Well, if you want to talk apples I think the focus should not be on the fruit but on that tree of hers.
    1. Curious is it not that the tree wilts and withers until she cracks open her mummy’s spell book.
    2. Consider that Emma promised to come back for the rest of the tree.
    3. Interesting that the only person to have a bite from one of the apples is Rumple in the Pilot.
    4. The apple tree can also be seen in Regina’s necklace pre-2×05, the Storybrooke coat-of-arms and this next one needs close observation the picture of an apple tree in MM’s apartment (which can be seen when Henry descends the stairs in 2×17 “Welcome to Storybrooke”.
If we a take a mythological look at the symbolism of trees, the most common assoc. would be the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden, the Bodhi tree of wisdom under which the Buddha sits.

Here’s an observation that I’ll bet no one’s made so far. Re-watch the beginning of “Quite a Common Fairy” after the title card has passed and the scene shifts to Rumple’s castle in the EF watch carefully a blue-winged butterfly will pass in front of the screen travelling left to right. This same butterfly can be seen in promos for the series see following YT clips:  http://youtu.be/Rga4rp4j5TY and http://youtu.be/lVs3z2lGxwY

    Enjoy dearies!

Great discussion, I think there’s something to the “right time” thesis. If we play devil’s advocate here then if Regina hadn’t been turned to the Darkness she wouldn’t have imprisoned the Genie, who suggested the Huntsmen, who let Snow go allowing her to find her best friend Red and her TL David.  Furthermore even if Tink’s scheme had succeeded I doubt that Rumple would have let Regina off the hook since he needed her for his curse (why her specifically I hope we’ll find out down the line).

With regards to adultery King Leopold is obviously a good and kind man but far too trusting (like Snow) recall that he invaded Regina’s diary, and openly acknowledged that he knew her to be unhappy and yet he was apparently unwilling to let her go, he did after all imprison her in her chambers. Without excusing Regina’s actions we can conclude that Leopold’s neglect of Regina, his mourning of Eva, and indulgence of Snow make him a less than ideal husband.
