Why hasn’t Regina used Belle to bargain with Rumpelstiltskin?
Edward Kitsis: That is an interesting thing because if you’re going to enter into a negotiation like that, you need to have extreme leverage, because if you came to him, like, in the last episode, and said, “I’ll give you something that YOU want if you do this, I have Belle locked up,” and I’m Mr.Gold, I would probably just choke you and then go release her. So I’d say that for Regina to unveil that information has to be done in a way that won’t lead to her death. Because once he finds out what she’s done, God help us all.[/quote]
Well, you said it, my friend. 😀 I honestly cannot wait for it to happen!
[adrotate group="5"]theladybelleParticipantThere are some who blame Snow for telling Cora about Regina and Daniel. And sure, she’s old enough to know how to keep a secret, and I am sure she would have kept it if not for the fact that she’s too kind and trusting. She couldn’t know what kind of a woman Cora is and how domineering and strong she is. She never sees Cora be mean to Regina, which would have made Snow keep the secret I am sure. All Snow sees is a mother who is not on too good terms with her daughter and who is concerned about her daugher. And Snow just wants to help.
Imagine if Cora was more like her husband. She would likely have had a chat with Regina and Daniel and arranged for them to go away together. Then we would be really happy that Snow told Cora. The only reason people blame Snow is because Daniel died.
Regina could easily have said “I know Snow meant well, I am not going to blame her” but she didn’t. And I really think it’s because of Cora’s influence on her. When you have a mother like Cora, you are not going to blame her for anything. It won’t be in you to stand up to the one who has always told what to do and who has been in total control of you your whole life. So Regina only blames Snow because she cannot blame her mother.
We don’t know what happened to Cora after Regina became queen, but it has been speculated that Regina had something to do with it. And that could be because Regina got to live away from her mother and got power of her own as queen. That could have given her strenght and independence to either kill or in another way punish her mother for killing Daniel.May 7, 2012 at 10:45 am in reply to: Behind the Scenes with Gennifer Goodwin & Lana Parrilla #145780theladybelleParticipantI think it’s a lot more simple for Regina to hate Snow. “You promised not to tell my mother, but you still did and therefor my mother killed Daniel, so you are to blame”. As simple as that. It would be easier for Regina to blame her mother, but when you have a strong and domineering mother like Cora, you are not going to blame her. You’ll be too much under the thump to do it.
theladybelleParticipantAugust cannot be Henry’s father. Emma clearly remembers Henry’s father, and she’s clearly not a fan of his, so it cannot be August.
theladybelleParticipantRumple: love makes us sick, haunts our dreams, destroys our days.
Belle: love is hope, it fuels our dreams.theladybelleParticipant@obisgirl wrote:
I love Once’s take on the Beauty and the Beast story. I think it was brilliant, and making Rumpel the ‘figurative’ beast was awesome. Rumbelle when you think about, is the anti-superficial pairing. Prince Charming is great but making Rumpel the beast, shows you don’t have to be as perfect as Charming to get the girl.
I agree! What makes us love or like a person has to do with personality, charisma and chemistry, which has nothing to do with looks. And who has more personality than Rumple? 😀 No wonder Belle fell for him.

Beauty and the Beast does have some disturbing elements, but so do all fairytales. They were originally teaching tools. Just look at Little Red Riding Hood, that has subtext out the waazoo and has filled numerous books disecting it’s meaning. Beauty and the Beast was originally told as a tale to help ease girls into their new marriages, which were often arranged with someone they never met and far from home. It showed that their future husbands weren’t all monsters. So actually it’s one of the few that’s meant to be uplifting and reassuring.
True that.
theladybelleParticipantI just adore Rumbelle! My favourite couple on the entire show. The other couples are great as well, but this couple is different from the others. It has its own sweetness and charm, which I love.
You know, there are actually those who don’t like the couple and think it’s a bad relationship. And I sort of follow the logic of it. Rumple does lock Belle up in his castle and forces her to work for him as a slave. But the redeeming thing is that he’s decent with her and isn’t really acting like a master to a servant. He’s only like that in the beginning, really. He’s not bossy and strict all the time and giving her orders.theladybelleParticipantI’ll still wait and see where their relationship goes. I wouldn’t at all mind if they get together, but it could develope into a more brother/sister relationship. Their shared backstory does add something extra to their relationship. The Saviour and the Protector, right?
theladybelleParticipantRumbelle for me all the way!
There’s another couple I really like, which is not canon but still cute in its own way. Archby! Archie/Ruby. -
