I don’t think Emma’s lie detecting ability is actually a super power. I always thought that was just a joke to get Henry onside.
Given her past life, pre storybrooke, I think she would need to “read” people well. In certain lines of work, you get pretty good at reading people, picking up on non-verbal cues that give them away. In my job (criminal law), we call it our radar or antenna. I can’t tell if my client is lying to me, but I can get a reliable sense of when I need to ask more questions or something is off. I think that’s all Emma’s “superpower” is – not a magical ability to tell if someone is lying but just a skill from her past to read someone and tell when something is off.
And in that case…. Damn. She should have read through Greg. His non verbals were screaming “I saw magic but I’m not telling you in case you chuck me in the psych ward”

swanning-offParticipantYeah. That’s the weird thing. Assumptions we made earlier are proving not quite right…

I definitely am looking forward to seeing Ariel. With the squid ink (Ursala was drawn with only six tentacles which technically makes her a squid) I feel like we got even more foreshadowing that it will be coming.
http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/UrsulaWell there you go. I just learned something. I’d always thought Ursula was an octopus creature thing…..
I’d love them to do mermaids but to do them well. If they can’t get the effects right (and let’s be honest, some of the effects on OUAT have been a little underwhelming – though some have been great) then just leave it alone.
swanning-offParticipantYES!!! 😀
swanning-offParticipantThe photos/rumours of the giant going nuts at Charming does suggest that either Charming or his twin…. or his triplet (???) was Jack of giant killing fame.
And I *like* that idea of a storyline 🙂
swanning-offParticipantI’m all aboard the Nealfire train, but the idea of Neal = White Rabbit would explain the quick grasp of the “you will believe in magic” August box trick as much as Neal = Bae. It would also explain the nods to Alice in Wonderland around Neal’s apartment (although that could be misdirection…. I mean, these are the guys that created Lost)
If they go totally nuts, and we combine that with the theory that Bae visited a lot of other lands…. maybe he went to Never Never Land for a while (and is thus Peter Pan), grew up in Wonderland (as the White Rabbit), ran away from the Queen of Hearts (maybe after he scoffed some tarts? 😉 ) and went to Oz… where he met up with a Wizard* and came to our land….
Dunno. It could work. Could be some good storytelling. Could also be some massively OTT TV though.
* Even though it could have just been misdirection, I think there are WAY too many Oz references in The Doctor to not think about Oz being melded with Frankenstein. Exactly how they might play that I don’t know, but the references were just too blatant. It is either total misdirection, to mess with our heads before the final “this is magic Dr Frankenstein” reveal, or they are hints that in OUAT, Oz is Dr Frankenstein.
swanning-offParticipantthis is the big brain tease from season 2.
For Neal to believe so quickly, it suggests he is from FTL and August knew that – so showed him something that could only be known about by FTL natives. Easiest option? August figured out he was Baelfire (how, I have no idea) and showed him a picture of Rumplestiltskin’s dagger.
However, if Neal/Bae is a big fat red herring, then it must have been something so obviously magical that even a cynical street hoodlum from our world would go “magic is real. Woah!” And a big, fat, glowing, beating red heart would generally do that…. so how did August get one? I seem to remember reading some discussion about whether the way Regina looked at August when he was “fixing his bike” right outside her house when Henry was leaving for school…. maybe she caught a glimpse of him stealing one of her hearts???

Well, I’m pretty sure August will go to his go to gal- Blue Fairy, since he’s a man puppet 😉
Yep, that’s my guess as to where he’s gone. Where else would he go in a situation like this, but to the person who made him flesh and blood the last time he was a wooden puppet. Not convinced that Blue will automatically agree to do it though. I can see him having to earn his humanity back.
Maybe it’s just a bit simpler…. he went to BF but she can’t make him a ‘real boy’* again until she has a wand and fairy dust??
* whenever I think of August/Pinocchio, I always think of the “I’m a real boy!” parody in Shrek. In that exact, slightly annoying voice!

Another thought on this that popped into my head as I was about to fall asleep last night…how did Hook know that Milah had made Bae’s shawl? Was that just a throwaway line that we weren’t supposed to analyse? Too bad if it was, coz here I go. 😛 It looks very similar to Bae’s cloak, (so much so that when it’s been in spoiler pics, we’ve been referring to it as his cloak). If Hook had known the kid, who never took off his tattered old cloak, and had asked him why he always wore the old rag, and he’d said, “My mother made it,” that would explain why Hook knew that the similar shawl in SB had been made by Milah. How else could he have deduced that it was something she had personally made?
Love it but….
how did Rumple get the shawl when Bae/Neal/Peter Pan was wearing it in Never Never Land? (or do we assume that Rumple was such a broke medieval father than Bae actually had a couple of shawls….!!!)
As I said in my intro, I am totally on board the Neal is Bae theory and I think that the only way to explain his age, and why Neal was so readily convinced by August’s magic box, is that he’s also Peter Pan.
