ParticipantSince the second half of the season is driven by Regina and Zelena’s conflict, I think that the objects suspended in the twister are much more representative of them rather than anyone else. Consider the fact that Regina is the one who has been in close contact with unicorns (the one Rumple took the heart from, the one going across the title card in Thing You Love Most, Maleficnent’s pony, numerous instances of Regina and the mobile in Gold’s shop, and the unicorn tapestry in reflected in the mirror and backing Regina in Skin Deep) might be worth considering that when Rumple mentioned the slippers and made a passing reference to the Witch to Jefferson in The Doctor, Regina had a noticeable reaction. As the great sleuth of Baker St. once proclaimed “something’s afoot.”

ParticipantCurious though that 3×19 is likely an Aurora’s story so close to 3×18 which is heavy on Regina’s family and the Witch potentially. Makes me wonder if that scene where Regina prepares the sleeping curse to put David under and that it is administered by the spindle of Rumple’s wheel is foreshadowing a connection. Given all we know is that Aurora’s sleeping curse was done as an act of sacrifice. And if 3×19 is Oz heavy as speculated might the Witch and Aurora have some history together?

ParticipantLooking closely in the background one can make out that John is being followed by four others. The first two figures from right to left are almost certainly Robin and Tuck. The 3rd figure apparently is carrying a weapon slung over his right shoulder and is wearing what seems to be a watch cap. The 4th figure is obscured by the third but in this image his leg extended behind the 3rd individual. Unnamed Merry Men or a couple of familiar faces perhaps?

ParticipantOne big catch is the Witch’s threat to “take everything away” from Regina is what does Regina have left after arriving in EF? Nothing really if we think about it, the Man with the Lion Tattoo might as well be a sweet dream since she considers him lost, Henry’s gone (fingers crossed not for long). So, I think that’s why Regina taunts her to “bring it” since she thinks she has nothing to lose. The subsequent episodes I think will reveal what she truly has which I suspect the Witch is aware of and Regina is not.

ParticipantMaybe a key ingredient for the new curse that brings everyone back to SB and is designed to take away Regina’s potential happiness?

ParticipantBout time we got some footage to whet our appetite.
A few observations:
1.) Looks as though the Monkey takes Little John for a ride and that it ends with him on a hospital gurney.
2.) Regina touches some kind of force field or is generating some powerful magic.
3.) David at the mercy of the witch.
4.) Monkey putting a drop of blood (Regina’s?) in the phial

ParticipantFate has been cruel to almost ALL of the characters, yet few reach her level of evil acts. I’m not sure what you are trying to say that “life need not have conspired against her!” Not true there’d be no story in that! I guess you’re concentrating on the set of choices she gets, and I’m looking at what she actually picked, because I note her set of choices wasn’t so limited as to be no choice at all.
Last word from me:
Fate is cruel to the characters yes, but in Regina’s case Rumple had her manipulated to be so evil that she would be able to accomplish the curse to satisfy his desire and knowing the weaknesses of her character he naturally preyed on those. And since Regina’s faith and trust in others had been broken after the events of Stable Boy and the Doctor its only natural that she made the choices she did and would see them largely as Hobson choices. Now if there was another child born to Cora who was supposed to cast the curse but was hidden from Rumple’s knowledge and Rumple knew only of Regina then as I’ve stated previously he would only be seeing what could be and not what was to be. Most of the stories in Greek mythology have fate conspiring against all the characters hero and villain alike its complex but yet the pathos draws us in as does Regina’s pathos precisely because her fate has turned out as it has and not as it may have turned out otherwise.

ParticipantRumple tempted Regina, but she did have free will and choice. She did have Tinkerbell offering her support, plus others who wanted to offer her help but she chose differently. .
I should stress that this is not part of my argument, what I’m arguing for is life conspiring against her when it need not have and her own weaknesses exacerbate her situation. The tragedy of her circumstances is not solely that she is a victim poor decisions but those decisions are born of cruel fate since life is nothing but the sum of responses to that which we call fate.

ParticipantRegina cast the curse and everything before that was because Rumple set a series of events into motion when by rights if my supposition is correct, another scenario would have occurred. I cite his conversation with Henry and with the Seer in Manhattan, what can be and what will be. As to looking for other paths (slippers, beans etc.) the possibility exists that he doubted Regina was the one to do it because of her kind and gentle nature and the fact that he had to push and prod her into that fate and did so because of his overriding motivation to reach Bae. Insofar as Cora neglecting to mention another child, its plausible that she would say to herself “Why would I give up a child of mine to this Imp?” and let’s not forget how cunning Cora can be prime case in point amending the contract so that he taught her to spin gold.
