Im thinking this is Auroras mother, Helen of Troy was beautiful. So beautiful she was The Face that Lauched A 1000, ships and I believe its an homage that they named her Helena, also according to Adam and Eddy aurora’s mother was the orginal Sleeping Beauty.

Well it seems Julian Morris is headed back to the set, so safe to say we’ll be getting more development for Aurora. Maybe the timing would work for #13 to be the ep where Aurora saves Phillip, and they could parallel that with flashbacks of her mother’s story?
Does whatshername who plays Maleficent have Twitter? We need to start stalking her in case she heads back to Vancouver one day soon. 😉

November 16, 2012 at 11:51 pm #161127SlurpeezParticipantThe guest role of Helena is being cast. She’s a 30-year-old brunette who is a sophisticated lady. Confident and well-bred, this brunette knows her way around kings and courts and can wrap any man around her finger. Still, don’t let the sweet-talking fool you: She’s a warrior and has slain many deadly creatures; she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty to get what she wants. http://uk.eonline.com/news/363701/spoiler-chat-scoop-on-once-upon-a-time-glee-homeland-ncis-and-more
I think this firmly puts Helena in the same camp as Helen of Troy, whose face who launched a thousand ships, because her beauty caused men to go to war for her. As usual, sounds like OUAT made her out to be a heroine as well.

November 18, 2012 at 8:06 pm #161260dreaming_mikeParticipantFirst character that came to mind for me was Megara, from Hercules. Still could be her, as Helen could always be a “codename”, like Mulan had during shooting over the summer.
November 19, 2012 at 12:32 am #161277naomiParticipantNice idea about the “original” Sleeping Beauty.
Have they announced the Belle-centric episode yet? Maybe this woman is Belle’s mother.
Or a younger Cora? (doubtful).
I love Megara too, but I think they’ll introduce her, if they’re going to introduce her, in a later season. They’ve already got a lot of loose ends to tie up this season (we have yet to see: what happened to Pinocchio, what happened to Bae, Frankenstein’s brother, what happened to Neal, how The Giant will return, fairies getting their magic back, Mulan’s backstory, Aurora’s backstory, Lancelot’s backstory/return, possible Hook in Neverland, etc.) and this is already 2×13 – past they half-way point of the Season.
Actually, I’m quite shocked that they’re still casting all these new characters. If anything, I’ll think the new additions will simply support the main characters we already have (like Belle, Mulan, Aurora, Hook), rather than be major fairy tale characters from other stories (like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid).
The one exception is the casting of Ethan Embry who is already slated to return as a major recurring character. 👿 WHO IS HE? PAN? BAE? NOBODY? Gah.
November 20, 2012 at 7:48 pm #161416evilqueenParticipantHey, here’s an extended description (as compared to slurpees108 version) of Helena:
[from http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/11/10-spoilers-a-parenthood-surprise-vampire-diaries-does-holiday-cheer-and-a-new-glee-guy-is-introduce.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter%5D“In episode 13, we’re going to meet Helena, a well-bred lady of the courts who is also a fearless hunter. Here’s her official character description — any guesses as to her fairy-tale identity? “Female, late 20s to early – mid 30s, brunette. A confident, well-bred lady, Helena knows her way around kings and courts. She can sweet-talk with the best of them and can wrap any man around her finger. But Helena is also a fierce warrior, and takes immense pride in the deadly creatures she has fought and slain. A sophisticated lady who loves adventure — this highborn hunter will stop at nothing to get her quarry, even if she has to get her hands dirty.”
I think assuming it is Helena of Troy would be too straightforward and the writers wouldn’t give it away just like that. I would love it to be Xena or female Van Helsing!
This specific detail of her being brunette makes me think, maybe Pocahontas, in the end she was a high born princess and lived along forest creatures! -
