Well that’s….interesting. So Ursula’s happy ending involves a particular object that Hook has or knows where to find. Hmmm… Her voice? Her soul? Her magical shell necklace? A magic trident? A rare portal to the home of merpeople.

Itd be a waste if they didn’t use him. Jafar was one of the BEST villains in all of the show, and Naveen Andrews was just awesome in the part. Plus its not like the character is dead. And if S5 is the final season, id hate to see it pass and nog see thr Aladdin crew. Aladdin and TLM are my faces so I especially wanted to see them both shown on the show. So could this guy be the peddler (who was also the storyteller of the movie) from Aladdin? Possible. But personally id rather thr Author be a new character. For some odd reason….

We saw this episode that Mal poisons Aurora, and she actually stays in her sleep until Emma/Snow arrive in the EF in season 2. So, as far as we know, Maleficent SUCCEEDED in her plans. She took away the thing Stefan loved most. So when Regina visitied her in S1 to get the curse, Mal was still coasting on her win. So tell me what exactly does Maleficent need with the gauntlet? Who is her enemy? Couldn’t have been Stefan. She had already did what she had to do with him. Couldn’t have been Regina because at that point, Regina hadn’t taken the curse (the point where the QoD’s tried to steal the gauntlet from Rump. Belle was still his maid so regina hadn’t yet taken it). Maybe it was Snowing, but that doesn’t fit timeline wise either.

I could see it happening. Also the casting call specified Ursula had to have a beautiful voice…. So I wonder if maybe that may be what she sold instead to go along with the original story.
1) Why would Hook demand a soul
Maybe, as a Goddess, Ursula is confined to some kind of Undersea deity realm. And as we all know, magic comes at a price. The price of leaving would be to give up her god-ship, to give up her very soul. Maybe Hook didn’t demand, it was just the price she needed to pay. Perhaps Hook didn’t hold up his end of the bargain (to provide her transport once the deed was done?) and she ended up losing her soul for nothing.

Actually there’s a whole thing about how merfolk don’t have souls, they just turn into seafoam when they die, but the Little Mermaid was granted the opportunity to obtain a soul after her death. Maybe a riff on that is where A&E get their “soul crushing” talk from.
Maybe whatever happened caused Ursula to lose her soul? Like it’s a literal soul crushing? So her villainy now is because she has not moral compass? (idk. that’s almost too metaphysical for OUAT)
This could work. I mean Cora was LITERALLY heartless afterall. Maybe Ursula is LITERALLY soulless.

Yeah Rump said it during season 2, and Regina later said she learned to make her own version of it.
And I forgot a bit–Regina was going to use it on herself in 312 before she met Zelena, wasn’t she?
