A thought occurred to me. One of the reasons I see people say that Neal has to die is because his story is over–he was introduced as Baelfire in 108, Desperate Souls, and his story has always been tied to Rumple, not to Emma. Therefore, because he and Rumple have reconciled, his story is over and he exit.

However this isn’t actually true. Nealfire has been around since theĀ Pilot and was mentioned long before Desperate Souls aired.

    The Pilot.

    Regina: And the father?

    Emma: There was one.

Regina: Do I need to be worried about him?

Emma: Nope. He doesn’t even know.

    Nealfire’s importance #1 : Henry’s father

    The Price of Gold

Regina: No. Because you no longer worry me, Miss Swan. You see, I did a little digging into who you are. And what I found out was quite soothing. It all comes down to the number seven.

    Emma: Seven?

Regina: It’s the number of addresses you’ve had in the last decade. Your longest in anywhere was two years. Really, what did you enjoy so much about Tallahassee?

Nealfire’s importance #2 : We will later learn that Tallahassee is the location where Emma and Neal were supposed to make a home and that Neal is whom Emma has been searching for for about 10 years. Also the first appearance of the Swan Pendant Necklace

    Desperate Souls

An entire episode dedicated to Young Baelfire and Papa Rumple

    Nealfire’s imporatance #3: Rumple’s son

Nealfire’s importance to the show is three fold: Henry’s father, Emma’s first love, and Rumple’s son.

Interestingly enough, Emma Swan’s importance to the show is also three fold: Henry’s birth mother, The Savior, daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming.

Just a little food for thought.

Great thoughts. I’ve always seen him as (if anything) MORE important because of his ties to Emma. Not to take away from the importance of being the cause of the curse and Rumple’s child– just that he is the beginning (and happy ending) of her story as a person. Them finding each other was meant to be. Their story and where they came from… there’s no room for ā€œchanceā€ in them being together and I can’t understand how anyone, shipper or not, can say that he isn’t a driving force in the entire fairytale that is her life (with Henry of course). She may not know it yet, but everything comes together with him and Henry in her life as an undivided family unit that echos the charmings. She’s a product of true love, who is meant to go on and embody true love in her own life. The beauty of the story is that it’s not a perfect story, but just because the story isn’t perfect doesn’t mean that her ending isn’t meant to be. The same with Neal. His story is horrible and cruel and painful, but with all that rain– man, he has one heck of a rainbow waiting, doesn’t he? All the struggle and the hard times are part of the climb up the mountain to the top. The top, where I fully believe Emma, Neal and Henry are meant to be perched, looking at where they came from and seeing how much of it was worthwhile in order to find where they were meant to be… together and home. He’s important, dangit.

Perfect post is perfect. Wow, what a great way to say all of that and I’m truly holding onto that hope too even when the darkness force fed to me by the media and annoying ‘fans’Ā feels overwhelming. I believe they’ll find their way home to each other again. šŸ™‚ Dang, where have you been hiding this whole hiatus??! We’d be over 900 pages by now if we had your awesome artwork and wonderful posts mixed in with the rest ofĀ our ramblings,Ā LOLĀ šŸ˜€

I love fairytales and I want to believe so badly in happy endings in our world. I can’t turn my back just yet, because amidst the chaos and cruelty that everyday life holds for everyone; this silly, corny little show gives me an escape and beyond that, a sense that if there’s hope for Emma and Neal in this crazy world lacking magic.. maybe there’s hope for us real folks too.

Haha aw shucks you guys.. I’ll do my best to not forsake thee. I spent the hiatus trying to convince myself I didn’t care, that it was just a show and I could turn my back at the drop of a hat. (Ask Glee, the Mentalist or any other show that pee’ed me off when they messed with a storyline I loved) but I can’t. I love fairytales and I want to believe so badly in happy endings in our world. Is the same with me. And i really hope that a month from today ( 6th of april day of 316)we all say, look they were wrong, and not crying and without hope, and trying to find a reason why adam and eddie did what they did, because we only listen bad things and so far no proofs that they are wrong. P.S: im not new here, just changed my name bc of ouat, i was nessa and before bluebutterfly

Do I detect a fellow ex-Glee fan?Ā  That show has damaged me and why I’m looking at Once with stink eyes.

I, too, love fairytales. I always have since I was a little girl and not just the Disney version.Ā  FairytalesĀ were cautionary tales primarily but there were also motivational and uplifting ones.Ā  Ā I remember falling in love with Beauty and the Beast years before Disney ever released it as a movie.Ā  It was originally meant to show future brides who didn’t know their husbands that men weren’t all horrid (hehe).Ā  But at their heart they all have happy endings and justice is met.Ā  Okay, I’ve rambled and forgot my point.Ā  😈

Anyway, I do see SwanFire as a new fairytale.Ā  The reason for the curse and the savior meeting in a strange land neither were born toĀ with a population in theĀ billions and falling in love and having a child.Ā Then they’re separated again and reunite.Ā  If I look at this story from a casual fan perspective I’d say there’s no wayĀ Neal is gone.Ā  But then the pragmatic part of me realizes that this isn’t a novel and you have to take into account actors, writers, producers and networks.Ā  Everyone has their own agenda and stories morph and evolve down completely different avenues.

Keeper of Rumplestiltskin's and Neal's spears and war paint and crystal ball.
