Okay I said I would wait but I can’t stand it any more!!! I’m claiming Rumplestiltskin’s spinning wheel and Regina’s stash of lipsticks.
[adrotate group="5"]weedithParticipantmia — It’s just a bit of fun. No need to keep track of anything. Just bragging rights that you claimed it! 😀

I still think that Gold didn’t remember until he heard Emma’s name in Granny’s diner in the pilot so he couldn’t be doing anything like figuring out things or trying to turn events before that. Maybe Emma’s magic somehow made her chose to send Henry to Maine. Maybe there is some other reason or some other person that got him there. It probably is just Gold, but there could be another explanation.
Did we find out that Emma has magic? I know Mr. Gold said she was more powerful than she realized but I didn’t take that as magic. Since Emma gave birth to Henry when she was a juvenile and in jail, I didn’t assume that she personally made an adoption plan so she couldn’t have sent Henry anywhere. I thought they made it pretty clear that Mr. Gold arranged for Regina to adopt Henry. I suppose it could have been a really big coincidence.
From “The Thing You Love Most” —-
Regina: I’m not in the business of making deals with you anymore.
Mr. Gold: To which deal are you referring?
Regina: You know what deal.
Mr. Gold: Oh, right. Yeah. The boy I procured for you. Henry. Did I ever tell you what a lovely name that was? However did you pick it?
Regina: Did you want her to come to town? You wanted all this to happen, didn’t you? Your finding Henry wasn’t an accident, was it?
Mr. Gold: Whatever do you mean?
Regina: Where did you get him? Do you know something?

I’d also like to lay my claim to all the wells in FTL, if that’s acceptable.
Lets try to keep it more specific than that. I’ll assign August’s well to you and if there are any particular ones in FTL that you want, let me know!

In the cave when Snow and Charming visited him he seemed to have to work hard to see the future — he squinched his eyes and screwed up his face in an effort to see that it would be on her 28th that she would save them. He didn’t know that by normal meas.
We also know that all magic comes with a price, so maybe he doesn’t just go around willy-nilly future-seeing all the time because it costs him something. It was worth it to do the prediction for Snow because Rumple was getting something out of it (her baby’s name).
weedithParticipantOne thing that seems very much like future-seeing, and not just knowing how a magic arrow works or predicting human behavior, is knowing Emma would come to Storybrooke on her 28th birthday. Even if he planted the book and maybe somehow subtly suggested to MM that she give it to Henry, and even if he was observing Henry and knew he was piecing together that nobody else in town was getting any older or changing—predicting that Henry would make his way to Boston and find Emma on her 28th birthday and that they would return to SB on that very same day, was an awfully accurate stab in the dark. I agree that Rumple does not see everything about the future, but this one is hard to explain away.
weedithParticipantKeep your friends close, keep your enemies closer.
I think both Gold and Regina are using each other and neither one has a scrap of loyalty toward the other. Mr. Gold is definitely pursuing his own agenda, but since Emma’s goal of defeating Regina coincides with his goals, he will “help” her, for his own purposes. I agree with belleoftheball that Gold’s ultimate goals and nature will be murky until the end of the series, and he will flip when we expect him to flop and vice versa. Which of course makes for an awesome character IMHO.

Could It Be Fairy Dust? #139508weedithParticipantOh, and as for your subject-line question, I always assumed the gold tint was related to Rumplestiltskin’s gift of spinning straw into gold. Fairy dust is made from diamonds so it should be clear and sparkly. Maybe Rumple kicks up gold dust with the spinning wheel. Was the previous Dark One gold? I can’t remember.

I really don’t think that they were trying to make Rumpel sexy.
I have to agree that they were going for creepy, eccentric, intriguing, scary, mesmerizing, etc. I really don’t think the makeup people did the gray, scaly skin, the black pointy nails and the rotting teeth thinking, “fangirls will go wild for this!!” I do think that the wardrobe was done intentionally to give him some panache and to reflect his Storybrooke sartorial style, but even there, leather pants aside, I don’t think sexy was on their list.
Now here’s a question for the Rumple-is-hot set out there (and, mind you, I am not excluding myself from that group 😳 )
Did you find the Rumplestiltskin character sexy, as in romantically appealing, before “Skin Deep”? Because for myself, I never would have put him in that role until the canon storyline gave him a tragic love interest. Mr. Gold always had that slightly off, sexy-dangerous appeal, and I am a sucker for a Scottish accent. But giggling gray-boy? No. Not until he caught Belle falling off the ladder.I personally think they have toned back the creepy and humanized Rumplestiltskin’s make-up to some degree. Even his clothing has softened up a bit since Skin Deep. I don’t know if they are responding to Rumple’s status, on the forums at least, as an are-you-kidding-me?-sex-object, or if that was the direction they were going with him anyway. I always hate to overestimate the influence of fan opinion on the producers. I would like to think they have a creative vision and are not going to be put off course by fans, especially considering you can’t please everybody. They surely learned that on Lost!
I’m curious about other people’s opinions on this. ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓
weedithParticipantMy first thought when she found something was that Gold had left it there since he was the last one in the cell (as far as we know). But since they made a big deal about the keyring with keys to every lock in Storybrooke, that points to the key being off of Regina’s keyring. But remember, the last person we saw with that keyring was Henry, and we know he wants to help MM, and we know he spends time at the sheriff’s station.
So my list of suspects is Regina, Henry, and Gold, with Henry now my leading candidate.
