ParticipantFrom Lily Sparks:
Historically, OUAT has done an amazing job of physically matching child actors to the grown actors who play the same character. OUAT also has, famously, little to no racial diversity in its cast. The majority of people of color onscreen are peripheral characters that disappear after a few episodes. Lily, an original character whose arc is becoming increasingly important, was originated by the super-talented Nicole Munoz and I think we all assumed the wizards behind OUAT’s eerily on-point child-to-adult casting would figure out a great aged-up lookalike counterpart for her, ergo a Latina. And they didn’t, and that’s a huge missed opportunity for both the show and the thousands of Latina actresses in Hollywood who need parts like this.

Participant@Phee – Ugh. Emma’s lack of emotional response upon entering Neal’s apartment was just plain annoying, but yeah, not unexpected. *sigh* I wish I could be upset enough to care, but yeah, I don’t anymore. Emma is no longer the same Emma as she was in S1-S3a.

ParticipantJohn Innes as Older Man
The Sorcerer perhaps?
Jeremy Patrick Schuetze as Young Man
Young Apprentice or Sorcerer?
The actors playing the young and old men have similar eyes. Maybe they’re playing father and son, or perhaps even the same character at different life stages.

ParticipantFrom what I’ve read, A&E said that we should have hope for Rumbelle. Maybe, he won’t die, and it won’t be over. I’m hoping they do a Beauty and the Beast sort of thing where Rumple almost dies before Belle breaks the curse.
Adam said the same thing about Neal and Emma, but that was before Neal died. And Neal ‘died’ in S2 only to be brought back in S3a just to be killed off in S3b in the worst, most rushed manner. So, let that be a caution about these writers. Buzz words like “hope” and “redemption” are almost devoid of any real meaning. What happened to Swanfire could easily happen to Rumbelle — and may have already.

ParticipantThe more I think about it, the less likely Zelena really being pregnant seems to be. Why would Zelena want to be saddled with a baby? Just to get one up on Regina? While I could see her using a pregnancy to her advantage, I can’t see her embracing motherhood. Zelena seems more like Cruella. Does she really wish to be a mother the same way Regina and Maleficent do? Not likely. Zelena seemed to be mocking marriage and motherhood in her phone conversation with Regina. Also, I’m thinking Zelena’s ‘pregnancy’ is a misdirection. The real twist and reason for the 6-week time jump is that Regina, rather than Zelena, will really be pregnant with Robin’s child.

ParticipantI’m thinking the twist at the end of the season is going to be the heroes and the villains swap places. That would mean Regina and Robin Hood take the place of Snow White and Prince Charming. However, whether that is the result of the Author tampering with the current story or simply reverting it back to the way it always should’ve been is the main question. Was page 23 something that actually happened but was then erased? Or is page 23 just an alternate reality, a what-might-have-been if Regina hadn’t chickened out of meeting Robin in the tavern? I think we will find out the answer to that question next week, based in the promo.

Participantthat is a VERY good question. Did the Apprentice cause Lily to become “darker” by telling her about her darkness to being with??
While I think the Apprentice is in the same league of shadiness as the Blue Fairy, I’m not sure that it was his intention to make things worse (but maybe he did, despite his intentions) He said to Lily, “I shouldn’t even be telling you this,” which makes me think he was more concerned with trying to right a wrong by telling her the truth. However, he chose a bad time.
And also, he should’ve offered to help her. Maybe he did, but she rejected it (what with Lily being who she is and making bad choices all the time). If that’s the case, then Lily still made her own decisions.
I still wonder though if the Apprentice has been tasked with seeing that Lily turns into the next Apprentice (he’s looking pretty old). The Sorcerer said Emma and Lily’s fates had been entwined even before the Apprentice drove Emma’s potential for darkness into Lily (something I’m not sure actually happened, seeing how the Chernabog still went after Emma for having the darkness potential).
Why is that? Does the Sorcerer know Lily is special like Emma? What is Lily’s destiny? Was Lily special even before the Author screwed up her life?

ParticipantOverall, I enjoyed this episode for many of the same reasons I enjoyed watching Manhattan (which this episode felt like rehash of in some ways, what with Emma’s deja vu reunion with Lily and then Neal’s apartment). The themes of fate, destiny, and freewill are interesting. It was good to see Emma’s past catch up with her future. However, I will say the Zelena-baby fiasco is totally murky (gives “sister wives” a whole new meaning). I just hope that Zelena turns out to be lying about being pregnant. Oh, and I imagine this episode is going to be a low point for Rumbelle in that I think it’s totally over (as if it weren’t already in 4×11); but this time Rumple gave his blessing for Belle to move on with Will (not that she needed it). But Rumple’s acknowledgment that Will treated her far better than he ever could just made it seem 100% over.

ParticipantSorry, but I think this goodbye speech by Rumple to Belle was the end. Rumple gave his blessing for Will to be with Belle. As Rumple said to Belle, “I’m returning your heart, but he [Will] is going to protect it.” While I think Belle will always have a place in her heart for Rumple, I think she knows deep down in her core that Will treats her far better than Rumple did. As sad as I am to say it, I think Anastasia will be dead, too. And I say this as a huge fan of ScarletQueen. I do not take this lightly. However, I will acknowledge that if Belle and Will had to start over with someone, they couldn’t have picked a better partner than they did. I think Will is a sweet and loyal catch (just watch Wonderland), and that Belle is a deserving, kindhearted character.
