In the red apple’s defense….it is more so a connection to Snow White than it is to the Evil Queen, and considering Once Upon A Time started from Snow White’s story about her daughter and family….the infamous apple represents every fairy tale as a whole I guess. Is it unoriginal or lazy….yes, but ever since they’ve started the half season mess in Season 3 where they jump from world to world…it’s kind of difficult to choose only one poster as the overall Season Poster (Unless it’s dealing with money, hence how Season 4 was Elsa & the Frozen Apple.) Imagine Season 3 poster without the apple, many would be complaining because they used Neverland instead of Oz as the cover, or vice versa.
And when you look back on it…it all kind of started with apple. Failure of the apple’s sleeping curse led to the dark curse, and Henry going under the same apple’s curse led to the breaking of the Dark Curse. And as I said…Adam and Eddy aren’t the best on posters anymore….Hades sitting on his throne or even a pomegranate with underworld flames and whatnot would probably be a bit too spoilery for them, and the creative/marketing team of OUAT aren’t that bright enough when it comes to new marketing/advertisement ideas, to think of the better ideas you all have come up with.
However I will admit…flames alone surrounding Hook’s face probably could have been enough for this half season poster, because I’m 100% positive Emma’s Dark Swan poster is good enough and dark enough to cover both season arcs. I just think that use of the apple may just be some type of tradition now for Adam and Eddy, as they constantly remind us that to them, Snow White is where every fairy tale began.
At this point in the game, it’s safe to say they’re just trying to put something out quick and easy that the audience already knows about, and anyone who knows anything about Fairy Tales will know of the infamous apple. There is only one other item that probably could have replaced the magic apple which is tied to the central core cast Snow White, Emma Swan, Regina Mills, etc…and that would have been Henry’s storybook, which probably could have worked ten times better but again, would be too difficult the OUAT Creative team to create something brand new than the route they’ve been using since Season 3.
For the overall DVD Cover, I’m placing my money on Dark Swan with Black Apple and Underworld Flames surrounding the edges with the cast photos at the top or bottom. And the face that will appear on the side of the DVD this time will probably be Hook.

While I loved the new Star Wars, I was disturbed to discover that certain people somehow ship Rey with Kylo Ren, after he tortured her, tried to kill her, and killed his own father. It’s just unfathomable to me.
This exactly. Right here. It just squicks me. Almost as much as CS. I am also disturbed by the Kylo Ren fandom for the same reasons. My guess: the same people that ship CS ship Reylo.
Today’s romance goals are truly disturbing to me….like seriously, when did abuse become considered an act of love? What the hell is going on in today’s society….is it a domination fetish girls today are having. where being humiliated, beaten, stalked, and/or degraded is a major turn on?
And you mean to tell me that there are people out there who really ship Kylo and Rey? Besides the obvious reasons why they really couldn’t work, aren’t they siblings or something?? I thought I saw something sparking between Finn and Rey….it wasn’t confirmed, but there were some sparks.
I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve read that it’s 100% okay for Baelfire to be dead because MRJ was not “hot” and did meet the surface expectations of what a true love for the main heroine should look like.
Everytime I see a an Anti SF post that says MRJ is ugly or unnactractive, I think:

I don’t know the stats now, but I do know that a few years ago, the majority of OUAT watchers were women under the age of 35. That ultimate sweet spot of advertising, between the ages of 18 and 25, was especially high. So, yes, young but I don’t think they are so young that they’ve never read/watched any of those classic moral tales. I think a lot of it (sadly) comes down to the “Twilight effect” but not the series itself. The guy is super hot, described as perfect in every way while the object of his desire is a blank slate, perfect for audience insertion. And suddenly the guy can do no wrong because of said hottness and because the reader/viewer has inserted themselves in the place of the object of affection and being told by the author how that should feel. Hook is (apparently) super hot; Emma has always been our “everyman” for the audience caught up in the mythical world. CSers got caught up in the feeling of what it would be like to be “wooed” by Captain Hook when he looks like Colin. One of the best comebacks I ever heard against CS was to picture yourself being held down, sword at throat, being told that “when I jab you with my sword, you’ll feel it” but by the Dustin Hoffman version of Hook. Now do you still ship CS? Probably not. The act both versions of Hook commit are the same but one is romanticized and becomes a shippable moment because that Hook is hot. It’s what we, as women in this society, are told is acceptable and desirable. It’s the adult version of telling a little girl that a boy picks on her on the playground because “he likes her” and she shouldn’t fight back or put up resistance because then he won’t like her anymore. Hey, look. I brought this back to rape culture.

Moral of OUAT: If the guy’s hot with a beard….forgive him for every sin and label him your true love….even if he did just try to send your whole family to Hell ten seconds ago.
What made Neal such a better choice for Emma wasn’t because he was hot, her baby daddy, or her true love…..it was because Neal was a grown man who knew who he was and what he wanted in life…..Hook is an alcoholic, morally confused, selfish man-child….and if they try to use Hook’s past as an excuse for him, let’s weigh out who had it worse….Hook whose father sold him and his brother into the military or Neal who lost his mother because of said pirate, then lost his father who couldn’t choose him over power, sent to NL where basically the root of all Stilskin Men issues lives, and was basically on his own ever since….yet Neal still managed to come out on a moral higher ground despite his far rougher background than the One-handed drunk.
And now that I think about it….CS hate Papa Hook for selling Hook off into the service, but seemed to have forgotten that it was Hook who sold Baelfire off to Peter Pan.
@RumplesGirl I feel Jessica Jones, the Librarians, and various other shows used Ouat as the poster child of cautionary tale of how NOT to do it. Seriously I bet the writers are like now we are not going to be like that one show with that crazy fandom. hahahah I think this gif personifies my idea.

Happy New Year! So Ranisha, RG, and I might have done a bad thing last night. We plotted out Pride and Prejudice as a CS fic. The concept was what would Pride and Prejudice look like if it was series on TV today with a fandom following. Here were the results: –Wickham would be the hero. He has a lot of man pain. –Darcy would be considered mean, abusive, and not deserving of Lizzy. –The main ship of the show would obviously be Wickham/Lizzy. (Wizzy) –Lizzy forgives all of Wickham’s dastardly actions because he is just misunderstood and, of course, has man pain. –Wickham’s man pain originates from having to watch Darcy grow up with advantages and money while he is just a poor nobody. –Darcy would be shipped with Caroline Bingley because, of course, he doesn’t deserve Lizzy. We had more, but that was the gist of it. Sadly, this would probably happen.
This just goes to show what day and age we’re living in, and I pray to God that Pride and Prejudice is never redone because this list is 100% accurate what would happen in today’s television, and would be an utter disgrace to Jane Austen’s glorious work. It’s such a shame young girls are being taught that true love is all about bad-assery, guy liner wearing, tattooed up, womanizing, dangerous, borderline alcoholic bad boys who come from dysfunctional backgrounds who use their past as an excuse to make other people’s lives a living hell.
