Emma and Neal are meant to be! Even though a curse once separated them, we can also flip that statement on its head and say that if it hadn’t been for the original curse, Emma and Neal never would have met.

Fate destiny whatever you wanna call it

In other words, Adam and Eddy have planned from the conception of the show that Neal, the reason for the dark curse, would meet and fall in love with Emma, the savior of the curse!

The reasons for the entire show are these two : the reason for the curse and its savior. The Savior, the daughter of light, and her Champion, the son of darkness

they said that their story is about showing how two people who love each other but were separated can work it out! If you don’t believe me, listen to the official podcast for 3×14 for yourselves! Emma and Neal may hit road-bumps, fake-fiancees, portals, pirates, and curses, but no matter what, destiny brought them together in the first time and destiny (aka Adam and Eddy) will bring them together again!. *Believe in Second Chances!!!!!!!!!*

YES! And everybody knows that Rumple has the gift of foresight! He probably has already seen that Neal’s second chance at happiness will be be with Emma and Henry!

How fitting that the show is about to go to Oz!!! I’d love to see Neal herocially save his father (whom I predict is in Oz), and for Emma to go after Neal, her home! 🙂

I like how RG talked about the wake-up song.  I really hope we start getting more momentum on the back-half of the season because if the writers were wanting to undercut any perception of “cliche” and “predictable” for SF–I would say they’ve done it.

    Speaking of “cliche”

    Schmacky said this

Some language things so I linked it

From the article that RG mentioned (edited for language):

Emma and Neal fell in love, were probably each other’s first love. But over a decade has separated them. They’ve both had relationships since being with one another. I for one like that one of the love stories on this show be about reuniting with an old love. I’ve made mention before that they have so many different types of romantic love stories. First love and last love (David & Snow), an age gap (Rumple and Belle), second loves (Regina, Robin, Hook with whomever they end up with).

There is no other couple, as of yet, that would be a first love separated by YEARS to only return to one another besides Emma and Neal. Their story is unique in OUAT because it would be the story of two people falling back in love with each other.
And what’s wrong with that? What is so horribly cliched about that?

There is nothing cliche about Emma and Neal being each others’ first loves, being separated by outside circumstances, and yet reuniting again (repeatedly)! How many real-life stories do you know that start and end like that? I don’t know of any! If anything, no one I know in real life actually started out as true love, separated, and then ended up together! I’ve read about such real-life scenarios happening, but I can count them on one hand! That’s exceedingly rare in the real world! If anything, it’s much more commonplace for people not to marry their first loves in this day and age. Hardly any high-school sweethearts, or college sweethearts for that matter, actually end up together in the long run! PLus, we already have an example of first love not being true love in the case of Regina potentially getting together with Robin Hood after the death of her first love! We have yet to see a couple who loved each other, but who were separated due to self-sacrifice, actually end up together! (I’m not counting Rumbelle, since Rumple had love interests before Belle, nor am I counting Snowing, who didn’t actually sacrifice each other, but were married at the time of the curse). Emma and Neal’ story is a completely unique and original, new, and real-life fairytale.

I hadn’t seen that one on Schmacky’s site–but so often what I’m thinking Schmacky has already said somewhere.

I have to agree the idea of two people falling back in love is something we have not seen on the show.  That prompted a thought for me far as speculation here, but even thought it wouldn’t be what they would do, still fun to imagine a “What if”…. the spoilers  sort of indicate this won’t happen…..because of the potion thing

What if Neal had to go and actually get Emma to fall in love with him without her memories, without knowing he’s the father of her child.  It’s one of those things that get said about SF that is only “first love” and only about Henry–so a memory-less Emma Swan would actually sort of test that.

Of course there’s probably some contrived fairy-tale reason Neal’s stuck somewhere and only Hook could make the trip.

I sorta think the whole cliche argument is swept aside when you consider that

    1) Neal is 250 years old and lived in Neverland

    2) Emma came through a magical wardrobe tree to escape a dark curse

    3) Pinocchio broke them up

How is this cliche? Is this sorta thing happening a lot? Are there legions of women out there who were magically reported to another world where they met the son of the Dark Sorcerer and then had a real life wooden man break them up to fulfill destiny?

LOL! I have to admit, that on the surface it sounds completely absurd! “You left me because Pinocchio told you to?” sounds like the kind of excuse a man comes up with when he’s gone crazy, is an absurd liar (irony), or is on an acid-trip! How can CS fans continue to perpetrate the idea that Emma would have understood or believed Neal if he’d tried to tell her the truth about fairytales? Something tells me that Miss Skepetical would not have believed Neal, a grown man. The only reason Emma even stuck around for Henry is that she thought he was a kid who confused fantasy with reality. Yet, it took Henry’s asymptomatic “death” from a poisoned apple for a rational woman like Emma to believe in the possibility of curses. I think Emma, who grew up in our world, would’ve thought Neal had gone mental, just as Alice’s father thought she was crazy in “OUAT in WL.”

Yes her own son telling her these tales and her reaction was that he was crazy and she was ready to leave him with Regina and then only stuck around because his therapist said it was a good idea.

Yes! And her father grew resentful of Alice because she would not stop talking about WL. And for Neal, he’s already seen that when he tries to do the right thing (take his father to a land without magic; save the Darlings) he sorta get screwed! He was in between a rock and a hard place.
