I AM not sure I like the idea of BELLE having the dagger… I am of the opinion that spouses/ lovers should support each other equally and one should not rule the other… side by side not MASTER / SLAVE … WARDEN / PRISONER … PARENT / WAY WARD CHILD….
( Do not want to be overly religious) AS for REGINA having white magic… is that not the basis of most religions ( Western) seeking redemption and forgiveness for past sins? Doing wrong but then trying to do better and make up for past mistakes ….
I agree about the dagger. I don’t think Belle should get it, not just for the reason above, but also because Belle does not see Rumple clearly. She refuses to see his bad acts and tendencies. Even Neal called her out when she tried to make it seem that Rumple acted to save the town, when he only died to save Neal and Belle. Take them out the equation and he wouldn’t care. I say give it to Snow.
As for redemption, yes, people should be able to redeem themselves, but that does not mean they don’t have to atone for past mistakes or have to face the consequences of what they have done. Atonement is a big part of the Christian religion. Hence you have confession and penance. Redemption/Forgiveness is not a get of jail pass to let you do what ever you want with no consequence.

sweetgrassParticipantYeah you don’t want to watch it unless you want to be thoroughly spoiled. I saw it and have very mixed feelings about it.

sweetgrassParticipantWhat little kid wouldn’t love playing with Captain Hook’s hook?
That kid is cute.

sweetgrassParticipantHey everyone,
I am a Nielsen family for sweeps week. I’ll definitely be watching OUAT, which I always would anyway, but it’s nice to know I will be helping with the ratings.
I really hope that the Zelena doesn’t kidnap Henry from Hook. I am tired of Hook being the whipping boy. Let him have some wins. I hope it is on someone else’s watch. I also want Hook to tell Emma the truth. He needs to let her know what is going on.

sweetgrassParticipantThe first sneak peak took me by surprise I didn’t see that. I know this won’t happen, but it would have been nice to see Rumple and Hook talk. I don’t expect or want them to be besties. Rumple’s act toward Hook are really unforgiveable but it would be nice to see the men acknowledge their common interest (defeating Zelena, perhaps even grief over Bae). It would be great to see their relationship take on some depth, because it would be unique in the show. With Snow and Regina, there is love between the two and a desire to be a family that got warped. With Hook and Rumple that wouldn’t be there but seeing establish a working relationship would be interesting and different.
Edited: Hook’sGirl — We crossed posted. It’s funny because it looks like we had the same thought.

sweetgrassParticipantI’m curious to that little moment between Hook and Emma coming out of Regina’s house. Was it just me thinking he was about to take her arm to help guide her down the stairs and she gave him a look of ‘what are you doing’? Also on the hook thing, my only thought is that if they give Killian back his hand, then he is no longer Cpt Hook and I think that takes too much away from him as a fairy tale character. Having said that, if he truly becomes something more than a pirate the hook is going to get awkward. But I do like the idea of him keeping it and getting out when he needs to rely on his piratey skills. Or perhaps it will serve as a reminder of the man he no longer wants to be, much in the same way as Rumple and his cane.
for or me I think he should keep his hook. It is an integral part of who he is and his fairy tale identity. on another forum this came up and there was a poster who works with disabled people. she argued that like her clients Hook is a whole person even though he doesn’t have a hand. It doesn’t make him less of a person. Nor should he feel that he needs his hand to have a happy ending. This poster also liked that Hook and the show didn’t make a big deal about Hook being disabled and that Hook makes most things seem naturally. The example she used was when he poured himself and Emma a drink to toast Bae. He set down each glass and then poured the drink. It was done without any self-consciousness or attention. after hearing her out, I agreed with her and I think it is a nice to have a disabled main character who’s story doesn’t revolve around his disability.

April 20, 2014 at 3:29 pm in reply to: The Double Edged Sword of Being Invested in Headcanons #262667sweetgrassParticipantFor me, I noticed that if I go in watching an episode without any expectation, I enjoy it more.
As for episodes where my headcannon clashed with the episode, that would have been Good Form. Suddenly Hook has a brother that we have never heard about, and young Lt. Jones was purer than the new fallen snow. It didn’t jive with who he is now. It was too great of a jump to make. I felt like Hook’s background was created not to explain how Hook became the man he was, but because: 1) The Powers That Be (TPTB) wanted to have Hook to have the inverse relationship that David has with his twin and 2) TPTB wanted to give Rumple that big Pan reveal, so they needed Rumple to be the only who was abandoned by his father, instead of watching his father die as the originally planned.
I tend to more disappointed at the end of a mid season arc, because when I look back I think there are missed opportunities to really explore the relationships and characters. Take the Neverland arc — I was expecting to see substabtive Captain Fire flashbacks and present day. I wanted to see Tink, Hook and Pan all really interact with each other. I think they could have delved more into the Emma and her parents relationship. Sometimes I think the show is hurt by having centrics where the present and the past have to be about the same character (especially when the flashbacks seemed so hamfisted in a lot Season 2 and 3A), so it chops the flow of other storylines and character growth of other characters not being featured. I think they need to less rigid about the first being everyone, second Regina, third Snowing, etc. Don’t let the centrics glide how the plot/character growth flows.

sweetgrassParticipantBut the jolly isn’t the thing Hook loves most. That would be Emma. They would have to play fast and loose with the curse requirements To make it Hook.
