Here’s another twitter string about JenMo at Oz. WARNING!! It is very pro-CS.

sweetgrassParticipantMy crack ships are:
1) Rumple and Regina – They have chemistry and they respect each other. It would be a complex relationship and it would be interesting. I think Dark Heart is Rumple’s best cannon pairing in that they both almost equals but Cora is very cruel, so I think Regina is better match than Cora.
2) Hook and Tinkerbelle. I think Hook pretty much has chemistry with most of the women on the show. (Heck, I could have seen a Friends with Benefits relationship between Hook and Regina early one). I like this pairing (Tinker Hook) because I love both Tink and Hook individually and together. Tink is the type that would call out Hook on any of his ish but she is a little bit of a rebel. they fit well together. However, the fact that fairies are not allowed to have romances puts a kibosh on this crack relationship.
3) Neal and Mulan. I never thought that these two were a match but I liked them together in the beginning of Season 3. Mulan has a strength that Neal had lost. She is strong, honorable and brave and might help Neal rediscover all that in himself like when he was younger. I think that she could bring the rigor he needs and that he got bring in some fun into her life. I also find it interesting and hysterical imagining Rumple dealing with Mulan as his daughter in law. She will take not let Rumple get a way with anything.
4) Belle and Grumpy. If Nova is out of the picture, I can see Belle and Grumpy together. Both dream of adventure and visiting other realms. I also think that they have a mutually respectful friendship and I think that is key for a healthy relationship.

sweetgrassParticipantSara_TN – I read on another board that he is doing recording work with his new band Chyld.

sweetgrassParticipantI am one of those fans that MP is referring to. I felt a disconnect between young Bae and Neal. It was too big a leap for me to make. A big part of it was that Neal did not feel like he came from EF at all. There was nothing about him that said fairytale to me. It’s not just that he was too modern, but his vibe was too real world gritty and took me out of the moment. August was modern to, but there was enough of an aura of mystery around him that he could fit into the EF world.
I don’t know if I wrote this here or on another board, but I would have loved Neal to be part of the anti-magic organization (not a sham Pan organization but a true anti magic org). He along with Tamara and Greg should have been true believers believing that magic was corrupting influence. Bae said as much with Wendy. He and Tamara should have been sent to StoryBrooke to take out the magical beings. Neal could have been conflicted after learning that Emma was magical. This would set up drama and tension with multiple characters. I would have loved to see Rumple struggle with Neal becoming an anti-magic fanatic but willing to sacrifice his life. I don’t see Emma and Neal coming together because his abandonment was too great a blow to the trust necessary for any relationship to really blossom. I think Neal could have stayed as his own interesting character and not been a part of romantic triangle.
In terms of questions:
1) Did Neal have other options? I think so. He could have turned himself in, instead of Emma. Thus separating them. He could have left her a note telling her he had to leave because some old associates were after him, so that Emma wouldn’t have been so betrayed by his abandoning her. Personally, if I were him, I would have stayed and told August that I would be at Emma’s side helping handle whatever was to come.
2) Did Neal try to find Emma? I think it is pretty clear he didn’t. He even hooked up with Tamara after the curse broke. Neal told Emma that he needed Tamara. I don’t see Neal being that into Emma until Tamara shot him. Before that, he seemed he had moved on.
3) Hell yes! Neal was right to ask Rumple to give up magic. Rumple misused magic. It corrupted him and hurt so many people.
4) People forgive and sometimes it more about them than the offending party. If a person wants to forgive someone for the wrongs against or unconditionally love that person, I am fine with that SO LONG as they don’t expect their love to excuse everything the offending party has done. By that I mean, Neal can forgive Rumple for what Rumple did to him and can chose to love Rumple despite all of Rumple’s misdeeds, but he cannot excuse Rumple for what he did to others. Rumple needs to be accountable to his victims.
5) Fatal flaw. Not his fault, but his flaw was his parents — both of them, especially Rumple. On a more instrinsic level, I think after learning both parents abandoned him, I think Bae (later Neal) was no longer able to really make good judgments on people. Hook did and would fight for him, but Neal couldn’t believe the truth in Hook’s words, just like he couldn’t believe Rumple in Neverland. His ability to trust and to discern had been too damaged. We see it again with Emma (leaving her when she was the only person who never left him), trusting Tamara and Pinocchio. I think this led him to act rashly in the end because he was afraid of losing out because of his past laspes of judgment so he doubled down.

sweetgrassParticipantTo me Regina is 100% responsible for her acts. She could have stopped. She could have made other choices. No one held a gun to her head.
Yes, Rumple manipulated her and purposely corrupted her. He is absolutely responsible for that since his goal was to make her evil. So I also hold him responsible for creating and unleashing a monster. To me, he showed depraved indifference to all her victims and that makes him guilty without taking away any of Regina’s responsibility for her acts.
I don’t excuse Regina because of Rumple’s manipulation, but I also don’t excuse Rumple because Regina had a choice. They both knew the consequences of their acts and got exactly what they wanted. Both are at fault. It’s a little weird because to me it’s not like they split blame — one being X% responsible and the other 100-X responsible. They are 100% responsible for their actions. It cumulative, not overlapping.

It is set up to be similar to Dora the Explorer, but it lacked the charm. I didn’t like it, but then I am hardly the intended audience.

sweetgrassParticipantEllemo78 – Sadly yes. He did get panned. I suspect it might have been the direction he was given. I think that sometimes critics think everyone needs to emote all the time, but in real life most people are not very emotional.

It seems that OUAT has been a good exposure for cast members.

sweetgrassParticipantThanks everyone for the response re: On the Waterfront. I will probably watch it at some point. It sounds intriguing.
I hope it is good role for Colin. He got panned in The Rite. I never saw the movie so I don’t know if it was any good. I hope this new movie is good for his career.

sweetgrassParticipantI loved Nigel-Murray and was shocked that he died. It was very moving.
Word on :
Bae and Hook. That relationship never got fleshed out properly apart from that small reconciliation before Neal died. Bae obviously meant a lot of Hook, but we never saw it reciprocated. So when Neal said “I haven’t forgotten” was he referring to when Hook gave him over to Pan? Or was he remembering Hook looking after him before he demanded to be let off the ship.
I so wish that the Hook-Bae-Rumple triangle was the one the writers explored, because there is natural tension and drama and is not a clichéd love triangle. Oh, what might have been.
I also agree with POM with respect to:
It occurred to me earlier that SwanFire was never the main part of Bae’s story. It was just a way to tie all the characters together i.e. Emma and Snowing were connected so why not have Emma’s son be adopted by Regina and have his dad be the son of Rumple.
Bae’s story was always about Rumple, not Emma. His flashbacks were focussed around the Rumple/Bae story not the Emma/Neal story. EMMA’S flashbacks were the SwanFire story. If it was decided between seasons to kill off Neal (whether it be between 2&3 or 3A&3B) then having Bae forgive Rumple and the two reunite would be the big crescendo.
It is so sad that we didn’t see more interaction between Neal and Rumple in StoryBrooke prior to going to Neverland. It was oddly anti-climatic. Here was the person that Rumple had spent 300 years trying to find and then nothing. It’s odd.
Can someone explain the glove reference to Waterfront? I am unfamiliar with the movie so I don’t understand it’s revalance.
On the rabid Neal fans (which is not to say all Neal fans are rabid), I worry for them a little bit. The grief and righteous anger seems so misplaced to me. I wanted to give them some space and time to deal with their disappointment, but now I feel it has only caused the most rabid ones to wallow in their bitterness. It is almost like allowing their righteous anger to go unchallenged has only fueled the anger not squelched it. it’s a shame because I actually liked their analysis on this show until it became too skewed by an anti-Hook bias that it no longer feels like we are watching the same show. I worry because it doesn’t seem healthy to spew so much negativity on a fictional show.
On another board I frequent there was SF shipper, I didn’t always agree with her, but I was glad she posted because good to hear another perspective. Anyways, after Neal die, there was a twitter photo of the cast laughing while filming the funeral and she was angry that anyone would laugh or enjoy their job because Neal had died. She felt it was disrespectful to Neal and his fans. Another poster set her straight — No one really died. Neal is a fictional character and expecting the other actors to mourn a fictional character in real life was not reasonable expectation. A lot of poster upvoted the response. The SF shipper still posted and still expressed her dislike for the show’s direction, but did so in a way that was no longer self-righteous. Occasionally, there was a very slight favor of sour grapes in her posts, but most of the time the posts were analytical.
