Awesome. I am going to D23. I went to the last one, they showed Josh and Ginny’s set tour and at least part of an upcoming episode.
Ive been wondering if Disney is going to try to rival ComicCon. D23 is usually in April/ may. Comic con is in July. I think they want to steal some of comic Con’s thunder. I am hoping that the Marvel folks will be there. They had Star Wars stars there last time, including Harrison Ford.

sweetgrassParticipantI have not been around. I just checked chat today and saw that LisaS a poster here has passed away. I am so sad for her and her family.

sweetgrassParticipantCount me in the Evil group. To me, Rumple’s actions are completely consistent with the character he’s always been.
To me, rumple has always been a supremely selfish and weak man, long before the curse. I think the spinsters who took him in doted too much on him and taught him to be self pitying and focused on his feelings.
Abandoning your comrades in arms on a battlefield is still a capital offence in the US. There is good reason for that. Every man on the battlefield is afraid. Almost every man has a loved one they want to live for. Rumple was in no way unique among his comrades. Each man needs to know that his brother in arm will be there for him. Otherwise there is a complete breakdown in morale. Rumple was not a contentious objector; the men were fighting for the survival of their town/families. We saw that the fighting kept coming closer to his hovel. Rumple wanted the benefit of the protection that the army/his community offered without any of the obligations. That is not acceptable when others are dying. I would shun a coward like Rumple. I won’t be nasty about it, but I would not want have anything to do with him. A person shouldn’t get the benefits of being part of a town if he is not willing to do his part.
You can argue that the duke could have stopped the war, but that doesn’t excuse Rumple for abandoning his post. He was supremely selfish in that moment, but not quite evil yet.
You can feel sympathy for how Rumple was treated when he was being shunned. The truth is I felt sympathy for him, but like the kid who was bullied or abused as a child and becomes a stone cold killer — well the sob story doesn’t excuse his bad behaviour. Not every kid who was bullied or abused turns into a killer. However, I feel that his backstory helps the audience understand rumple.
rumple wanted the dagger and the power of the dark one. He wasn’t tricked into committing arson or even killing his predecessor. He intended those acts. The seer and his dark predecessor saw his weakness, saw his darkness. As noted by others, others, rumple killed the maid, killed the guards, killed the poor guy who he turned into a snail. It was implied that he killed others by Bae in the episode about the pied piper.
After abandoning Bae, he messed with people who had nothing to do with setting his curse in action, like Ingrid and her sisters. He could have stopped the ogres in Belles dukedom, but like the Duke his predecessor served, he wasn’t going to do it because it was the right thing to do. Getting Belle did not serve his find Bae mission. He killed Milah and maimed Hook and it had nothing to do with finding Bae. Milah and hook offered rumple a deal that would have given him a bean; he wanted vengeance more than a way to his son.
He set up many of the people so they had no choice but to go to him. I am pretty sure he is behind the drink that rendered King George’s infertile. He killed Cinderella’s fairy godmother. He made it so Regina would go dark. Rumple wants to corrupt others. He likes breaking down others so he can feel better about himself. That is what he is doing to Hook. He wants to drag Hook down to his level, so he can feel superior.
If rumple really wants to be free from the dark one’s curse, belle can give him the true love kiss. What Rumple really wants is to free any limitations so he can do whatever he wants without regard to anyone else’s safety or well being.
having said all that, i like Rumple as the magnificent bad guy that he is. It keeps the story interesting.

October 6, 2014 at 2:03 am in reply to: 4 x 02 WHITE OUT — FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #284449sweetgrassParticipantI liked this episode alot. I really like the Frozen characters. I think that they breathe new life into all the other characters. I really liked the Charming Anna backstory. I not entirely sure it fits previous cannon, but it was great to see David become a hero. I like that they are fleshing him out. Josh does a great job as Charming. His father’s alcoholism might further explain why he doesn’t like Hook. I love the way Josh Dallas sword fights. There is a lot of energy and beauty in his movement.
Last week I didn’t like the Captain Swan scenes. This week I liked them. I liked that Hook stated that what they become is up to him and Emma. He really seemed desperate when Emma was dying. I liked how he was trying to dig her out even thought it was impossible. To me that is human. Hook is not afraid of the impossible fight. I just hope he gets to win some of those fights. I liked how they held hands together. I liked how Emma hugged him. The only thing I would change is that I would have had Hook put his coat on her.
I like Grumpy in all his scenes. I like that they went to Snow and let her know she needed to lead. It was her curse.
I liked Bo-Peep. She had a Ma Barker vibe. It was cool. I like that she was a butcher who sold lamb chops.
Everyone including from Jared to Frozen actors did a great job.

sweetgrassParticipantAs soon as Robin mentioned a dark past, my brain flashed to Dracula. I know it’s totally crack headcannon, but I want Robin to have been as bad as Regina, so I can accept their relationship. It also may explain why he is ok with Rumple torturing him and with Regina trying to kill Marion in the past, and why he so rigid about having a code. Without the code he is afraid he will turn back into a monster.

sweetgrassParticipantI think Rumple invented the heart ripping. My head cannon: After he met Killian and challenged him to a duel now that he (Rumple) was invincible, he spent the next few hours thinking about he was going to make Killian pay for humiliating him (Rumple) when Killian challenged him to duel on his ship (that was the duel part) but also to make him suffer for his warped mind stealing his wife. I bet Rumple wanted Killian to beg for his life, like Rumple grovelled. But he wanted Killian to feel his pain and says as much. Rumple asks Killian if he knows what it’s like to have someone steal your wife… It feels like someone has torn out your heart. To me that is where the idea came from. Had Milah not shown up, it would have been Killian’s heart to be crumpled.
