It could be nice if it is Dracula. I would really like to watch a sort of “victorian-gothic” world in which all the characters of the horror movies- gothic books live. And those “black and white” scenes make me remember the old films by Hammer Productions XDD
But… I don’t know, Dracula was not a prince. He was not even nobleman. He was a voivoda, which is a military range –sort of general- who ruled a province in old Valaquia (where Transilvania is, in Rumania, but in the Medieval Ages, under the Ottoman Empire. That is why Vlad Tepes became a legend: he fought the Turkish with such a blood thirst that people began to think that he even drank blood of his enemies) I know that he is also a gothic character, and that not only Fairy Tales have place in the show but… historical characters? Maybe too much? Or maybe not…
You know, Frankenstein was written in the 19th century and so was Dracula… there are lots of legends about Queen Victoria and her sons… it is said that she was into “strange” business, related with magic and experimental science since her husband died. It is also said that she was related in some way with Jack the Reaper –and one of the first suspects was an American actor who played the role of Jekyll-Hide in the theatres of London at the time of the murderers (Richard Mansfield)-
And the Dr. Whale/Frankenstein from OUaT could also be a Mr. Hide-Jack the Reaper. Both Hide and Jack were womanizers –as Dr. Whale is but not Victor Frankenstein- and finally no one knows why, they started to kill women. Dr. Jekyll changed because a potion he drank… well, Dr. Whale had his arm stuck again because of the magic. And all magic comes with a price, so… what about a doctor loyal to a certain gothic Prince Albert (¿? put here the name of other candidates… all of them from England in the Victorian Age, when the original gothic stories took place) from his world who after make use of magic has to paid the price of it by becoming a murderer without knowing it? Being the victims women who rejected –or not- him?
Anyway I hope I’m wrong. I would like to see Dracula as the king-prince of that land… he could make “the evil queen” look like Teresa de Calcuta. 😈
Gypsy is right Trickster, Victor/Whale’s price is having to concede to magic. Man of science hates to concede to man of faith.
Your theory is interesting but very similar to two put out by another posted named fairy dust. Here are the links as I think you’d enjoy reading them. You both seem to have much in common in how you think/theorize. You could almost be twins 😀

Here’s the tweet where Jane mentioned Dracula, she was responding to a fan who was saying that Frankenstein was based on a real person, making him real himself:
Also, Dracula based on real person. Hook certainly drew from legends of real pirates. Alice in wonderland was Alice Lydell
Basically, she’s saying that many a ficticious character has their origin in a real person, but that doesn’t make them any less ficticious. I could see them having Dracula ruling that land, without having to specifically reference Vlad. Frankenstein could have even been inspired by him, this man whose body is technically dead, but he still lives by sustaining himself with blood transfusions. Would they go so far to say that Frankenstein created Dracula? As in, the prince who ruled their land died, (or at least came very close to death), and Dr Frankenstein, being a loyal subject, revived him with blood transfusions, and in doing so, created the vampire?
If they do intend to introduce Dracula, (assuming Jane’s tweet was a hint), I can’t imagine that they could create yet another world where he’d be a better fit, coz Frankenstein’s world looked like the perfect place for Dracula to live. If he’s gonna be anywhere, I’d expect him to be there, whether he’s the one who rules the land or not.
Phee, thanks for finding that tweet I was talking about in live chat last night. It’s a very important tweet. When she was responding to person, she responds about Hook, a character we’ve already seen. She responds about Wonderland, a world we’ve already seen. She responds about Dracula, a character we have NEVER seen. Why Dracula if the intent isn’t to eventually bring him in? Why not Mulan? Why not Lancelot? Both are based on legends that started with some sort of truth to them. But no, she mentions Dracula.
I’ve said many times before, that I believe his world is a fictional Transylvania. Adam Horowits, has stated, that anything real can be written as fictional. Thus, it doesn’t matter if Transylvania was a real place or not. In Victor’s world, it’s a black & white world, one in which black & white 1930’s monster horror movies held from.
Then there’s Dracula: The Prince of Darkness (1966 movie starring Christopher Lee). I’ve also said, many times before on this board, that Dracula was his prince. Many movies were made combining Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman. Dracula always controlled the monster. He’d use his hypnotic eyes and would cast his magic on him. It’s just not a world of science; that’s Victor’s private little world, but it’s a world of magic (how else could Jefferson have travelled there).
I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Red’s family migrated to the Enchanted Forest from this world. They are, after all, werewolves. I’m sure we’re going to see monsters like the Mummy, Phantom of the Opera, Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde, etc. Time to get on our Monster Game face’s

ParticipantI’ve posted about this many times before on other threads. His world is the “fictional” Transylvania, the Transylvania from monster movies. When we hear the name Transylvania, that’s where our minds are automatically transported. Doesn’t matter if there is a real Transylvania. The writers can take anything real and make it fictional. I brought up Jane Espenson’s tweet about this, last night in live chat. Someone asked Jane how could Dr. Whale be Dr. Frankie when he was based on a real character. She answered this. “Dracula based on real person. Hook certainly drew from legends of real pirates. Alice in wonderland was Alice Lydell.”
Why would she throw out the name Dracula? Probably because we’ll be seeing him. In my Frankenstein theory, I’ve mentioned the Christopher Lee, 1966 movie, Dracula: Prince of Darkness. Dracula, Frankenstein & the Wolfman have been in 4 classic horror movies. Dracula always controls Frankenstein.
So Victor’s world, is a classic horror world, one of which the 1930 movies were made, a world in black & white only, a fictional Transylvania, where Dracula is their Prince/Ruler and where most likely, Ruby’s family migrated from.

Last night I had a very elaborate dream where this whole theory (and then some) played out. Unfortunately the details started slipping away quickly as soon as I woke up, (hate when that happens), but one thing I CAN tell you is that it was a MOST entertaining story.
lol Phee 😆
I had a really hot one, about a week or so ago. It was about Rumple. Not Mr. Gold, not pre-Dark One Rumple, not Robert Carlyle, but creepy little Rumple! 😆 Talk about a waking nightmare when I woke. 😯 YIKES! 😮

TheGoldenKey, hope there wasn’t too much damage done to your house. Some places looked horrific.
Thanks Phee. House is less than 2 years old. My poured foundation had a large crack in the spring and had a basement flood then. The did an epoxy injection, but that just cracked right down the middle and water poured in again. Just waiting for it to dry and contractor’s going to redo it all. Sigh…….they just don’t build houses like they use too.

ParticipantJane Espenson tweeted this on Sunday. I think it pretty much confirms that the Wizard was just a red herring to throw us off of Dr. Frankenstein. Decide for yourselves.

@JaneEspenson haha was he just supposed to be Frankenstein’s monster? For a while we thought Doctor Frankenstein was the Wizard of Oz haha!

I’d love to see Tristan and Isolde in here. I do hope they get their happy ending, though. And now that we’ve established a gothic Victorian world, I’d love to bring more of those characters in. My top choices are Dorian Grey, Dracula, Sweeney Todd, and Jekyll/Hyde.
Someone tweeted Jane Espenson about Dr. Frankenstein being based on a real person and how could they use a real person for a OUAT character.
Her response is quite interesting. She stated that Dracula was based on a real person, Hook drew from legends of real pirates, and Alice in Wonderland was based on Alice Lydell.
Why mention Dracula? I’m thinking that my theory of Frankie’s black & white world being Transylvania may be on the money 😉 Our favourite horror story character could be coming to SB sometime in the future.

What do you think of the posibility of Rumple being the coward lion??
I also think Dr. Frankenstein’s brother could be the Tin man he needed a heart after all. what do you think?I don’t see any of that being a possibility, especially when a writer tweets that it was meant to be a mislead to throw us off Whale being Frankie.

Participant@ Mellie, ya, I caught Adam Horowitz tweet about him “coming on board for a “spell”. I posted about that on another thread somewhere. Anyway, the point is that he used the word “spell”. Kinda of spells it us for us, I think.
