I’m placing vote in the Helen of Troy camp as well. The show is no stranger to Greek mythology (King Midas, sirens), so Helen of Troy won’t be that much of a stretch for the writers.

I agree the name would made it a little bit too obvious. Maybe Hooks Spyglass is right and she is Auroras mom and in real she is the original Sleeping Beauty, the sleeping valkyrie Brynhild/Brünhild/Brinhild (soo many name Variations^^). This could explain that female warrior thing. But on the other hand I can remember that Horowitz mentioned in an interview that Achilles would be possible.I also know that Helena of Troy is part of the Faust. She appears in Goethes Faust II. and the first “Faust Book” from 1587, the “Historia von D. Johann Fausten”. So it could really be Helena of Troy. Well, we will see.

For episode 2.13, the guest role of Arlo is being cast. He’s about 40 years old, tall and fat, and also wise, spiritual, and fatherly.
My guess as to his identity?: With the recent casting notice for “Helena,” and based on a wikipedia article I found for Old King Cole that mentions a daughter named Helen or Helena, I think Arlo could be the “merry old soul” of the nursery rhyme.
HUH??? ❓ ❓ ❓

If Helena’s a princess, and they’re casting a father figure for this ep too, I can buy that Old King Cole and is daughter theory, (and I’m gonna be singing that nursery rhyme in my head all day now).
I’m sticking with Helena being Aurora’s mother. If she “takes immense pride in the deadly creatures she has fought and slain” then chances are she’d go after DragonMaleficent, who would then need to retaliate and bust out the sleeping curse.
November 21, 2012 at 4:48 pm #161545hooks spyglassParticipantagrred Arlo could just be a nod to music again (
Arlo Guthrie – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arlo_Guthrie) im wagering its possibly Aroras father, or even somebody who commisions Helena to slay a ‘dragon’ 😉
November 26, 2012 at 2:54 pm #162391hooks spyglassParticipantafter lastnights episode i have no doubt this is all about Sleeping Beauty, Now that Cora has her heart and controls her ,can she can control her in the neitherworld also? Which feeds the imposter theory if she can do that Henry or Charming would have no way of immediatly finding out that Cora is Snow etc. things could go very dark esp, if Faux Snow has to kiss Charming to wake him. Would some of Coras rotten soul corrupt him? I do like the teaming of Rumple and Regina (the bbqphoto forshadowed this with him holding a GOLED QUEEN chess piece) one thing i have noticed there hasnt been much of the Charming family on set since those photos surfaced but there has been alot of Regia,Hook ,Cora , Rumple Etc. so where is Emma and Snow?

hm, would Faux Snow be able to wake Charming up though? If Cora possess her heart, would she still feel this whole ‘true love’?

resting? catching up with the whole family business? 😆
good point though, they might be saving Charming from the Sleeping curse? I mean, in the end, he did sort of switch spaces from the sleeping curse realm to the post-curse one, wouldn’t that have any implications? Also, I have this idea that it’s the Charming that might be the imposter since Cora could’ve found a way to get to the sleeping curse world, just like with any other world, and slip into David’s body – if she’s so good at pretending she’s dead (Regina saw her body, apparently), it wouldn’t be a problem for her to pretend she’s the ‘asleep David’ until Snow supposedly kisses him and wakes him up. No one would even suspect anything!November 26, 2012 at 9:56 pm #162476hooks spyglassParticipantor somehow Regina falls into the portal and Cora takes to being Regina. (i hope not)…. arghh so many possibilities
😈November 29, 2012 at 1:04 pm #162816SlurpeezParticipantWhat if Arlo is also a giant? Jorge Garcia said in an interview that his character is set to reappear in some unknown future episode. Maybe Arlo is the giant’s father. Jorge’s character told Emma he was all alone, which means we may see more of his backstory of how he lost his family. What if Helena, who is a “fierce hunter of deadly creatures” is also a giant-killer like Jack was?

Here’s her official character description — any guesses as to her fairy-tale identity? “Female, late 20s to early – mid 30s, brunette. A confident, well-bred lady, Helena knows her way around kings and courts. She can sweet-talk with the best of them and can wrap any man around her finger. But Helena is also a fierce warrior, and takes immense pride in the deadly creatures she has fought and slain. A sophisticated lady who loves adventure — this highborn hunter will stop at nothing to get her quarry, even if she has to get her hands dirty.”
On second thought.
I don’t know if anyone has said this yet, but I think Helena could be Guinevere, the wife/consort of King Arthur who falls in love with Sir Lancelot and begins an affair with him. A lot of rumors are going around that we’re going to see Lancelot again this season – or at least his backstory – and Guinevere will likely play a part in it. Remember “Lady of the Lake?”
Prince Charming: Must be a curious tale.
Lancelot: What?
Prince Charming: Well, how a knight of the round table ended up a sword for hire.
Lancelot: You mean how did I fall from grace? The same way you ended up running from King George. A woman.Back to the character description.
First of all, Guinevere is definitely a woman of the court. But I think it’s likely that the Once writers will also give her fighting/hunting skills to match her husband’s, because they seem to like writing strong female roles. Also, in the old tales Guinevere is portrayed as being incredibly beautiful – which explains why Lancelot betrays his king to be with her. In fact, some people will describe her as the “Helen of Troy” of Arthurian legends (maybe “Helena” is a play on this to throw us off?). Lastly, I’m not sure about the original tale says, but Guinevere is often portrayed as a brunette.
Thoughts?
I’m not sure what this means for Arlo. Maybe he’s King Arthur.
