You know what I actually agreed with you until I remembered who she is having sympathy for. She is showing sympathy for the woman who KILLED her son’s FATHER. This is the one person she shouldn’t feel sympathy for and should continue to be angry at. Zelena has made some character development but she is no where near a reformed villain and it was just last season that Zelena was bragging about killing Neal. Do I think she is on a redemption arc, yeah for the most part. I mean it is at least better developed than Hook’s lets’s all just forgive him whenever he makes a mistake redemption, but at the same time Emma, Rumple, and Henry should not be friends with Zelena at this point and time. I guess that goes back to what other posters have called and I totally agree the “hero club” I mean if you are in the “in” group than we forgive everything you do and if you are not well we could care less about you.
Yeah this show really does forget Zelena’s crimes. She has done some horrible things. She basically killed Neal. She raped Robin Hood. Honestly, Regina and Emma and Henry should hate her. But we saw Regina and Zelena make up in 5B and if Regina is ok with her (albeit with some animosity), I think since Emma is so close to Regina now that it makes sense that Emma would treat Zelena well as well.

Yeah I personally would love SF fans to engage in this forum. I simply wanted to get people to start posting in here again, just as people post in the SF thread. There is like legitimate animosity in this ship war haha so perhaps this wasn’t the greatest idea but I was hoping to create some balance to appease the CS fans and perhaps give a different slant on some of the Hook/Emma talk. And again, I’m just pro-Emma so it is kind of fun for me to watch both sides strongly push their opinions on who she should/should have ended up with.
But one question I kind of wanted to pose…..and this is for everyone and let’s try not to get personal here:
Do you think that the writers planned to have Hook be the one to end up with Emma right from the beginning when they introduced him? Or do you think they saw how much the fans liked him and switched the story to kill off Neal and begin Hook’s transformation into a better person so he can be worthy of Emma? Do you think they killed off Neal bc they felt they couldn’t really give Hook the full spotlight as Emma’s true love if Neal was still around? And if that’s true, do you really think they felt it was worth it to basically reset Rumple’s character by killing him off just so Hook could take center stage?
Now I may be in the minority here, but although Hook was crude and sarcastic and overly sexual early on towards Emma, I always thought they had incredible chemistry and that they played off this back and forth game of cat and mouse quite well. I think an argument could be made that the writing early on was supposed to come off as crude but also was supposed to show that while Hook was being sarcastic and rude, there was a definite interest he had in Emma right from the start. It started out as just sexual chemistry but perhaps the writers knew they would develop him and eventually translate that to more than just that. And you could argue that Emma, while put off by his advances early on, was also genuinely intrigued and interested in Hook right from the start. So put me in the boat of thinking the writers cast this dark and handsome popular pirate knowing he would eventually be Emma’s right hand man. At the time also, I felt Neal’s character had gotten a little stale. And it wasn’t until the cave episode in 3A when Emma talks to Neal in the cage that I genuinely cried and felt really bad for the two characters bc at that point, it was painfully obvious that Hook was going to be the one. I know many on here believe the writers appeased fans and changed their plan and their story with Neal once Hook became so popular but I figured I’d throw the question out there on this thread.
My conclusion, Emma’s true love was Neal and Hook’s true love is Emma. Maybe that is why Emma has been struggling so much the last couple of seasons, she is trying to substitute Hook for her true love and it is just not working.
Now that is a very interesting take on it. I just think the two loves are different. What she felt for Neal was entirely different than what she feels for Hook. They both have found a way to her heart but in different ways. I think based on the writing, it is fair to say that Neal brought out the good traits in Emma. And now, while I don’t think Hook brings out the worst traits in Emma, I do think she is more infatuated with Hook which has resulted in her coming off as a bit selfish and only caring about him. Although I will point out that Emma was right there for Zelena in this episode and ensured her that Robin would be taken care of like family. SO that was a case where Emma absolutely showed some sympathy toward someone else other than Hook, although I did not see anyone mention this in their reactions. And I’m glad you agree that Hook’s true love is Emma. But there is something about him that has caused Emma to change a bit. But I can’t really blame Hook for this.
Other than Emma and Hook, you could make the argument that based on what we have seen, Henry is getting just as much action as Snowing and Rumbelle which is pretty disturbing haha
Sometimes they make it seem like Emma and Hook are the only ones having sex on this show. Either that, or they are just 15 million times hornier than Snow and Charming and Belle and Rumple could ever be.
It’s kinda sad, because a whole season of black fairy and Gideon could have been really well done.

I suspect what happened was they wanted to do the Evil Queen, Land of Untold Stories, and Aladdin stuff for Season 6. The Black Fairy and Final Battle might have been the plan for Season 7. Gideon could have still been in Season 6, but perhaps he wouldn’t have been born until the end of the Season. However, they could have combined those plans into the Season 6 we got because 1) They realized that they would be losing key cast members, 2) The show’s ratings had declined, so they wanted to wrap up the main narrative this Season just in case they weren’t renewed for Season 7.
This makes sense. It is unfortunate. S much for Blue to be the big bad after all. Seems like it still is Black Fairy.
