure if they’d make Bae himself Peter Pan, or maybe have him as one of the lost boys interacting with Peter, but I definitely think they’ll make use of him in Neverland. Either way, it would be cool. Bae as Peter is an awesome thought, but I also like the idea of him being able to interact with Peter too, because I think it’d be fun to see him with a friend, kind of. Although it would also make sense because although Peter had a band of followers/dependents, he kind of always was a bit of a loner, and that would fit Bae okay because I imagine being abandoned by your kind-of-evil father would give a guy a complex. I think he could use some alone time to figure that one out. xD
Random crackpot theory: I think it would be neat if Peter Pan was like 007 or the Dread Pirate Roberts from Princess Bride in that he’s actually a series of boys filling that role, rather than just one. That way he could meet Peter Pan and maybe be led to Neverland by him, bu then also eventually BE Peter Pan. xD I don’t think this will actually be the case, but it’d be cool. I think it would be fun for him to have someone to kind of lead him around and teach him the ropes. And in my mind, he winds up in this kind of world-between-worlds, maybe like the door-world in Jefferson’s hat, and he’s confused and dazed and crying. And then Peter comes along and looks at him and says, in a really condescending kind of voice, “Why are you crying?” And tada. BFFS.
Another crackpot theory: I think it would be really neat if Wendy and Bae liked each other, and he had the opportunity to go back to earth with her and have a family again/be in love with her/whatever the motivation is, but he doesn’t accept because he knows if he goes to earth he won’t be able to find his father. I think that would be extremely heartfelt because Rumple isn’t even willing to give up his power for Bae, but Bae is willing to give up a life/love/whatever for his dad. D’awww.

No kidding. xD I delayed joining the forums for a few weeks because I felt like it would be hard to wade into the middle of something this big– but the people seemed so much fun and I love the podcasts, so I went for it! Thankfully so far everyone’s been really gracious and nice about my newbie-ness so far, though. haha.
Perhaps part of what made her so completely horrible was her fear of Rumple…of deals she made with him going awry…and/or of having to make more deals with him if she couldn’t get what she wanted on her own.
I think it definitely ups the stakes, that’s for sure. I had thought she made sacrifices maybe by marrying Henry Sr. if she didn’t love him, or that she worked really hard and possibly had to do some awful things like poisoning or sleeping around or the typical things you hear of people doing when they have extreme political ambitions… but bringing Rumple into it adds a whole new level. He seems to have the knack of taking what people TRULY want in order to give people what they want in the moment, so I can get that Cora’s loss was very steep. I think she is concerned for Regina, but more than anything the idea that “I paid dearly for this, don’t let it go to waste” is probably at the forefront.
Kitsis and Horowitz have confirmed that he only got his memories back when he heard Emma’s name.
Okay, yeah. That’s what I always thought, but you’re right about posing some problems regarding how he got Henry. I can only assume that either there was a sort of inevitability about it, he had outside help from somewhere, or he made some sort of provisions ahead of time with his “I can glimpse the future” powers. xD I’m sure this question is moot because I’m sure SOMEONE has, but is there a thread anywhere that talks about how Rumple got Henry? I’d be interested to read the theories on that.
I have Windows 7 now. My other computer had Windows Vista. I think the photoshop was PS 7? It’s quite old – I think it was a hand-me-down from someone at my church or maybe overflow from my dad’s company or something. I had it several years ago and I have about the same memory retention span as Dory from Finding Nemo, so I can’t tell you exactly. xD
I think I can probably find the discs somewhere in my house, but the problem I have is that because my computer crashed and I had to wipe the hard-drive, adobe thinks the registration number was already used, so it won’t let me put it on my new computer.
Someone else I spoke with suggested looking at purchasing photoshop elements. Are you familiar with the program at all? Does it have selective colouring and layers and brushes and features like that for creating photomanipulations and original graphics?
My problem so far with Mulan is that she was SO AWESOME in the Disney movie, and I felt like she was kind of flat so far in the premiere. She didn’t really have a personality except that her and Aurora had friction, she may or may not be hitting one someone else’s prince, and that she’s good at fighting. On the one hand, they didn’t have too much time to expound, and there was a lot of plot-movement and exposition going on to fill the audience in on what the heck was going on (and where the heck were they and is it the Enchanted forest or isn’t it?), but on the other hand I think they could have done a bit better with the time they did have.
However, I definitely agree that her backstory will fill a lot of things in. So far I haven’t been disappointed with any of the characters, once we get to know them more. I have faith in the writers. There’s probably a good reason for her being so cold and clipped. I hope. xD I hope she’s awesome soon, seriously. And yes, a Captain Shang would also not go amiss.
Hannah: Wow. xD You put a lot of thought into this proposed family tree. xD Or family tumbleweed, as Faux Pax mentioned. haha. If you’ve never heard the old song “I’m my own grandpa”, I suggest you look it up, because you and the song writers apparently both have very good minds for complicated familial relationships. xD
Faux Pax: I did notice that Gold looked different! Is there any evidence of him being not-as-golden earlier chronologically? I just assumed he looked different because it’s earlier on… 20 years before most of the Snow White/Prince Charming/etc. things are going on. I know his voice changed a lot from when he was hanging out with Bae still, but I didn’t see if his face was any different in appearance. Has anyone else been keeping tabs on that?
Also, with Rumple’s attitude towards Regina– I kind of got the feeling that he kind of considered her as his rightful belonging. Like, he had a deal with Cora, and maybe got swindled or beaten out of it, but he always kind of still felt like he deserved to have Regina. So now that they’re reunited, everything was back the way he planned. I didn’t get so much paternal as maybe possessive? Anyone else get this vibe?
I agree that I originally thought she was taking a dig at Rumple’s appearance in the Enchanted Forest, but reading these theories about the Wizard of Oz makes me feel SO pumped for the idea of the Wicked Witch of the West. Seriously, it would be so awesome. I can really see Regina and the Wicked Witch having some awesome cat fights and and some even crazier tangled webs of power struggles. I would have to say that if this IS a reference to the fact that the Wicked Witch might be coming, that I don’t think Regina WOULD be the Wicked Witch. I think they’d have to be distinct.
One, my gut instinct just says that it would feel too weird and kind of unexpected and out of place for the show… I can’t imagine watching Regina turn green. xD Two, Cora misused magic all the time, and she never changed appearance. Regina seems to be much like her, with her type of magic, so unless the magic on earth is really screwy, I don’t think it would change her appearance. Rumplestiltskin’s magic seems to be distinct, more a part of him because he IS the Dark One, so I think his change in appearance is more related to the type of magic and the manner of acquiring it. I could be wrong, though. Anybody agree/disagree?
Does anyone else find it odd in the first group promo pic that Belle (happily) and Rumple (reluctantly) both seem to be toasting to Regina? David too, really. I wasn’t a big Lost-watcher, but if the pictures DO mean something, I wonder what that’s all about.
They are super fun pics though. xD I’m especially in love with the fact that Snow is sharpening a billion pencils in a ballgown. And that Rumple is knitting a gold scarf. I assume out of the gold yarn he spins. xD
I also really like the one of Emma in the armor. I bet she’s going to have as much influence in FTL as in Storybrooke. I bet Snow could teach her a few tricks, too. haha.
