The Swan Princess
ParticipantWow it was so hard to choose between Manhattan and Going Home! But Going Home had more emotional impact so I chose it.
Personally though I ‘m still bitter that Red Handed and Fruit of a Poisonous Tree were eliminated, they are the best episodes of the series!

ParticipantHey people! It has been a while since I last posted!
Wow so that was a strong last season vibe
Favorites:
1) OMG someone finally thought about the peasents!!! It’s about time.
2) I loved the flashback, even though it was a little bit retcon-y (LOL at Snow and Charming telling Emma there is some secret they just now remembered to tell her for the 1000th time…) it was sweet and it didn’t interfere with what happened in season one so it’s fine with me. And it gave me so many season one feels! Especially Snow’s face when she told Charming they need to drink the potion, she had exactly the same facial expression she had in the pilot when she told Charming to take Emma to the wardrobe because Emma will save them.
Mixed:
1) I keep wondering about the final battle thing, is it A&E’s plan from the beginning or something influenced by the audience? I want to believe it is and that they have a vision about how to finish everything and tie all the loose ends but I’m worried they just wanted to finally give us the Black Fairy after people were asking about her for 2 years and that the final battle will be a disappoint…
2) Tiger Lily… They did her right personality wise. They didn’t mention anything about the rest of her tribe which I guess is the best thing they could have done about that issue, just avoid the problem, but the fairy backstory was really stupid.
Least Favorites:
1) Oh hello there magical flower that no one has heard about before.
2) It feels like Emma hasn’t done anything important in a while.

The Swan Princess
ParticipantHi people! I know I didn’t comment here for a while but I was lurking all this time… Anyway I just had to comment because I have a lot to say about this Jekyll and Hyde thing.
It was really good, I enjoyed it. It was a nice twist, one that everyone saw comming but not in a bad way, more in a ‘that’s what a show that gives classic fairytales new twists would do’ kind of way and they didn’t dissapoint which was nice. And the having Rumple there was fitting, I mean sometimes it feels like they’re just sticking Rumple into other stories because why not but here it felt natural. But, i did come out of this episode really confused.
Who is the good half and who is the bad one? Rumple said that the good half can still grow the darkness back and he said that refering to Jekyll, I think, but Hyde wasn’t bad at all until Mary’s death like sure he blackmailed someone but Jekyll killes someone and framed his other half for it so…
Interesting to note though that the good half can grow darkness bit probably hints about the Evil Queen, that she can learn to love.
But there was one thing that confused me the most. That was the guy from OUATIW. WHAT THE HELL??? I don’t understand! Just one episode ago they didn’t include Anna as one of Cinderella’s sisters! And yes I know that they never actually stated that as fact, but it was inferred! The point I’m trying to make is that A&E had the opportunity to include OUATIW and they deliberately chose not to. And I assumed it was because they were finished with it and didn’t want to touch it anymore. But now this episode they’re suddenly including this guy from the asylum and setting the story in Fictional England? And they could easily not do that, they could set it in the Land Without Color. It would even be more fitting. And I know they remember it because just the previous episode they included Frankenstein!!! They made this choice to refer to OUATIW. And I have no idea what is the messege that they’re trying to convey, especially when you remember the Aladdin storyline and Jafar…

I’m really impressed about the show. This is the sixth episode of this half season and the level is still very high.
Favorites:
1) I really liked Gaston. I liked how they made him different than Disney’s Gaston. He wasn’t a dumb womanizer. He was nice and sweet and genuinely interested in Belle. Except for the small torture thing but in his mind he was doing the right thing and we never really learnt who was right about the nature of ogres, him or Belle.
2) Belle and Rumple and the moral discussion were amazing but everybody already elaborated on that.
3) Zelena getting the dead flower and smiling. I love Zelena and Hades villain love it’s so refreshing and interesting and cute.
4) People in the underworld can go to a better place but they can also drown in the river of lost souls and when an episode starts you can’t really know which one will happen in that episode. It really raises the stakes.
4) Regina’s hair this episode was AMAZING. In the scene with Zelena at the diner there were these close ups on Regina and honestly I got distracted because she looked so good. She’s like a walking hair product commercial.
5) We got a little peek at the beginning of the second ogre war and we were left with a lot of interesting questions. What caused the war? Were it humans who hurt the ogres? Or did the ogres just invade the land? I hope we will get an answer one day.
Mixed:
I’m always happy to see Ruby. She’s my favorite character in the show. But seeing her means that it’s time of the One Gay Ep. The one episode with gay people. Because who needs actually having LGBT character that are a core part of the show when you can just have two girls kiss in one episode and then never talk about it again.

What the hell is Hades’s motivation? I’m so confused.

ParticipantThis discussion reminds me of a play I learned in French class. It’s called Rhinoceros. It’s basically about how human society has to have a system of morals. Humans can think and know right from wrong, unlike animals that act on instincts and everything they do is for their own survival. So when a person rejects the morals and only thinks about their own survival than they stop being human and become… Well… A beast.
The extended use of the word beast in this episode really made me think about this play. Of course it’s the Beauty and the Beast story so they have to bring the word a couple of times, but the way it was used caused me to wonder if the writers watched this play.

ParticipantWow this was an amazing episode!!! Probably the best since… Season 3 maybe. This truly brought me hope about the show. But of course there was this one big flaw that pissed me off. Yes it’s Megara, but I’ll get to that.
Favorites:
1) Snow actually admitting she wasn’t enough active in the past seasons and trying to change that!
2) Regina’s astonishing golden dress! And politically cunning Regina (which is my favorite Regina)!!!
3) Snow and Hercules were soo cute together! At some point I actually thought that I wouldn’t mind if she was with Hercules and never met Charming.
Also young Snow’s actress was amazing this episode. She obviously grew up a little bit and instead of trying to pass her as a ten year old again the writers used it and showed us the stage in Snow’s life that we never got to see (and a stage we hardly saw in Regina’s life).
4) An episode that is one character’s centric that in the end of it they get their happy ending and the main characters learn something about themselves? And there is a flashback plot that is interesting and fun and features that character and also one or more of the main characters and we learn something new about them? Is it really happening???
5) Henry! And Cruella! And the author being relevant again!! And it makes sense (sort of)! And Henry having a plot this half season and being shady!!!
Mixed:
People are talking about how it’s important to protect the peasants!!! And.. Yet.. Everything the heroes did this episode was still for themselves…
Least favorites:
1) Seriously show? Seriously? You do that the Meg’s character? And less than a week after women’s rights day?!? And yes, I know she used that dagger in the end and showed that she did have strength in her but… Just… No, ok? This is the character whose most known line is “I’m a damsel. I’m in distress. I can handle it.” Her whole point was that she doesn’t need saving. And in the show they kept talking about how amazing Hercules was that he saved her (even though she stabbed one of the heads and if she wasn’t there he would die so I wouldn’t call it saving). She literally fainted and fell into his arms at one point! What the hell?!?
2) The whole point of “I don’t want to be Mary Margaret I want to be Snow White” thing doesn’t match the “we are both” point of view from season 2.
3) You could have brought Neal back AND… YOU… DIDN’T?!?!?!?!? And I bet you’re not going to now. Didn’t we Neal fans had enough?
4) So the better place is… Olympus? This doesn’t even make sense in the Greek mythology.
5) Again Charming and Robin didn’t do anything interesting. Where is prince James when you need him.

ParticipantI have this theory that Liam 2 is actually Robin Hood!!
They look similar, and Robin isn’t related to anyone in the core cast. And Robin Hood can very easily be a fake name that he started to use in his stealing days, you know, because he was robbin’ and wearing a hood… Or something.
The timeline doesn’t really make sense, but when has that stopped the writer before?

Participant3) Apparently Rumple was literally in hell? To what moment are they referring, when he almost died of Hook’s poison or when he almost died from a heart attack in the hospital in New York? Because I don’t remember him actually dying and not breathing in any of them. But I could be wrong.
I’m pretty sure the writers are referring to Rumple after he stabbed Pan and then went to the Vault of Eternal Goo, but that’s problematic because it’s not the Underworld nor Hell. It’s a Vault. The Underworld appears to be a totally separate realm, not a part from SB, the EF, ect.
Oh right I forgot about that
I… Don’t understand anything. I don’t think the writers thought this through. I don’t think they thought about anything this arc really.

December 7, 2015 at 5:39 pm in reply to: 5×11“SWAN SONG” FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS and DIALOGUE #313862The Swan Princess
ParticipantThis half season started very promising and I was excited about the Dark Emma arc and I kept the optimistic approach as long as I could but this half season went downhill very fast to the show’s regular pit of shallowness and stupidity.
Favorites:
1) Emma got her red coat and princess curls back! I really missed those.
2) The writers probably understood that all of their plot twists are predictable and that the way to get those emotions from us during half season finales is by sadness, and they were right. Snow, Charming and Henry sitting together at Granny’s got me crying. And even Hook death made me shed tears, even though I already knew what’s going to happen and I don’t really like him. This part of the finale reminded me of the season 3b finale, which was one of the best half season finales of this show.
3) Snow’s coat this episode looked kinda cute on her. Finally some wardrobe choices done right.
4) I didn’t hear Rumple’s speech about how he got his powers back but I think I heard him talking about the Sands of Avalon? If he did then it’s nice to see this coming back and being used again.
Mixed:
1) I was sad to see Zelena go, she was my favorite character this season, but at least we pretty much had a confirmation that she would come back. And I’m glad they didn’t rehabilitate her, and if she stayed she would have had to stop trying to kill everyone eventually.
But I did not understand the wand thing. Regina could use it because she believed in herself? Wasn’t she unable to use it because she wasn’t dark enough or something?
2) The flashbacks were completely unnecessary. But I do have a feeling that they will be relevant in the second half of the season, like what happened with Lily. Expect the little kid to be revealed to be someone related to Henry at some point.
3) Apparently Rumple was literally in hell? To what moment are they referring, when he almost died of Hook’s poison or when he almost died from a heart attack in the hospital in New York? Because I don’t remember him actually dying and not breathing in any of them. But I could be wrong.
Least Favorites:
1) They killed Rumbelle. They killed it. They sent freaking Excalibur through it’s heart. There’s no coming back from this, there is no person I know who would be on board of this ship anymore. And that’s the saddest thing about this episode. And Rumple as a character is dead too.
2) Even the part that was supposed to be good, when he lied to her and told her to go see the world, felt really wrong to me. Like seriously? He kept the truth from her, a truth she deserved to know. She deserved to be able to decide for herself. To have the chance to say goodbye to him, knowing that they’ll never see each other again. To say goodbye to other people. Rumple is not the only person she’s close to! There’s Snow and Emma and Henry. She deserved to have the chance to decide to stay and help to save the town from the Dark Ones. I expected her to be outraged, not to think it’s romantic.
3) And like Rumple is now a Super Ultra Dark One with all the power of the other Dark Ones? But that doesn’t make sense. The darkness and the powers transfer from the Dark One to the one who stabbed him so how could they multiply? But I guess I had to ask that question a few episodes ago with Hook being a second Dark One.
4) Who’s gonna take care of all the babies? Belle? Granny?
5) Hook was super on revenge for some reason and then stopped when Regina reminded him of his daddy. OK. Also why asking Emma to stab you you can just stab yourself it will be less painful to her.
6) Emma was still the Dark One in this episode. She could freeze Hook, or the other Dark Ones or whatever, she could poof Excalibur into her hand. Why was she so helpless?
7) “Remember that thing we swore to never talk about?” “You mean the thing that the writers just thought of toady and shoehorned into the script?” “Yes that one”.

Participant4) Merida… Was in the woods right? When the curse came?
I thought she was in Dun Broch? Having saved her brothers and then fought off Arthur and Zelena?
They showed Merida in the forest when the curse came. I thought it was to show us that she went back to Camelot for some reason.
If she really was in Dun Broch than that means all of the people from there and all the tribes came to Storybrooke with the curse? But we never saw them in Storybrooke.
And I still don’t understand why Merida was with the others and got her memories back from the dreamcacher if Emma never took her memories in the first place!
This show I swear…
