ParticipantThere is no way that they would be dumb enough to let Hook date Regina after the way the vast majority of the audience hated Emma dating him.
I never thought they’d be dumb enough to let Emma and Hook seriously fall for each other either…. I think the writers are being more careful with Wish Hook though. Rather than coming across as a womanizing creep, he is being written as a concerned father in the flashbacks and as a good cop as Officer Rogers in the present. The writers probably want to make him more likable and less icky than they did Hook 1.0 in season two. If they continue to spin Wish Hook as a loving dad in season seven, then I could see him having a lot in common with Regina who is projecting a big Mama Bear vibe now.

ParticipantSo they made Tiana a princess of some sort, but only of a small kingdom within another kingdom? Do I have that right? I’m very confused about how her kingdom works. I also am not sure how I feel about her story being totally different.
I think she is the princess of a very minor principality that might then owe fealty to an overlord king. It would be very similar to the minor principalities that were technically under control of the Holy Roman Empire in central Europe until 1806. That would make Tiana a princess but her parents would also be a prince and princess rather than a king or queen.
I am still not feeling Jacinda, I don’t know what it is but she comes off as emotionally impulsive and a little mean. I mean who takes all the money and is perfectly happy throwing her roommate out of the apartment. If the show is going to do this they also need to show us her transformation and guilt afterwards. Instead we got some stupid line about how Lucy called her and talked sense into her. Didn’t buy it. But on the positive side I did like how she talked about how Tiana is always there to lift her up and that she now realizes that she needs to return the favor. That would have been way more effective if she had come to that realization on her own without Lucy’s pep talk and then have both her and Tiana decide to buy a food truck together as a friendship decision.
Dislike: Sadly, I’m really struggling to like Jacinda too this season. I really wanted to root for her and Henry to work it out. However, now I don’t really feel like she is worthy of him. I don’t know if it is the dumb way that Jacinda’s character is written or the way that Dania Ramirez plays the role. Part of the problem is that she comes across as annoying and whiny. The other problem is that Jacinda seems to flail about from one disaster to the next like she is always struggling to be an adult. At first, I thought that could be part of the dark curse, but now I think it is just part of the character. By contrast, Sabine, who is also cursed, still comes across as a capable, mature adult who at least resolves to try to fight back. Sabine strikes me as having a mature outlook on life, and she comes across as having a can-do spirit compared to Jacinda, who always seems to whine and have an excuse. Jacinda seems like she is always drowning and making poor choices.
I also wish we had Weaver and Tilly this week. After the amazing episode that was 7×4, it was a really big let down not to have them this week! I think they are going to be one of my favorite duos going forward.
Neutral: I’m also pretty neutral about Rogers’ ongoing investigation. Unless it turns out to have major relevance to the plot, then it’s hard to be excited about it at present.
Liked: Andrew West, in contrast to Dania Ramierez, is doing a very good job as Adult Henry, and he seems to hold his own against some very talented actors like Lana Parrilla. I’m really happy with the mother-son development that is taking place between Roni and Henry even though they are both cursed. I am curious to find out what will happen now that the photograph has been discovered. Will they pursue more evidence like an adoption record? Will they wake up soon? And I want to know why Ivy/Drizilla seems to want to gain the trust of Henry and Roni. Does she really want their help to break the dark curse to defeat her mother?
I liked Sabine in the modern day and the way she tried to rally Lucy and Jacinda. I didn’t love or hate Tiana’s back story. I just sort of watched without much reaction. I did like Sabine a bit more in the present day though. She had a free spirit and great attitude. I think the actress also has a lot of natural charisma that carries over on screen in a way that the actress who plays Jacinda just doesn’t seem to have so far.
Really liked: I really enjoyed the opening scene between Victoria and the mysterious witch! I thought their talk about belief and needing to root it out like a weed was really well done and well acted.

ParticipantThat could be amusing and make for some funny hijinks and misunderstandings ? Of course the show could pull a trick on us and *actually* have Regina and Wish Hook together…. It would appear they have spent about 10 years in each others company helping Henry, and this show is all about true love… blah. I hope if they give one/both of them partners that they end up being with other people, for many reasons, but one of those reasons would be how much more awkward introductions to the family, as well as family holidays, would be ?
I would be in favor of Wish Hook and Regina ending up together. There was a line in 7×3 when Cinderella meets Regina and Hook. Henry introduced Regina as his mother while Cinderella incorrectly assumes Wish Hook is Henry’s dad, to which Wish Hook said “not quite.” While Hook 1.0 is technically Henry’s step-dad via Emma now, it would be highly amusing if Wish Hook became Henry’s other step-dad via Regina. I think it makes for so many awkward but entertaining situations for the show to have the very lonely Roni and Rogers fall for each other.

ParticipantEven though he makes deals, Dr. Facilier probably isn’t cursed as a dark one. While he does use black magic, I think he is more of a self-taught dark sorcerer similar to the Evil Queen and Cora, only male.

ParticipantIt would be interesting to know some numbers for international viewing since that was a factor in green lighting S7. Also, I’ve seen comments from people in other countries on OUAT reaction videos on YouTube claiming the show is popular in places like the U.K.
I’m not sure I’d buy those claims on YouTube because OUAT stopped being aired on British TV around the end of S2! It might only be “popular” on Netflix.

ParticipantMaybe the 8th witch will be Robyn. How old would she be now? Maybe 15?
With the news that a young, 22-year-old actress has been cast to play Robyn, I think you’re right that she is probably the 8th witch in question (though it remains unclear who the 7 other witches are).

ParticipantI’m putting cookies on this being another Tiana-centric where she opens a restaurant in HH.
I think your guess is spot on! Reminds me of the food expression “Taste of Italy” (for example), and the chef of the show is certainly Tiana, who wanted her own restaurant in the cartoon. I wonder if this will be when the “resistance” side of Sabine shines through.

ParticipantI’m thinking he’s probably Flynn too, but could he possibly be Roni/Regina’s new love interest? What he’s both baby Snowflake grown up AND Regina’s new love interest? ?
Nathan is only 29 whereas Lana is 40, an eleven year age difference. Therefore, I really don’t think Nathan will play Roni’s love interest. Yes, it is a huge double standard (seeing that EdR is 21 years younger than Bobby), but that is sadly how it usually goes on TV. The exception might be Andrew West (aka Henry Mills) and Dania Ramirez (Jacinda/Ella), but they only have an age difference of about five years, which seems more “acceptable” according to Hollywood’s double standards.

ParticipantI already posted my half-baked theory in the 7×5 press release thread:
I strongly suspect that Eloise Gardner is the witch whom Victoria (aka Rapunzel) has locked up in her tower. As far as I can tell, she is the only missing person in the story so far…I think it is going to be the old bait-and-switch kind of reveal in which Victoria Belfry turns out to be Rapunzel, who is really a villain, while Gothel is the misunderstood anti-hero. It is a well-worn trope now on OUAT like when Peter Pan was really the villain and Hook was the anti-hero or in which King Arthur was actually a power-crazed schmuck.
