The problem in Storybrook was that they were departed from there love. You see it on Charming. In FTL he was also trying but also put down from the outside. If he didn’t met Mary Margreth, he would married another woman, because the King says so.
Mary Margreth was the same. In FTL she didn’t trust that somebody could make things right, like Mary Margreth in Storybrook. Both only survived. But when both could be together and trusted each other. The good in the character grows like their love for each other.
The problem in Storybrook was that David was already married, so the outside had them in their prisons cells and the trust of their love couldn’t grow and neither the good in them.For me the course was like they reset the character to a time when they were on their lowest self. Without her better half and believe in a good and different future, the character didn’t develope to the Best in them. they were stuck at their lowest self.

Yeah that is what i think too. Finally he choose between Love over Magic, but it is too late. Rumple will be desperate, so he will make a deal with Cora, seal it up with a kiss.

I am not a shipper of Bae in Neverland, but it crossed my mind too as heard the words from Hook.

Today I had a crazy thought, because Rumple kissed Belle in the promo.
We know that Rumple kissed Belle in the enchanted forest and the kiss was true love. He only couldn’t believe it and didn’t want it, so it doesn’t worked.
The second time they kiss was after the Curse was broken, but before magic comes back, so Rumple was at that moment NOT the Dark One. The Kiss wouldn’t take his magic away, because he hadn’t magic.
The third kiss was a dream sequence from Belle.
If my clue is right, then the kiss from the Promo with Rumple and Belle would brake his course too if it worked. That means that he would give up magic for her. 😀
But we seen it, that it doesn’t worked, because if she doesn’t know who she is. She is not able to love him back. 😥But maybe my clue is wrong and I forget a kiss. Please comment.

I had read a sweet fanfiction, where Henry give Rumple and Belle his book. So that Belle can read her story, like Mary Margreth to David (when he was in Coma).
But I also love the idea with the lake.
