Right to determine one’s own fate? Not to put too fine a point on that but that is something that cannot be intrinsically taken away, it can only be abnegated by the individual themselves.  Re-asserting control of her fate seems a more plausible notion given the manipulations and fears she has been subjected to over the course of the series.  Rumple did say that whether she turned out like her mother was up to her. Rumple so manipulated her that she began denying true self in favor of what he was feeding her in terms of negative emotions. Recall that Rumple planted the notion in her head that all she had was anger when she was fearful and lonely.  Her self-sacrifice at the end of the second season was a self-less act of love and an assertion of responsibility intended to save Henry’s life and end her misery.

In my opinion the girl we saw in Stable Boy was a woman on the verge of greatness and if her love had bloomed who knows what she would be capable of remember that she has never really been allowed to be herself as she has wished. She has always been what others or the circumstances have dictated namely an obedient daughter, a dark apprentice (pawn) and an Evil Queen. She has not truly been allowed to be herself as it were.

P.S. will be absent for this week’s forums graduate research papers wait for no man. Best to everyone.  And with a flick and a flourish of my hands and a big puff of crimson smoke I’m away my dearies.

That creates a bit of a problem when the whole premise of the show is predicated on the notion that there is hope. How does one move beyond hope? Regina was serene and ready to let go in the season 2 finale hence why survive, why introduce love in the form of Robin, why have her pathos be so wonderfully paralleled in Emma?  It is a show about fairy tales with everyone shooting for their own happy ending. And Regina hasn’t exactly had a cheering section she puts any faith in outside of Henry because he is uniquely positioned because of who he is.

The fact that Snow was miffed at David for not coming clean about the poison. That I think should be a big takeaway, that their marriage ain’t all bliss. Up till  now we haven’t seen too many of David’s David Nolan’s qualities.

I don’t know what secret Regina would’ve revealed esp. since Emma is the only one of that lot she has any genuine respect for.

Quite honestly to rescue Neal Emma needed the secrets of the three who went with her. She needed to know Daddy is a liar (however noble he thinks that is), that Mommy loves her but not the way she wants to and that Hook well, he much more of a Han Solo type than he’s been given credit for.

It was curious that Rumple didn’t play his game of one-upmanship claiming  he was the more powerful one, as is his habit. Regina in Neverland has been frustrated but at the same time it doesn’t seem to be getting the better of her. I think that she just recognized that Rumple is not firing on cylinders and knows his default position is the reptilian brain (fight or flight).  That bit about dying at her hands could indicate she knows more than she is letting on or just means that “if there is anyone who is gonna kill you its gonna be me” (esp. after a lifetime of manipulative abuse).

    Favorite:

The revelation of the shadow (curious how Regina could see through the deception, how’d she do that, and could it be a gift or as Emma would say a superpower. Funny how Emma can spot the lies a person tells,  it’d be something else if Regina can spot the truth in appearances)

The bit when Regina nabs Ariel’s voice and does that brief monologue about not having the voice to speak to your prince. (a very telling regret with Rob being introduced as a soul mate)

Emma’s was the most interesting: I love you, but I wish you were (still) dead because it’s too hard to deal with all of this. Complex and interesting emotions.

Another parallel to Regina emerges, Regina’s life would be so much easier if Tink had listened to Blue and minded her own beeswax. Dollars to pesos Regina’s love life is going to take on greater importance to the plotline with parallels like that and hints like what she told Ariel about never being able to speak to your love after she nabbed her voice.  But I digress…

    My two cents:

Pan wanted them to reveal these their secrets to one another so that it will create potential fractures in the group.

-Hook v. Neal vying for Emma’s affections.

-Snow P.Oed at David for spoiling any chance her hope of expanding the family (or for that matter keeping it together if everyone save David could get home)

Looks more like he’s picking dirt from off the path and the expression is one that says “I don’t wanna get caught”  Makes me think he’s being a Sneaky Henry to coin a phrase.

My money is on a sleeper agent of Pan’s among the good townsfolk of Storybrooke but as always we’ll see what we’ll see.

And what do you suppose Henry is up to with that bag at time frame 0:09 on the promo?
