ParticipantI’m with hjbau. I saw everything breaking up around them when the curse happened. In the episode with the sinkhole we see SW’s glass coffin broken and at the bottom of the elevator shaft when Regina drops the piece back down. FTL is destroyed. Not that the writers couldn’t somehow reverse the curse and restore it, but for now there seem to be pieces of it all over and under and around SB.
As for August, I am not a Pinnochio theorist, but it will not ruin the show for me if the writers do a good job connecting it up, and I would say that so far they have not disappointed me. “Dreamy” was probably my least favorite episode, but it wasn’t really connecting anything up for me, either.
The one thing about August’s leg that I think would be kind of neat, is that maybe outside of SB August could live a normal life as a boy/man, but by coming back to SB to help Emma, he is affected by the curse now and is turning back into wood. He needs Emma to believe to keep him from becoming wood again. Crackpot theory, I know, but it would/wood be interesting 🙂 I still want to see if Emma can leave SB. I think she is stuck there now that she has arrived.

I agree. I hope that his character ends up being interesting in the end. I think that is one of the reasons i don’t like him being Pinocchio. That doesn’t seem all that interesting. And it doesn’t have anything to do with the curse or information about the curse or anything like that.
I couldn’t agree more
me too!

ParticipantAugust wears several curious pieces of jewelry, including: a metal bracelet, a gold chain bearing a golden claw or tooth-shaped pendant, and a silver cross or tree-like object hanging from a longer silver chain.
The name August means “great, magnificent”; Wayne means “wagon builder or driver”; and Booth means “dwelling place.” This may imply that he is a major character coming home.
The pages he added to Henry’s book were from the fairytale “The Golden Bird”
In the episode ‘Red-Handed”, August claims to be very well-traveled, having spent at least a year abroad, visiting places as far as Nepal.
While talking to Henry he tells him that he is a believer, and thinks the books stories are real

ParticipantPhee – Sorry, not knowing gender, I fall to the English grammar rules. 😳

ParticipantNo worries, Phee. Please reread what I wrote above, I added an edit:)
LOL, if those are coming from spoilers you found I want to know where you are getting your info. Maybe you are hearing sooner because you're an Aussie. I know the Aurora one was after watching Mad Hatter because I saw somewhere where you mentioned the doll looking like a princess. Maybe you read or heard about K & H wanting to use Aurora next season before I did:)

ParticipantLOL, Midnight Dreary, I changed your previous call. Are you sticking with this one? 😆
Can’t wait to see who August is after all the calls of who he is and who he is not.
Phee and hjbau — I am torn about what to do here. I agree with hjbau that your call is very close to being a spoiler. Thing is that those people staying spoiler free don't know the difference, and I can only guess who looks at spoilers by what they post in other places. I personally am not a spoiler free person and so have to watch what I call myself. I am going to post your call Phee, but mostly because I know the spoilers and although I think the blue fairy is involved I don't know that she is the cause. We will see. A technical point, I know. Also, the things Phee has called so far have not been from any spoilers I have seen. They seem to be his own thoughts. I appreciate both of you and your writing along with some others. We have all been around together for awhile now, so please don’t stop posting your calls. We will just try to honor Daniel’s No Spoilers rule since this is supposed to be a spoiler-free thread.

ParticipantMaybe it is citizens of the EQ’s realm that were affected, even if they were in another land.
I also posted on the “Who is the stranger? thread” about the idea of August being Merlin. Found a post about that, that someone else had written on a blog. I kind of like that idea too, although my favorite so far is Peter Pan. Least favorite idea: Pinnochio.

ParticipantFound this blog about the Stranger’s necklaces and also a post underneath of a theory about the stranger being Merlin. Didn’t want to take credit for something I didn’t write, thus the link.
http://ouatv1.blogspot.com/2012/02/once-upon-time-strangers-necklaces.html (THIS IS NOT A SITE WHERE THEY COVER/ BLACK OUT *SPOILERS* IN THEIR WRITING. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU WANT TO STAY SPOILER-FREE)The theory of him being Merlin kind of interests me. In Sword in the Stone Merlin had Wart for an apprentice. What if Bae were to become Merlin’s apprentice in our story? What if Bae gave Merlin/August Rumpel's knife? What if Bae has been working with Merlin to break Rumpel’s Curse? What if the reason we see August holding the knife up at Mr. Gold in the promo is because he is waiting for Mr. Gold to wield some kind of magic? Maybe we will find out in one of these last episodes if there is any FTL magic that has crossed over to SB.
The only other ideas that register interest with me right now are August being Bae, which I’m leaning toward, “not”, at the moment because of recently reading some interview info that doesn’t seem to favor this idea, but I admit it makes a lot of sense to me to a certain extent; and some aspect of Peter Pan, either a lost boy or Peter Pan himself that has now grown up (This is my favorite theory about August). I suppose he could be Pinnochio, but for some reason I do not like that idea. So, if they make him Pinnochio, I hope they do a convincing job of it. I am however, leaning toward Pinnochio being the 7 year old who finds Emma on the side of the road.
I know several people keep saying stuff about the Peter Pan copyright, but everything I have read about the copyright and the US doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to work out, especially since Disney has already done Peter Pan. http://neverpedia.com/pan/Ownership_of_the_Peter_Pan_works
So I keep thinking that K & H are just trying to keep the PP idea at bay so it will surprise us all, but we will know soon enough, I suppose 😮
