ParticipantHere are some more images from 2×1 to thumb through. Looks like the troops are rallying together, perhaps to confront the Evil Queen Regina.

Participant@sjm: I’d like to retract my earlier claim, which I made half-way through S1: “Emma and the Huntsman will meet again one day in FTL.”

At first, I was totally convinced that Dr. Whale had to be a villain for several reasons like the one one you mentioned, him calling Regina when David started to rouse from a comma, when he had a one-night stand with MM, or when he stared at Ruby lecherously. Yet, others have pointed out the curse makes people do what they wouldn’t ever do in FTL. The best example of this is David Nolan, who was the opposite of what a Prince Charming would be.
So far, Dr. Whale has behaved more or less like what you’d expect a villain to behave like in SB, but that may because he’s acting the opposite of his true hero identity in FTL. The curse could’ve made a protagonist act like a major creep. If that’s the case, we could theorize about his revelation moment. Perhaps, after spending 28 years cursed as a lecher, he turns out to actually be noble and his epiphany moment when the curse is lifted is actually a good thing. It’s just a theory anyway, and I could be way off the mark.

ParticipantI actually think that the person who said the first two episodes might have been filmed out of order might be right. In the picture it seems like Red and Granny might be wearing what they were wearing when they got their memories back whereas in the pictures from last week they were wearing different clothes and it seems like Emma and Snow are missing.
You’re right. The order in which episodes 2×1 and 2×2 were filmed was reversed!

ParticipantI agree that Monstro seems way too obvious. I maintain that Whale is connected to Ruby since they are shown several times together in SB and it would follow they are also connected in FTL. Perhaps Dr. Whale is the wizard who gave Granny the enchanted hood for Red in 1×15. It makes sense he’d be a doctor in SB since good wizards could heal people in FTL. Since we know we’re going to meet Lancelot in S2, we may also meet Merlin, who could be Dr. Whale.

ParticipantAnother reason i think it would be a little odd for them to do sleeping beauty in the first episode is because they pretty much did the story in real world in the finale. I mean Emma went and fought a dragon and killed it with a sword through the chest and then went and kissed Henry. I mean Emma pretty much did the prince’s journey from Sleeping Beauty in the last season.
Perhaps the finale was meant to be a foreshadowing of what’s to come in SB in 2×1. It would be setting up season two with everyone awakening to the realization of their true identities. Also, the Sleeping Beauty story could vary from the original fairy tale to an extent that the parallel isn’t too great (like Cinderella or Red’s story in S1).

Participant@Phee: I share your assessment; the names Baelfire and Beaman just sound so similar to my ears when said aloud. There is probably some connection. Either Beaman could be related to Baelfire or Beaman is Baelfire but with a different alias.

ParticipantI have a feeling that Emma’s reunion with her dad will be one of shock, which will soon become one of friendly acceptance, followed by them building a true father-daughter love through shared experiences. They’ll have to ally together to fight Regina for the sake of custody over Henry as well as fighting off her evil magic, followed by them possibly finding a way to restore order. Now that Prince Charming is back to himself, he is going to fight to make it up to Emma for missing her first 28 years of life. It’ll be hard at first, but over time, they’ll share a great bond. They are so alike. They both have amazing skills with a sword, are adventurous, brave, and are great at finding people.
