OH HAY! I wrote an essay! Except that it’s super outdated now that 3B has started airing, but I think some of the core arguments still have some merit. There are reasons I don’t write more (because I just keep going and going…). This is my favorite bit because it’s how I feel as well:
I’ll be honest, guys like Hook intimidate me. I have a hard time believing that I could truly mean anything to them, that they are sincere about their feelings about me when they’re making suggestive comments my way. I like Hook as a character, I really do. He’s incredibly handsome and gets all the wittiest lines, but he’s not the kind of guy I gravitate to. Not being much of a sexual person, having someone constantly come on to me is anxiety inducing, because even if his intentions are genuine I know I could never live up to his expectations. But I’m not Emma. We may be almost the same age, but our characters are vastly different, so really, who am I to know who would be better for her?

The fact that she said that.. I’ll never not think they wouldn’t get back together if they had enough time. He was saying he just wants her happy and there’s so many things she could have said.
“Thank you.”
“I am happy. Henry makes me happy.”Whatever.
But she brought it back to them. How they were happy. And she said it with a smile on her face. That was really the first time she talked about their time together with a smile on her face. There was the pain and the hurt and the separation, but she isn’t focused on that anymore. Not like she had been in Neverland. She’s moved on from focusing on that and focuses on the joy they had together. The happiness they shared. If given the actual second chance, those two crazy kids could have made it.
