5A is the most sloppily written arc in all of OUaT. No doubt. I myself was asking those very same questions. There is a name for what they were doing. Does anyone else think Merlin was a last-mint change (from Yen Sid) just because they wanted to do a Camelot arc?
But all of that’s being tossed aside anyway, because we’re going to the Underworld to save a stupid pirate.
And I agree with you, Watcher. I really wanted to see the Hat be worn. Maybe I should make a mock-up.
Honestly, Kingdom Hearts is starting to make more sense than OUaT.

5A is the most sloppily written arc in all of OUaT. No doubt. I myself was asking those very same questions. There is a name for what they were doing.
To be fair, there are different writing styles — the whole plotter vs pantser debate (for example, Agatha Christie was allegedly a “pantser,” and didn’t actually know who the murderer would be until the last chapter of the detective story she was writing). I think these are different types of authorial styles, and one isn’t inherently worse than the other.
That said, it doesn’t take away from your point, which is that OUAT plotting has gotten horribly, insultingly lazy. I’d imagine a pantser would need to do a lot of editing work for plot holes, loose threads, and so forth, which in OUAT’s case isn’t done at all. So with each season, we’re getting sloppier and sloppier first drafts.
Which makes me wonder — clearly, ABC doesn’t care too much about the quality of this show, because the downward spiral has only gotten steeper with each season since S3. But don’t A&E care? I mean, it is their career. I don’t know if I quite understand how the shobiz industry works, but I’m assuming that eventually they’re going to move to a next project. Won’t a downtrend on a show and pretty forceful criticism from both the fans and the professional critics not hurt their chances at future funding? Or is OUAT still considered successful by the industry’s standards because, simply put, it still makes money?

In my study to know more about Game of silence i saw the original show version the Turkish one, with no subtitles, all in turkish, i didnt get anything of what they were saying, and i saw all 26 episodes of 2 hours each, and i can say that i understood more of that story without knowing the language( maybe bc the acting is amazing and u can see what is happening just in the acting) and the story made more sense, than OUAT, that is confusing and makes no sense.

the professional critics
The problem is that professional critics fan pander the show, they are not critic towards it , they praise and about the fans, are seen as haters that dont like a show bc their ships didnt make it, in fact there is a media that actually said that fans were messing with polls about one episode i think was 510, where teh episode got a F note from fans and the media came to say that teh episode was so good that haters were using informatic ways to mess with the poll. That is one of OUAT problems, the Professional critics dont dare critic the show, dont know if is afraid of going against Disney, or afraid of a portion of fans that are bullies and toxic, in the end that is OUAT thing, fans critics are called haters bc of ships, media cater to ouat and ratings are not that bad( even with the huge drop), bc they dont have competition on that day and hour, so yeah, for all means ouat is a hit.
