Participant“It’s not over, I see you both again.” Sometimes I wonder if that was A&E message to us SFers, “It’s not over.” Also Rumple to Bae,”Your happiness is possible, just not with me.” “Your happiness is possible.” So what is Bae happiness, we already know to Bae that is Emma and Henry, his family. So is A &E slipping in that his happiness with Emma and Henry is possible.
Yep! And don’t forget “happy endings being with hope!” And we all know who Snow believes to be Emma’s happy ending: Neal! Snow still believes Emma owes it to herself to do the hard thing, to open herself up to love with Neal, because it’s worth the risk!
keep the faith Swanfire FTW
Keeping it alive! Love the song choice!

What Hook is following Emma and telling her that he has proof of the crazy things he is saying by trying this potion that he has or going to such and such apartment in Manhattan (Neal’s apartment) but she’s had enough of it and calls the cops on Hook and as he is being taken away, he tells her just go see the apartment, just look. And while he is in jail, her curiosity gets the better of her and she does in fact go and see the apartment. And finds the dream catcher and other stuff there and is in shock at starts to get images of Neal falling through the portal after being shot, of them meeting in Manhattan when she is looking for Rumple’s son, hugging after her confession in the caves, etc. or something like that. Something starts to jog her memory enough that she starts to believe Hook and then bails him out and takes the potion. So her hidden love for Neal starts to jog her memory and the blue potion finally unlocks the rest of her memories. Thoughts? Other ideas?
Emma might start to entertain the notion Hook is telling the truth when she sees the dreamcatcher. But I don’t know if the dreamcatcher alone is enough to trigger her true memories, just as the chipped cup alone was not enough to trigger Belle’s memories in S2. “Lacey” still required the BF’s elixir in the cup to remember she was Belle. But the dreamcatcher could be how Emma discovers Neal sent Hook. Emma holding the dreamcatcher could be like a flash sequence like in 1×22 when Emma held the storybook and believed all the fairytales are actually true. But I don’t know if she’ll actually regain all her memories until she drinks the Blue Fairy’s potion.

Someone on here brought up Grumpy and how he’d rather remember the good and the bad. Do you think that applies to Emma? Would she rather just live a normal life with Henry than never see her parents again or Neal again?
Based on how she was living, her interaction with Cursed!Henry Emma seems to be ok for herself. I think she struggled early on (or remembers struggling) but that in the end she did it all herself. But I think no orphan ever stop wanting to see their parents.
I agree. I think Emma is back to feeling a bit like that orphan girl who wondered why her parents and Neal would ever give her up. She doesn’t know anything yet about the dark curse being the reason that all of them let her go. As much as she loves her son and probably delights in having him with her, she’ll always have that nagging question of why? The question of one’s true identity and being both the good and the bad is a reoccurring theme (e.g. as Grumpy, David and Snow have all discovered). I think that having fake memories can be a blessing and a curse. It reminds me of the film “Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind” in which a man intentionally undergoes a medical experiment to forget the pain of heartbreak only to discover it comes with a cost. I recommend it, and I think that is what Emma is basically reliving. I really hope that Emma doesn’t forget who she is for too long, otherwise it’s going to be like skeptical Emma from S1 all over again. If and when Emma does recover her memories, she may better appreciate the truth now about why her parents and Neal let her go. It’s not because she’s unlovable; it’s actually because they loved her and wanted her to have her best chance. Yet, Emma regaining knowledge of the truth about having let Henry go and realizing her implanted memories are fake could be devastating for her. Imagine a mother discovering that the child she thinks she raised was actually given up by her for adoption! Talk about devastating!

ParticipantDid the book magically appear? Did Henry’s loneliness call the Book into existence? Was it planted there?
I’m thinking it was planted there by someone. I’m starting to wonder about who exactly Christopher Gorham will be playing. We know he’s someone important in the life of Emma. Just how important is he? Did he plant the book in Mary Margaret’s closet to ensure that Henry would come looking for Emma, thereby making her the savior? Who exactly is he? The author of the book?
And of course: one of the biggest questions of them all, after 2.5 seasons…who do you now think wrote the book?
I still think the Blue Fairy knows who wrote the book. Perhaps she even did herself. In the EF flashback to Snow and Charming, the BF let it be known their story would find its way to Emma somehow. How could the BF know that unless she had a hand in writing it or knows who wrote the book? I still think this was all part of the BF’s “final preparation” to ensure Emma would save everyone.

ParticipantHere is some food for thought from Schmacky on Tumblr:
Last season Emma and Neal were separated.
But they said I love you to one another.
This time they’re separated again.
But he said this isn’t over and he’ll see them again. And we see that Emma chose to live in New York of all places. Why not Boston? Why New York? A city we know only had relation to one other character… Neal. And there’s also Charley’s Girl playing. A song that has no relation to any other character but… Neal.
They always separate the Big Endgame Couple. Standard television writing 101, man. And each time Emma is separated from him, Hook is there to squirm his way in. Meaning, he is the obstacle.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, this ship is angsty and is not meant for a weak-hearted shipper. So do not worry people. This separation, the fact that it’s not Neal at Emma’s door is once again… a good thing.
But you know what Separation also means? Reunions! We get yet another Emma and Neal reunion. Another Neal and Henry reunion! Yay!

ParticipantLove is a lot bigger than one person. You can love a man and a child, just as you can love both (or all, if you have more than two) of your parents. It doesn’t have to be a replacement.
I’m not saying that Regina would ever stop loving Henry just because she falls in love with Robin Hood. There are many different types of love: romance, family, friends. Currently, the reason Regina and Henry can’t be together ever again is because he is the person she loves most. Yet, if Regina were to fall in love with Robin Hood, he might become the most important person in her life going forward, now that Henry is out of the picture. That is not to say a husband could ever take the place of a child or vice-versa, but in terms of importance, Robin Hood would then become the most important person in Regina’s life. There are seasons to every person’s life. It’s like when a child leaves home for college, and suddenly a mother is left wondering what next to pour her heart into. In Regina’s case, she might pour her entire heart into loving Robin Hood. It’s similar to the debate about whether Belle or Baelfire is truly Rumple’s idea of a happy ending. Well, the answer is both, but either one of them could be the most important person to Rumple, just in different ways.

ParticipantPhee wrote: Maybe I’m just being naive, but I’m really not convinced that they’re actually gonna end up being an actual relationship. I mean, if they’re gonna end up back in SB, then Emma has to remember, right? Whether it’s the potion, or seeing the dreamcatcher, Hook WILL get Emma to remember somehow. And it may well happen in 312, because that shot in the promo can only be from 312 or 313, because it’s all they’ve shot, and as far as we know, they were only shooting NYC stuff for 312. So, Hook’s gonna spend time around her and Henry, observing how they get along with fake memories and no Neal, and then he’ll likely also be there when they both remember, and Neal is gonna be one of the first things that both of them remember, and then it’s gonna smack Hook in the face that not only does Neal love Emma, but she loves him right back, (he’s been cocky thus far because he doesn’t think Emma would want Neal back), and though he’s made a comment about “doing it for the boy”, he’s gonna be smacked in the face by exactly how much Henry’s dad means to him.Hook’s gonna witness that single parent family, which he didn’t get to see that other time, because Milah left with him, and he never saw what the single parent family left behind was like. But this time he can’t ignore it, can’t ignore the emotions involved for everyone, can’t ignore how his actions would affect them all if he insists of pursuing Emma.
Dare to dream! That is something I’d love to see for Hook: real character growth. I want to see him really choose to put his son figure’s happiness ahead of his own, just as Rumple and Regina sacrificed their own happy ending with their respective sons, Neal and Henry. There was this reoccurring theme in 3×11 “villains don’t get happy endings.” Yet, we saw that Rumple and Regina found their redemption, though a huge personal costs to themselves by letting go of their hope for a happy ending with their sons, Neal and Henry, respectively. And Hook? Well, some CS fans are arguing that he found his redemption, but has he experienced real personal sacrifice yet? I’d argue no. Even though Hook had to go an entire year of separation from Emma, he still carried the hope that she’d somehow feel the same way about him (um dude, she’s cursed). Anyway, the kiss didn’t work and Hook got kneed where the sun doesn’t shine. Perhaps Hook’s true redemption has yet to occur yet, in the sense that he’s yet to experience real personal sacrifice. Could Hook’s sacrifice be to let Neal have a real second chance with Emma, not because Hook expects Neal to fail, but because he actually wishes his quasi-step-son real happiness with Emma and Henry, as Rumple did?
Phee wrote: And if he’s been hanging out with Neal for a year, he’s probably got a new perspective on just how much Emma means to him as well. It seem that Emma, Hook and Henry, are gonna drive back to SB, and you know what I’d love, a scene where Henry’s fallen asleep in the back seat, and Emma tells Hook the story of where the Bug comes from, and when he realises that and how she kept it because of her love for Neal, that could impact him too. I dunno, like I said, maybe I’m being naive. but they’ve shown him try with the kiss at the door, and seemingly admit defeat, and he’s gonna be helping Emma and Henry to remember Neal, and how can that NOT affect him? And maybe I’m also naive to hope for that sort of character development from Hook so soon, but it just seems like a great situation where he ends up getting a reality check, and he LEGITIMATELY backs off after the NYC stuff.
I wonder too if Hook’s words were admitting that he was hoping Emma and he would be together in the end but realizing that is not going to happen. Yet, I still think Hook is going to try to woo Emma while she has no memory of him, which could actually be to Hook’s advantage, since then he’s have eliminated his competition with Neal since Emma has forgotten the real reason Neal let her go was to save her family. Yet, I think Hook will probably succeed in helping stir Emma’s memories (e.g. perhaps by showing her Neal’s dreamcatcher), in which case, you could be right. Maybe Hook is there as a favor to Neal to get Emma to save him, along with her parents? Perhaps over the course of a year, they’ve discovered their friendship means more than anything. I’d love to see this be the case!
