I would like that, but can also see it being broken around the end of this season and having season 4 focus on Rump dealing with being a mortal man again and not as powerful as he once was. Either way, i feel that Rump losing his power is very very close and it will be undone with a kiss by Belle.
My only suggestion is that the kiss that breaks his curse needs to be intiatied by HIMSELF and not Belle. As in, he should choose to give up the power on his own.

But it’s kind of a weak explanation, especially on a TV show were you’re trying to uncover motives and psychological insights into characters. It might be racisim, but was there something that led Hook to feel that way?
True. Hook is a pirate afterall, I’m sure he’s encountered many a mermaid before and given legends about mermaids luring sailors to their death,I doubt they are best friends. There is also the case of Ariel’s mother having been killed by pirates in The Little Mermaid 3. So… Yeah.. That may be some interesting interaction if Hooks ship was the one that killed Queen Athena or if Ariel faults him anyway just for being a pirate.
Idea: Perhaps mermaids aren’t that bad. They just hate pirates and sailors. Remember Alice said she and Cyrus swam with mermaids and battled pirates..

Personally, I thought it was a racism thing. SOME mermaids are really bad, while others aren’t and Hook just doesn’t like them because they are mermaids… Could be wrong but in my mind, Hook is just being racist/speciest. He doesn’t have to have a specific reason, he just may not like their kind.

Consider the fact that Genie (from Aladdin) is the most powerful Disney character thats ever been created. Jafar’s final wish was to be the most powerful genie ever. That technically makes Jafar disney’s strongest villain. (in the show or sequels, I believe its revealed once a genie is freed, they become weaker, so Jafar is definitely more powerful than Blue Genie now) Anyway, I’m just saying…. Well hmm. I forgot where I was going with all this >>

Its possible the curse is different (which is what I think) but its also possible that the curse is the same and they remember everything except the past year and time moves forward simply because Zelena had no use for frozen time and amnesiac cursees.
