    To add to slurpeez’s interpretation of “Jolly Roger”, there might also be meaning in the “jolly”, which means happy and satisfied, which is what Hook would be if he truly regained his good form, which he could possibly do by giving the ultimate selfless sacrifice.

    Very good point. I think ultimately, Hook’s character journey is about a man returning to good form. For so long he operated on a “for Hook and only Hook” basis, until Baelfire and that didn’t end well. Even with Emma, his idea of good form is selfishly motivated–get Emma Swan’s love for HIM. But the ultimate act of sacrificing himself for the man he once almost adopted would be good form indeed. I really hate that anyone has to die. While I can see how that’s part of the story–if to works out this way–it still really sucks
