I AM not sure I like the idea of BELLE having the dagger… I am of the opinion that spouses/ lovers should support each other equally and one should not rule the other… side by side not MASTER / SLAVE … WARDEN / PRISONER … PARENT / WAY WARD CHILD….
No one would expect Belle to actually USE the Dagger to control him or make him do anything. They wouldn’t give it back to Rumple himself, because he wants to kill Zelena and he’d be unstoppable if he had his Dagger. But I doubt anyone in town would feel the need to control him, because they do actually trust him apart from the Zelena thing, so there would be no reason for Regina or the Charmings, or anyone else to keep the Dagger for themselves. IMO it makes the most sense to give it to Belle. It would mean that Rumple was safe from being controlled by anyone. It’s the situation that would give him the most freedom to be himself, after having been kept prisoner and been controlled for so long.

He should be able to make his own choice, and honestly I woud never look at Belle the same if she so much as held the dagger out of his reach let alone did anything with it.
May 3, 2014 at 9:35 am #265722PriceofMagicParticipantI think Belle would give the dagger back to Rumple but ask him not to kill Zelena, saying that “Baelfire wouldn’t want you to darken your soul because of that witch”. I could see Rumple giving his dagger to Belle to look after because he trusts her but Rumple shouldn’t be controlled by his dagger by any one otherwise he doesn’t have free choice.
Regina should’ve let Rumple kill Zelena, because not killing her is going to come back and bite them all.

So it would be favourable for someone else to have the Dagger instead? The fact of it is that SOMEONE has to have custody of that thing, and whoever that someone is, will have the ability to control him if they so desire. Bobby has said that the farther away from Belle that Rumple is, he more lost he is. If they’re back together, he should be pretty centered, he wouldn’t be a loose cannon, he’d be striving to be the best version of himself, which is what Belle inspires in him. But he’s no angel, and he has his weaknesses, and I daresay he wouldn’t trust himself with the Dagger right now even if they did offer to give it back to him. So it’s gotta go to SOMEONE. Someone Rumple trusts to not abuse the power that comes along with it. Someone the whole town trusts to not abuse the power that comes along with it. I think Belle is the ideal candidate. She wouldn’t actively USE it to stop him from killing Zelena. He’d hold off on killing Zelena of his own accord because he knows that Belle trusts him to not kill Zelena and he’s trying to be a good person because that’s just how Belle inspires him.

May 3, 2014 at 9:41 am #265726PriceofMagicParticipantIf someone HAD to have the dagger that wasn’t Rumple then Belle would be the best candidate but I still think she’d give it back to him because she loves him and ask him not to kill Zelena.

Keeper of FelixMay 3, 2014 at 9:42 am #265728RumplesGirlKeymasterI’m really happy that Regina is showing honest character development, but at the same time, it feels like Emma just got demoted as “Savior.” They kept saying only Emma could defeat her and now….nope.

( Do not want to be overly religious) AS for REGINA having white magic… is that not the basis of most religions ( Western) seeking redemption and forgiveness for past sins? Doing wrong but then trying to do better and make up for past mistakes ….
I agree about the dagger. I don’t think Belle should get it, not just for the reason above, but also because Belle does not see Rumple clearly. She refuses to see his bad acts and tendencies. Even Neal called her out when she tried to make it seem that Rumple acted to save the town, when he only died to save Neal and Belle. Take them out the equation and he wouldn’t care. I say give it to Snow.
As for redemption, yes, people should be able to redeem themselves, but that does not mean they don’t have to atone for past mistakes or have to face the consequences of what they have done. Atonement is a big part of the Christian religion. Hence you have confession and penance. Redemption/Forgiveness is not a get of jail pass to let you do what ever you want with no consequence.
Keeper of Hook and Emma's smoldering first kiss, a certain Pirate's sauciness, the Evil Queen's snarkiness, Grumpy's gruffness and a drop of true love to make it all go down smooth.
May 3, 2014 at 9:52 am #265733theoniongirlParticipantI was sure it would be a dream sequence … until I watched it. No, waayy too elaborate.
Ugh. I feel like all that Rumple redemption is going to be thrown away (because of Neal, who would never, EVER want that, not in a million years). I really hope they don’t go there.
