Regina’s not either. She has just had more practice. She struggled with basic magic for awhile to the point where Rumple started to train Zelena in order to hedge his bets because maybe Regina wasn’t good enough.
@WR Response:
Ummm….more practice….Regina’s mastered magic….dark magic at least. White magic might take getting some used to manipulating, and Rumple wanted to see which sister had the most potential to cast the curse, hence he was looking for who would willingly sacrifice the thing they loved most. Which I originally believe was supposed to be Zelena due to Rumple’s first born thing, but given Zelena’s circumstances made her unfit to cast the curse.
@RG Quote:
Emma has the most potential but she is True Love Incarnate which have been told time and time again is the most powerful magic there is. DAys into her training and she burned Zelena with the power of her magic. REgina has yet to get ONE SINGLE hit off on Zelena.
@Truidia Quote:Emma is not the most powerful sorceress alive. Just because you are born with the raw talent to throw a 110 mph fastball does not mean you can hit the strike zone on your third attempt at getting it over home plate. I will concede that she certainly has the most potential.
@WR Response:
I will also concede that Emma has the most potential to become the most powerful sorceress alive, but her lack of faith and belief in herself stalls that potential. Even Regina conceded to the fact that Emma could become the most powerful witch, but Emma must first have faith in herself, and accept her role as Savior willingly instead of believing what everyone else is telling her. Once she Willingly accepts her role, will her magic meet it’s true potential such as we saw when Regina was training her.
As for Regina not getting one hit….well, I believe I’ll just let this episode answer that statement. 🙂

I agree that it’s been beaten over our heads that true love magic is the most powerful. If Regina keeps training Emma, I truly believe she will surpass Regina’s abilities pretty quickly. To me Regina is more of a scrapper. Born with magic, but not the most talented. Her success in wielding came from hard work. That gives her precision and control over the abilities that she has. Emma on the other hand, is a big ball of power without any focus. Capable of quite a bit if she concentrates, but also is probably very dangerous if she doesn’t.

Didn’t say you did. Was referring the general argument being pointed out which was started by someone who does believer that

@WickedRegal’s Response:I couldn’t have said it better myself! Both Regina and Zelena had been born with the gift of magic, as was Emma…the only difference is Emma is born from true love. If Regina trains Emma, then OVERTIME Emma can surpass Regina and even Rumplestilskin, but she has to first willingly embrace it! Which I couldn’t have been more proud when she was doing magic in Granny’s…
Emma’s just got to…you know…LET IT GO! 😛

Emma was able to leave SB in 311 because she’s the savior. That’s not the characters. That’s her status as savior.

The characters are the conduit of the writers. If the characters constantly keep referring to Emma as the Saviour, it’s because the story tellers don’t want us to forget that she’s the Saviour. I do agree with you that her Saviour role was specific to the original Curse and now her role as a magical being should just be as a super powerful magical being. But the writers insist on continually labeling her with that Saviour title.
May 3, 2014 at 11:08 pm #266078SlurpeezParticipantRegina said Emma had so much wasted potential. So far we’ve seen Emma mostly fighting that magical impulse, though she has made strides in leaps and bounds. If Emma could just tap into her own reserve of TL white magic, then we might actually see her get big results, like the time she suspended an entire bridge in midair, helped Regina move the moon, and stopped the fail-safe with Regina. Yet, there must be some reason that Emma is currently using a sword rather than magic. I will wait to see the scene in the context of the entire story.

That’s actually another thing that would make this scene work for me as a body switch. Emma’s newborn baby brother is actively in the process of being used as a spell ingredient. If anything could force her into focusing her TL magic and blasting it like a pro, that should do it.
May 4, 2014 at 12:35 am #266099truidiaParticipantBy that logic, Regina will always be the Evil Queen. Everyone always calls her that. The promo photos label her as such. Yet she keeps acting the opposite, ex. Saving Roland, giving Emma and Henry a beautiful life together, protecting Snow White and the baby, the list goes on.
Re: Emma using the sword.
Perhaps Zelena did manage to take/neutralize Emma’s magic via Hooks lip curse or some other means.
