Participantupdated!
I was rewatching on a European connection and heard MM say that she had given the book to Henry about a month ago. So it isn’t like he had it a long time. I am just wondering how he made all the connections that Emma is SW’s daughter makes sense from the book, but how did he know his mom was Emma, and how did he figure she was SW’s daughter, and how did he connect the dots to figure out that the town, was cursed and his adopting mom, an evil queen, etc.? And why would Regina adopt someone knowing they would grow up while everyone else in town remains in a stasis? I mean it would be rather short-sighted on her part.

ParticipantWell we all pretty much knew on this forum that Skin Deep would be winning, but that is why I gave everybody TWO votes. You said you wanted to know which would have won without Skin Deep. Second place should be your answer 🙂

ParticipantMy husband is watching the episodes with me while re-watching this summer. So, fascinating to watch knowing what I know now. I don’t think though that the finale and Skin Deep can be beat for me, but we shall see… 😀

ParticipantMalificent’s castle and her dragonly body are the same as in Sleeping Beauty

ParticipantYeah, Heart is a Lonely Hunter came in fourth in that first 1/3 of the season poll. Seriously there were only a few episodes that I thought lacking in comparison to the rest of the season, but I think even those have won me over more in this “off”-season. 😀

Has Rumple really ever had to “pay” for any of the magic he’s done? For refusing to give it up, yes, he lost both Bae and Belle but for all the spells he’s cast or all the trouble (I’m going to say trouble because he can be a devious little imp) he’s caused, it doesn’t seem like he’s had to pay anything. He got what he wanted: to our world through his curse. It does follow that at some point he’s going to have to pay a price. And perhaps Regina saying that Henry shouldn’t have to pay the price for HER magic (and his reply of “no, you should but alas here we are…”) is actually a foreshadowing of Rumple having to pay for his magic.
We have heard all magic comes with a cost or price consistently enough in this series. But what has Rumple actually don for himself. The magic he has exacted has usually been for others at their request– Cinderella, Jiminey, Snow White, Belle & the Ogre Wars, Regina. He is actually more a “maker” of magic, not a “user” of magic, in the episodes we have seen so far. He used the fairy wand, but for Cinderella, he made a potion for Jiminey and Snow, He stopped the Ogre wars for others, he created the curse for Regina to use, as far as I have seen, he has not used magic for himself. Perhaps there is a rule like Jefferson stated about the hat when he said if two can go in then only two can come out, so perhaps the rule for the use of magic is that there is a cost — just like the genie said about granting 1000 wishes…
Rumple seems to exact a price/cost in most of his deals for the use of magic, but now that he has used magic for himself, well, the question definitely is “is there a cost that will be required of him?”

The writer in me says yes, stylistically, it would make sense if Gold never finds Bae. The scene in thr forest between August and Gold can’t be repeated; you can take an audience into that well only once, because the emotions are so deep and intense. For the real Bae to show up and for the writers to try to recreate those emotions in the audience, it would only be an echo. So deep down, I can agree with the Bae is gone theory. Gold got to have the forgiveness he needed ; we got the chance to experience that with him,
But the fangirl in me can’t handle a Bae loss. Not after Charlie and Jin and Sayid and Sun and Locke and Jack and…
I totally agree with this summation. That is why I think there will be a twist… some twist by the writers. I also believe that if Rumpel could create so detailed a curse that he designed it to come to the time and place where Bae is. So I have come to believe he is alive. I have to wonder if he didn’t end up kind of like Pnnochio and Emma in a foster care system. Perhaps they even met.
It is not hard for me to believe August and Bae have met, because I do not think there would be any other way (except maybe the BF) for August to be able to draw a picture of that knife. I keep wondering if he and Bae might have been in Phuket together.

Some of these are very good recaps from the season or a certain story. A few are cutesy. There are several Rumpel and Belle, but you wouldn’t believe how many of those I looked through to narrow it down to the ones I have. And the song A Thousand Years by Christina Perri was obviously a favorite, but I truly tried to look at story telling and editing with the song, etc. There are a few I still need to add from the like list. It just takes a lot of time to figure out where to put them in the list 🙂
Looking for a good video of Red that tells what little we have of her story. Saw a new one listed in the last few days but haven’t had a chance to watch yet.

ParticipantI guess my thought is that if Rumpel was going to have his memory wiped until he met the “trigger” that would help him recall, he had an awful lot of foresight and insight, whether educated guesses or foreknowledge to put it all in place.
I admit I do not understand the need to bring the magic back to Storybrook. My first thoughts were he has found Belle, the curse is broken so he could find Bae. I took it that when he explained to Belle that the waters of the well were known to recover something one has lost… that he perhaps meant Bae, but then when he said to her it was magic and magic was power, everything inside me screamed he brought back the thing he loved most … not Bae, but power. I admit I was shocked. I really don’t understand why he chose that first over finding Bae. Seems more logical to me that he would find Bae then think about the power, but then that wouldn’t be very Rumplestitskinish would it? His desire for power will be his end eventually.
So then I thought did he plan all those things and have such tremendous foresight/ foreknowledge only to have power in another world. Did he see the magic going out in FTL? What’s up with that? And what about Bae? I stand confused frankly, and obviously there is more to his plan. Bring the magic has just started a new phase. Phase I — develop the curse and get Regina to enact it; Phase II — break the curse in the new world; Phase III — Bring back the magic and…
