Isn’t there a fairy tale along those same lines? Where they put all the princes (or princesses) in masks at a ball and invited the whole land and only the person who was meant to marry the heir actually found them because it was true love, ect. Am I hallucinating this fairy tale?
Isn’t one of the scenes in Jim Henson’s Labyrinth? when Sara finds Jareth in masks at a ball?
Even more, it is the way in which Romeo and Juliet met, without know who they are… and mainly a clichΓ© in that sort of “true tragic love” stories, i’m sure there are more.
So no, you are not hallucinating πLabyrinth’s story is very different, but the look of the set and the costumes was DEFINATELY Labyrinth inspired. It was the first thing that crossed my mind whenI saw the scene.
The notorious Labyrinth ballroom scene:

Hmmm, 5th in line for the throne… Does that mean George is Henry’s older brother. And Cora cursed his wife to be one step closer to the throne…Nothing to do with spite, just it would be more convient.
There is a good chance that she believes she loved Rumpel once, evn though she just loved his power… I mean the woman believes she’s not wicked! *cough cough*
I don’t think Cora will die. Her story has so much more in it, they can’t kill her yet. So much history to be told. If they kill her now that would be lost. Sorry, I don’t like it, but I’m afraid she will live, simply because she is too elementary to the plot. Which means somebody else dies… one of their own like they said… that would not be Cora anyways
spinninggoldParticipantAdam & Eddie said “Soul Mate” guys, not true love, and I think they have a point though Cora would be soul mate to the Dark One and not Rumpel… Heck if Cora could ever meet peasant Rumpel, she’d crush him like… a snail. Soul mate and Twue Wuve are not the same.
*Goes dr Phil on you for a second* See True Love is true love, and Corrumpel clearly did not achieve that, because Rumpel is stil as corrupted as can be.
The way someone one dr Phil actually explained it was that there were two types of Soul Mates. The one where you lift each other up and bring eachother to great heights (Rumbelle) and the one where you destroy eachother and take eachother down in a downward spiral (Corrumpel)
I mean look at it, they are just as bad as eachother in their quest for power/magic, Cora might even be worse, although we do not know how much of this is actually down to what Rumpel feeds her in the beginning. But Rumpel’s dark side and Cora are definately kindred spirits that find eachother in this.
Let’s not analyse Adam and Eddie’s words to death. Soon we will make them afraid to say anything because someone may overinterprate it… And they will stop giving us spoilers all together π―
… or they are doing it to get arise outta us… and they are laughing their butts off right now.Rumpel is SEXY! WOOT! WOOT!
spinninggoldParticipantTo be honest I think Once upon a time in the Midlands isn’t that good, which I find a real shame because besides Robert, I’m a real Shirley Henderson fan, ever since watching Charles II, The Power and The Passion. (Rufus Sewell, add him to my most enjoyable bad guys list…Those green eyes, wow) Problem in OUATITM is that the characters just don’t have chemistry. The only bit of chemistry is between Shirley and Robert, but the script actually kills that. There isn’t a real story, there is no real comedy, just a lot of swearing. And to top it off there is no sypathy for the characters in the movie, which you find in a movie like Brassed off with Ewan Mc Gregor. In OUATITM they are all just not that likeable, so you don’t feel for them. And just as you do feel for Robert, who is really the only likeable figure, they kill that off by making him behave like an utter jerk.
SPOILER:
I mean even though he made his mistakes, you want him to end up with Shirley, because he loves her and she him, whereas Rhys Ifans is clearly just a placeholder, someone that's safe (and a wet blanket). And still she ends up with Rhys, rather then true love? Not to mention Robert all of a sudden start acting like an arrogant prick and Shirley says nothing. Which is so not like the roles she usually does, and which I love her for. She can be fierce, so small but so powerful, and that I love. Was a real dud for me. Same goes for Rhys Ifans, he does a GREAT manical delusional psycho. Potential for the actors to do what they are actually good at was zero.
The only saving grace of the movie is that MrCarlyle looks most delectable. I mean, he’s really gorgeous looking in it. So, turn off the sound and enjoy the viewspinninggoldParticipantJessie, I was talking about this one My favourite
spinninggoldParticipantThe Mighty Celt, and thank you π
spinninggoldParticipantWell if Rumpel has her heart as insurance, her having his dagger would not be that big a problem, would it? Just crush it and voila, problem solved… So I don’t think so… Or if he has it, he doesn’t know it.

I’m still watching this darn clip. I’m on my 25th viewing you guys. I need help. π
How do you do that? I felt like my heart was being ripped out and chopped into sushi, just watching it ONE time. I NEED the rest of the episode for context, so maybe my heart can heal. That clip is TORTURE I tell ya!
I mean I know that he'll live because he's in Lacey, but still…
And am I the only one concerned that to stay alive, the Dark One needs to come back full force. The way Robert said “We’ll see a few twist and turns” at Paleyfest sounded so omnious, like he will go full blown evil….But I think Henry will save his grandad…. at least I sure do hope so… Gotta admit Robert did not make it sound that way.
